@ Redbeard:

Nah man, you know I’m not just talking about just chaining normals and launching into air combos, those are just the examples I gave, I mean that’s why at the end of that sentence I put and so on, obviously implying there is more to GG then just dialing a phone number, pressing the dust button, and mashing like a caveman to roman cancel.

I mean the same shit applies to any game. You tell me Ryu’s bread and butter in CvS2, you’re that much better off, you have a minute amount of skill (after practicing said BnB) to test it out on others in game, but as you said, that won’t get them anywhere.

You guys are thinking, ok, learn Ciel’s BnB, and done, I’m 50% of the way there for MB. That’s just not the freaking case, and I don’t see why anyone’s excluding it as such. I mean if you want to dumb shit down that badly why stop at MB? Guilty Gear is just sweeping and mix ups, CvS2 is building meter and then random activation, MvC2 is running the fuck away and calling Commando, 3S is pressing b+FP twenty times and then c.mk into super, ST is doing fifty million hadoukens in a row.

I mean that’s obviously all wrong, so why the hell give MB the unfair treatment? If the fact that some of the BnB’s are similar bothers you guys, well that’s done to level the playing field, that way you don’t have retarded damage outputs across the board (ex: Juggs killing people in 8 hits).

I don’t understand how I can play everything under the sun but people just continously give MB a bad rap, and for years now. Mb’s more balanced then 80% of the shit you got in your arcade, but it gets the least respect.

Damn. Go figure.

hey stop the hate on melty ass i like the fucking game.

EDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Good luck this weekend, sorry I can’t come up.

What’s your main game anyway?

3rd strike is my main game

damn man u can’t come that sucks

i really want to start play melty blood more. ggxx slash reload 2000 is all fucked up with it’s 90% with everyone. i can’t fuck with that game now man they need to fixs that shit man

you could train for a millenium and you still wouldnt close the gap in skill between us

i think we are missing the point here

Master Chibi: You guys are thinking, ok, learn Ciel’s BnB, and done, I’m 50% of the way there for MB.

this is a sweeping generalization that you just made.

A number of people share the opinion that melty blood is easy to pick up.
I think we are getting sidetracked by arguing about how deep the system is or whatever. You can’t quantify “how good a game is” or “how deep a game is”. Are you going to say a more versed player is more qualified to speak about such things as a greenhorn (probably). Ok by how much exactly (impossible).

a good analog for fighting games is advanced rock paper scissors. first you learn how to throw rock/scissors/ or sometimes get really cute and throw paper. this is the execution part of the equation. it may be very easy for a lot of people to pick up new games in general because we’ve been playing games for years, or that melty blood shares a lot of system similarities to many 2d games we’ve all been playing.

the rest is just mind games-- “how does my opponent view me” “what does my opponent want me to do” (then do the opposite) – this is present in almost any game to varying degrees.

Chibi – no one is trying to take away from the time and energy and thought im certain you’ve put into the game. if anyone is qualified to talk about the dynamics of the game it is you.

i respect ill will’s and jjuice’s opinions they know what they are talking about.
after playing the game for a week i was smashing people who regularly played MB at TGA. the converse has never proven to be the case for guilty gear and i have played the game and hosted tournaments for guilty gear for years.

this proves that melty blood is an easy game to pick up for some but says nothing of how “deep” the system is. the actual system depth depends on the two people fighting and on what level do “better” players operate on most often when they are trading blows via the game engine.

Obviously we are all (presumably) thinking players in this thread. Lets try to act like them by not arguing over heavily opinion-oriented ideas. If people aren’t going to play a game, they aren’t. I think we are all adequately equipped mentally to try something out and determine for ourselves whether something is worth playing and understanding or not.

hey alfred go fuck yourself real hard ok

fixed your post

edit: unforgivable ed…unforgivable

melty blood…ok…i think people that are good at CVS2, 3rd strike find it easy cause it really does have a basic combat system…all they really have to do is learn some combos and play it like CVS2…people that dont play cvs2 (kayin) got owned by ill will and kayin plays melty blood as a competitive fighter…how can ill will (just picked it up for shits and giggles) beat kayin which plays it seriously…because MB is like a weaker SF system basically…so they adapt to the game faster…thats why people in this thread call it easy cause they are SF players…i mean GOOD SF PLAYERS…the ones that dont play SF competitively are the ones defending it…and you master chibi are like a jack of all trades…not really specializin in one game just become average in all…im playin high level people in CVS2 and 3rdstrike and when they start explaining little details to you you start to pick up lil shyt that some average players wouldnt consider…

Sage:

There is nothing wrong with picking random chars to learn match-ups. I was using that as an exsample of if you do end up playing with us your for the most part just testing shit out and not playing above 80% which is find by me. No one cares if you pick your main all night or play pink Sean because we all got are own ways of trainning.

Team captain? more like team dictator:confused: it’s all gravy thou.

Master Chibi:

Quiting a game because it’s “easy” or “hard” is not my style. I’m a competitor and I play games that have comp and MB has comp, shit I even play some games that i don’t like simply because there is comp. So I plan on playing MB, it just won’t be at the top of the list. and GGXX is a hard game! think about it; most top players that place good in all the other games get beat down by mid level players in the GGXX community, well so it seems.:looney:

RedBeard:

I agree with your post 99.9%!

Shibuya:
