Tech Talk Secret Santa 2014

I feel like you put the bag on top on purpose too.expecting me to dremel right through it and causing a mist of shrimp smell all over the room.

I think about that when I’m packing things sometimes. “Hmm, what could I put right under the seam for them to accidentally cut into?” I should blow up a balloon with some nasty smelling gas and cram it in there last.

Drum roll please!

After much haggling and hustlin, bamboozlin and harrassin the post office; they agreed to release my package and now I will post my gifts.

My SS, @manbehindthewires‌ has outdone himself with the little information i have on this forum.

Groupshot!

1st item Kinder Egg(s)

I’ve always liked these and they had bonus surprises inside! Sadly one of the broke on transit and i was only left with the toy.

2nd item Lollipop JLF stick

Awesome way to present this huge candy, I feel bad for having to eat it.

3rd item DC4 Electrical Compound

This was a random addition but i will surely have a use for it in the future. Any uses you guys can enlighten me with will be appreciated

4th item LED Christmas Tree kit

Nice small project for killing some time.

5th item Blanka PixelBricks

THIS is the most frustratingly annoying thing to build :disagree: I still have not finished it since my big hands keep breaking it every two steps
Awesome though would anyone know where to find them in the US?

6th item W40k HELSREACH novel

Just what the Empr’ah ordered some blood, guts and impossible odds for the good guys to win.

7th item Borderlands Origins comic

With me recently buying the Pre-Sequel, this is an cool comic to add to my collection.

8th item W40K Space marine Sternguard veteran Squad

My friends, I was not expecting an actual set much less one of these! I will be buying the paints and posting them around here when done.

I want to thank @manbehindthewires‌ because he really put some thought into this and made my day! Also all of the people in the exchange that kept the holiday spirit up and running! finally to @jdm714‌ for modding and taking care of us.

Well that is all folks! Cheers!

Haha yeah!!! This has made my day! Was so concerned that it still hadn’t arrived in the UK, I’d already favorited pages for buying replacements.

Anyway, some explanations:
When you signed up for TTSS you had something like ELEVEN posts, so I had to go super-stalker, which lead me to your Steam and Raptr accounts, hence the Borderlands comic.

The DC4 is ny personal alternative to Shin Etsu. American made, aircraft approved, battle tested for decades. Give it a try and let me know what you think

I wanted to get you more fightstick and mechanical keyboard stuff, but with such a lovingly built setup already, I felt it’d only insult your taste if I did…so I bought you lube!

I’m not a big Warhammer guy (after all the research, I now am haha) so I took your TTSS entry photo to some of my W40K friends and to the guys at my local GW (friendliest staff ever) and they zoomed in to guess what you played and what chapter you were. (space marines, black templars was the consensus?) so went with a Space Marines novel and a veterans pack, with the understanding that it gave you the gift of kickass troops and enough spare parts to make your existing squad equally kickass, which sounded like a better deal than a standard box of 10. Hope you like them!

If you cant get the pixelbricks in the US lemme know, there’s also a Ryu and a Ken edition.

Lastly, it wont have the same value now, but will post out the bonus gifts on Monday :stuck_out_tongue:

Merry Christmas JRDibbs!

Man thank you so much, as for the figurines mine were Dark Angels. I dont have enough of an army to play but i enjoy collecting and painting them so no harm done there.

ooOOooo, where does one acquire this? I’ve got a stick that needs some lube and it’s been on my list of things to start investigating!

Aww man! Was so proud of my detective work too! After all the time I’ve spent around W40K, I’m deeply considering giving it a shot myself

Silicone based grease is what you want. Shin Etsu is the industry standard, but I’ve been using Dow Corning DC4 (old name, MS4) for 2 years now and its similar quality imo and easier to acquire.
Was discussed in a forum on here a while back and it’s used in the printing industry too. I use it on avionic actuators and synchros etc, which is where I first found it.
Plenty of videos on youtube on disassembling and lubing a stick, I’ll put one up when I get home

EDIT: As promised…

Man I all but forgot about the old DC4 lubricant.

I once read a old manual for a arcade cabinet from the early 80s, that verimently insist on DC 4 as the only lubricant you should use for lubricating the joystick and to keep the rubber grommet from drying out.
I forgot was it it was one of the old Nintendo cabs or Pac-man cabs, the joystick did have leaf switches.
