Teenage Mutant Ninja...Aliens?

2K3 series would like to have a word with you.

This news feels me with profound sadness. Time to set exceptions to none

I don’t care what anyone says, the 1st & 3rd TF movies were pretty decent and entertaining. The first flick in particular, minus the dumb human comedy, is probably the best we’ll get to a G1 flick.

<----lifelong G1 fan

However, i dunno what to think about this. Bay’s action movie style is much more compatible with something like Transformers, a property where you’re expecting giant explosions, flashy technology, and epic battles…but TMNT?

TMNT requires a more subtle, thoughtful approach.

We can all just make believe it’t non-canon AS WELL as Battletoads…

The best tmnts movie ever it will never be top

If Bay doesn’t slide his usual racial humor, the movie stands a chance of being solid. I think they’ll involve the Utroms somehow in all this for it to make sense.

Although I agree that there are a lot of Sci-Fi and extradimensional elements to TMNT (even in the '80 show), that still doesn’t make changing the Turtles themselves into aliens a good idea.

Also, this isn’t really a minor alteration to their origins. The fact that they were ordinary turtles that turn into anthropomorphic turtles is a big part of their who they are. It ties in which how they got their ninja training, their connection their their arch-nemesis, their relationship with the outside world…it’s bigger than you think (Hell it’s in the name: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). This change is not like “organic web-shooters” or “makeup”. This is akin to removing the part of Batman’s origin where he makes an lifelong oath to protect Gotham after seeing his parents killed as a young boy and replace it with an adult Bruce Wayne deciding to become a superhero after a brief stint as a super criminal, or something.

Anyway, I wont be paying to see this move, like all movies with Michael Bay’s name on it after being scammed by Transformers 2. It wont make a significant difference to his bank roll, but I don’t like spending money on shit (I can make that by myself).

Jesus Christ, the pixelation makes it look like he’s coming out of the screen.

It’s kind of hilarious after awhile, like a drug.

Eh. They killed Shredder on the rooftop, the Foot reanimated him, Leo cut his head off and cremated him. “Arch nemesis?” I agree that the Foot are important to their history and training, but Shredder got jobbed repeatedly until he was killed for good. I just think you guys are overstating the importance of the Shredder/the Foot in the TMNT storyline, important as they are, because of the licensed work. The Utroms are probably more important, though I wouldn’t call them an “arch-nemesis” of the Turtles.

And we can give reasons all day why changing them into aliens is a bad idea, but there’s no evidence of it actually being a bad idea yet. Like how everyone bitched about Heath Ledger playing Joker before the movie was out. I’m sure some great arguments were made against that casting before a shitload of crow was eaten. Again, I’m arguing in theory.

Well looks like Krang is the villian in the movie

definitely supports the Utrom involvement at least.

I still think your Joker comparison does not constitute a valid example. But I see how someone can look at this and not see this as a big deal. I felt how you did when people we’re complaining about The Karate Kid reboot (ex: the lack of actual karate in the film).

So I’ll just respectfully agree to disagree on this one.

Holy shit.

Amazing the the day after I take down my Krang avatar, this bombshell hit. I’ve always wanted to see Krang on the big screen…uh, mixed feelings…I’m going to have to meditate on this.

Yeah fuck this guy, the 1st and 2nd movies were the shit.

Don’t care. I just hope they bring back Venus.

Meh. The entire history of this franchise after its initial stealth-parody phase has been marked out by big retarded changes of one sort or another.

Michael Bay is officially one of the most stupid people on the planet. For a visionary of his caliber, he should have realized there’s much more potential in making a movie based on the first TMNT game for the NES.

Because, then they can make a video game, based on that movie, based on that older video game. Who wouldn’t want to swim through a graphically updated field of electric weeds in the Hudson?

Except Krang is exclusively a creation of the 1987 cartoon. He was inspired by the Utroms, but was not one of them.

I don’t really care about the Turtles being alien or any other origin story to be honest. It’s Michael Bay that pissess me the fuck off. And it’s understandable.

Look at it this way: Bay decides to turn Turtles into Aliens. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! WHAT THE FUCK MAN MY CHILDHOOD!!!

But let’s say it were like: Christopher Nolan decides Turtles are aliens. I would be like… hmmmmmmmmmm, that doesn’t sound like a good idea but I believe that Nolan can do it.

It’s really the director that’s at fault, because you already know what to expect. You know it’s gonna be stupid, it will miss the whole point of the Turtles, and shit on all the franchise’s fans. There lies the problem.

What the…NOOOOOOOO!

I fucking hate this world.

Did I hear the mention of Shredder.
