Teching throws during recovery - does it need to be patched/removed?

100% agree with the OP, this is my biggest beef with ultimate.

In CvS2 you could still tech if you were thrown out of a normal attack… but not special moves.

In Ultimate you can ALWAYS tech?? That’s just fucking stupid.

That’s so dumb. Please change it.

I would like to see it gone. I haven’t actually bothered grabbing teleporters (DANTE, cause I got Trish for Wesker and the other ones just don’t teleport as often.) in the first game, but now that I’m baiting them to teleport with Vergil and they get to tech my grab into ToD, it make me sadface.

Scratch that, rage face. >:(

Yeah it’s dumb, i play task so it’s an advantage for me but i still find it stupid as hell.

Having a 2 button throw with a throw-move animation like the command throw. that would have been great.

Fun fact about this change. Akuma and Taskmaster can tech if you try to punish their air supers with an air throw lol so obnoxious.

How do you OS tech throws? Do you just mash f.H during your combo?

The funny thing about this is that I remember how people used to talk about how throw techs pushed you too far away in games like 3S and SFIV. This game fixes the issue with being pushed too far back but didn’t put in the other thing people wanted which was the original thrower gaining any sort of advantage. Teching a ground throw is pretty much a big 33/33/33 set up.

Basically. It’s the old school Super Turbo OS.

Being able to always mash throw and tech even while doing unsafe shit makes many things nonpunishable.

Taskmaster swings at you? Try and throw, it gets techd if they mash it. Dr strange teleports behind you? throw it and if he mashes a little bit harder you’ll get impact palmed in the face. Spencer zip lining above your head? You’ll get a throw if you’re lucky.

This isn’t even just normal moves, if you try and punish a super with a regular throw, they can still tech, and theres no reason for people NOT to be mashing throw during recovery.

It is a very stupid and scrubby addition to the game.

This shit is ridiculous. Get it patched. Too many taskmasters and teleports thinking they actually good right now.

taskmaster is the main issue for me, if you get cornered by him, it’s just retarded. Option select tech/webswing into combo.

You need to blow your XF to get the fuck out of there if he has a proper assist.

Throws need to be a different input too…

It was the same way in TvC CGOH which is why throws were useless in that game.

Capcom: Where Balance is completely balls.

You didn’t get anything from throws unless your name was Ken the Eagle and they had absurdly short range in that game.

You can try shoryuken-like move during the recovery time. x-23’s work, i think shoryu work to. that is if the task player does not cancel into arrows, but then he’ll have broken the =>H mash cycle.

Also you forget that he can also option select grab :stuck_out_tongue:

The first part isn’t true, but yeah, short throws ranges + techable no matter what + bigger tech window = lol

it being scrubby is the whole reason its there and its the same why X factor is there.

bad players need to feel good about playing otherwise they won’t play and this is what happens when the casual market is considered for fighting games. You get options that help them out but they make for the dumbest tournament options. It should pretty much kill any argument a scrub can have about how catering to the casual audience can still yield a good tournament game. Its because options that help scrubs hurt high level play so they can never truly exist together.

while its not that bad against teleport characters because you can just simply hit them out of it, it gets really durpy for punishing wiffed normals\specials\supers or ground characters like taskmaster who can just mash back+h all day and have no fear. You either get a 1f throw, tech a throw, or get one of the best normals in the game that can be canceled. yassssss… I can finally play marvel!!! durp

yeah its pretty dumb we all agree. I wonder what the reasoning behind it if it was on purpose

That needs to be changed for sure. But even more important IMO, distance when you tech somebody’s throws need to be increased. It’s horrible seeing two people at the arcade holding forward on their stick at the beginning of the match and with their index finger above the :h: button ready to apply dat hard mashing.
