Teching throws during recovery - does it need to be patched/removed?

you know the sad part is that we can actually fix the throwing if we get everyone on the same page about the way throwing is versus the way it “should” be. Its also why the better players from the games should be a part of the developmental process. If I was on the player team and I saw this shit in the pre vanilla build, I would of definitely mentioned it and point why its bad.

Its just that everyone on shoryuken is of a varying skill level so while it makes sense to me, it may not make sense to someone else. Everyone so far is saying yayyyy!! the glitch is gone everything is fine again!!! when in actuality, its worse. Both implementations of throwing were wrong for mvc3\umvc3, none of them are good. Just because we’ve removed the one that sucked more, doesn’t mean we magically have a good throwing system again.

@ the end of the day, you have to take the game for what it is obviously which I don’t have a problem with. My problem is that Capcom is patching the game but they’re not listening to the right people about how something should be patched and that’s what gets on my nerves the most. If you’re going to patch it, why not patch it right?

In this single instance, I’m not sure they’re listening to anyone. It might really be that it isn’t working as they intended (regardless of the relative merit of their intent), and they figure “well, since we’re issuing a patch anyway…”.

I say that not based on verifiable evidence, just on the fact that current UMvC teching feels like a very large departure from how Capcom usually handles it.

Sadly good suggestions, such as this and nerf X-factor, fall on deaf ears.
I’d rather have something better, but if the mediocre solution is still better than what we have now, it’s still not going backwards.

We’re just back at square one. At least I can throw Ammy and Dante. shrug

I knew this was unintentional.

Called it!

How could they patch this and not the DHC glitch?

Because they did patch the DHC glitch…?

Making a new game is not a patch.

Uh, don’t ask me. >.>

They probably were about to patch it, but just as they were about to, they saw a marlinpie dhc glitch combo.

DHC glitch might have been more embeded into the core of the game making too much of a hassle for them to bother with it while they were planning to make a new version for 40$ by the time they’ve been made aware of it.

100% dont believe him that this was a bug. They probably thought it would be a good way to nerf throws even more, combined with the hitstun and damage scaling… but when people started exploiting it they realized how derpy it was

The DHC glitch is still in Ultimate, it just doesn’t affect damage or hitstun. They still spin out and get the hard knockdown, it’s how Noel does the Wolvie/Frank combo.

I love you. Seriously I love you. Can we get together and just…throw things? I’ve been wanting these changes for years myself. Absolutely hate the throwing in SFIV and it just got stupider in MVC3. Yes i’m living with it but it doesn’t mean I can’t hate it.

So then its not necessarily a glitch…it just allows you to keep comboing more? I realized that too when doing that with certain characters and wasn’t sure if the glitch was actually fixed or not.

So glad they are removing this.

Time to start throwing Spencers out of the sky.

The glitch part IS the “no damage or hitstun scaling”. Now that it scales, the glitch is gone. Too many people still don’t realize this.

Of course they still spin out. What else would they do?

Way to completely miss the point. =/

Not a glitch.

almost every hyper when canceled mid-hit lead to hard knockdown (like jS after sS superjump)

I see what you’re saying and this patch def will have it’s pros and cons but overall I feel that the game is even more derpy in it’s current state. Taskmaster can just mash f+H against a good portion of the cast and teleport spam can go largely unpunished.

Throws are pretty powerful in this game overall, but what they are fixing is allowing us to throw during recovery frames. That means you catching someone doing something unsafe, which you should be able to punish anyway. And if you feel like punishing with a throw go for it. I do think throws should be 2 or 3 frames though…
