I think the rare crash has to do with a spy dying. I’ve tried to analyze one replay where I caught 75% of a BLU team crashing due to a spy death within their vicinity…
So the crashing/choppiness is getting really annoying, just like with every other update. Anyone found any workarounds to at least the chop? leilei, I remember you telling me about something to negate some of the choppiness.
Yeah, it’s weird. Suddenly eight people will crash at a time.
I hate this update. I really preferred the game when they decided that adding new maps was a good idea too. We have enough items, hats, and random shit to last years, yet they decide to taunt us in huge updates with only one map. Also, how many people haven’t played the shit out of gullywash already?
Valve, please add more maps, that’s the key to true longevity, not stupid signs with custom decals.
My “choppiness” problem was fixed a few updates ago and was Steam client related. I had to disable Multicore rendering to get around its new cpu hog bug then. It’s fixed now,and i’m using multicore rendering again
btw, “max fps configs” are all pro gamer bullshit that don’t really improve FPS.
Well, we have a Halloween update coming. That should be big, maybe with new, original stages. Of course, we’ll get a bunch of hats and random items to go with it, but we really do need some new stages straight from Valve themselves.
Max FPS configs are bullshit? I beg to differ. Chris Max FPS lets me run the game on my really old computers, and even then, I still use them because of the fact I’m use to them.
Uh, yes they do. Benchmark with max settings then benchmark with m0re’s high fps … if there’s not a significant difference then something is very wrong, or your rig is amazingly godlike.
TF2/Source is heavily CPU bound (crappy skeletal code, and sound mixing too), I only get a significant FPS increase if I overclock a little and up the threads/use multicore rendering and use low sound detail. Dual cores.
Minimum detail doesn’t do much an improvement at all, so I play maxed anyway, including 4X AA, 16X AF. -dxlevel 90. Ironically, -dxlevel 81 slows everything down for me
I can only see the max fps configs working on budget video cards or onboard graphics, but also, nearest neighbor filtering improving FPS has been a myth since 1997’s modern bilinear implementations - nearest doesn’t even help the 2nd generation 3d hardware much.
People seem to be complaining about crashing a lot since the Manniversary update. I’ve yet to have that problem. Wonder why some users get dicked over and others don’t. I know it’s not cause I have a gdlk laptop…
Ah, feel free to add me on Steam. I’ve become quite the Turbine junkie.
Well, I’ve been playing for quite some time and even after the patch was launched, I didn’t have any problems like everyone else was havin’. But yeah, add me and let’s TF2 it up.
I just wanna get the Solider mask for my Solly. Bleh.
It’s a big one, I think. Lots of new costumes (yes, costumes) and haunted Viaduct, among other things. Will we find out who Dark Force/Devil Trigger Pyro is, though?
