Tekkaman Blade Official Tutorial

That’s awesome, Blade has a dust loop, lol. On the A Baselard, j.B, JC j.2C part of the air combo, I can’t seem to get close enough to the opponent after the baselard hits. Any tips?

It all depends on how close you Sj to the opponent and how close you remain to them when doing the air combo. Just try to angle your super jump a little more towards the launched opponent.

Nitro and Isu… You guys are freakin’ beasts, my friends. Seriously… If you guys haven’t tried their combos yet, give them a whirl. They…are…insane. lol As far as I’m concerned you two are currently the authorities on Blade’s combo system. It was a tremendous team-effort, because everyone kept building off of one another, but I’ve gotta hand it to you guys: you’ve created some really terrifying combos!

I did have a question for Isu: are your combos good to use in competition? I only ask because they do seem a bit lengthy and difficult to execute. It seems like a smart player would generally try to maintain at least 2 meters against Blade so that they’d be less likely to get caught in such a combo. Genuinely interested in your opinion, man.

So, I finally got a big in person play session in last night (6+ hours), against a Zero/Ryu player and a Ippatsuman/Yatterman-2 player. Things I thought of:

  • If it wasn’t obvious enough, Crash Intrude has a pretty quick start up. As such, if certain characters with multi-hit normals (Ippats, Zero, etc.) are going through a block string, and you push block the first hit of one of those, CI on reaction will catch them 99% of the time (depending on reflexes)
  • Blade seems to have an issue against rush-down (or maybe it’s just me, and I need more practice). Are there any good ways of creating enough space to reset both the distance and your mindset?
  • Are there any moves that can serve as potential “burst baits”? It seemed like everytime I started a combo, if they had meter, they bursted, no questions asked. Is that because it’s just the thing to do in TvC, or are people really afraid of Blade’s damage that much? (Note: One thought I saw is 6C. Auto guard?)
  • Blade’s ground movement is, for lack of better terms, “ass”. Is there a point to truly keeping him on the ground that long, or is it better to take to the skies and come down from the heavens to strike?
  • Is the following combo worthwhile?: C~Falchion 5A 5B 2B 5C+Ryu assist C~Falchion 5A 5B 2B 5C (BBQ 5A 5B 2B 5C) Launch into air combo. It does a good chunk of damage, but do they build too much meter to continue the combo? (Hence the burst bait question)
-Does Blade have anything that counts as an overhead?

Any answers would be awesome. Also, everything I’ve learned from this thread has (apparently) made others fear my Blade, so thank you all for making me scary.

He has no overhead, and outside the occasional Mashy-A move and Crash super, he has no way to get people off him. You need to learn to block patiently and find your opportunity to superjump out of the corner and fly away.

Watch my videos on youtube to get a nice idea of how I move with him. I’m still improving, too, mind you.

@B-Rad: The answers to your questions goes as follows:

  1. A good assist helps stop rushdowns i.e. Ryu, Zero, Chun, etc. If you ever find yourself in the corner, when the opponent jumps in the air, immediately C ~ Falchion to get on the other side. If they IAD when you Falchion, it’ll hit them in air preparing you for a launch.

  2. There’s no way to bait bursts with Blade as Blade’s attacks have high recovery. Smart people will always burst on Blade’s second or third hit because he does massive damage. From almost 0 meter, you can do a full combo with Blade which includes any combo listed in the thread.

  3. Blade doesn’t have an overhead like Keits said but if you dash forward and dash again right away, hit A and it’ll act as an overhead on a crouching opponent.

Instant air j.2C. :badboy: Can be made safe by cancelling into 236A and calling Morrigan’s assist – never tried it with any other assists.

This sounds complicated, no offense, because if you so happen to screw up something it could bite you back. Besides, Blade’s j.2C causes knockdown so not that many things can be done except mix up with a Falchion or go for a j.5C.

Just wondering but why isn’t my thread stickied by now? It seems like it’s the place where most people go to so wouldn’t it be better to be stickied? I guess all I want is for my thread to be stickied since I’ve never had one stickied before lol

There are less than 8 threads in this subform. The purpose of a sticky is… anyone… anyone…?

Thats right. To make important threads easy to find in a sea of unimportant threads. This subforum is hardly a sea, and this thread is not in any way hard to find.

Answered!

The Zero thread only has 10 threads but 3 stickies, so does that mean the T. Blade board needs three more threads!? goes off to make three more pointless threads

lol just kidding, it’s cool dude I don’t mind. I understand

Hehehe… Well, as soon as I finish my Blade/Ryu thread you’ll be one step closer to your 3-thread goal. lol Hopefully, though, mine won’t be completely useless. :wgrin:

lol Make it good, I use them too and I need to know tricks with Ryu’s assist. So far my one great trick is to sacrifice myself using a Falchion that puts me right next to them but doesn’t cross them up while calling Ryu. They manage to get a combo going but the hadouken hit’s and I’ve got free red life!

If I were to post up info related to meter building with T. Blade, should I put it all here or make a new thread? And is it even worth it?

Yeah, I stuck those back in the first week of release. Seeing now the traffic this subforum gets, im not concerned with putting stickies up in the rest. Waste of time.

That would be really good data for the “Strategies” section on Page 1. Just post it up here for now, and Xaolin can move it to the appropriate section when he updates again.

I’ll see what I can do, though I can’t figure out a good way to make it “accurate”. Best I can think of is taking a ruler and measuring everything out lol.In other news, any word on whether 4C has auto guard properties?

Dude… I’ve been waiting for someone to mention that!!! lol I noticed that a while back with my friend, and I forgot to post something about it. Yeah, it DEFINITELY has some sort of auto guard going on. I’m not sure how many frames/hits worth, but I’ve definitely seen it, too.

Oh shoot, you guys noticed it too!? I was play online and I comboed this Blade player as he was doing 4C and he kept going with the animation. He didn’t even take damage or anything! It definitely isn’t super armor but I wonder during what frames he starts the auto guard?

I don’t think auto guard starts on frame 1 but this might be a viable strategy to counter Zero on the ground and cancel it into Crash Intrude for about 10 billion damage.

Post it bro, I meter build by throwing out j.A ~ Baselard, if there are more efficient ways I’d be glad to post it up with credit to you. I’m also very interested in how I can actually bait a mega crash. It seems like it’s impossible due to Blade’s high recovery.
