^This.
But to be fair, whoever Amir talked to could have been exaggerating on the number of people as well to just to hype up potential sales. You’d think if there were that many players that are here we’d have run into some of them by now, right?

I thought u were there when he said that. And I dont necessarily think we’d have run into some of the people. There were ppl that played ssf4 that have never heard of srk and mvc3 seems to be quite a big more popular.
Tim if you want more entrants and these things to be big, maybe it would be a good idea to call game stop and ask them around how many sales they had first day/week AND their age group. I’m really thinking that schools would be a great place to advertise. Both major colleges and any high school. Heck you could even ask Michael to distribute some. Or “like” the fb pages of school so you could post on them. For example, all 770 people that liked South Eugene High School would see your post in their news feed. Fliers might be the best way tho. Or just yelling REALLY loud from the top of a hill.
Rocky said he might want to play tomo.
Yeah Chris, that sounds legit except the last time we played, I’ve maybe had 4 training mode/online/mission mode sessions to further get a feel for this game. Not to start any hate, but you kind of sound like some guy who was an SF2 champ, and when SF4 came out, had a better intuitive understanding of how SF4 is supposed to be played. Compare to somebody like me, who when SF4 came out, didn’t know much about combos (arguably still don’t) and even had huge problems with pushing the right buttons at the right time, or would often lose due to pushing the wrong buttons at the wrong time.
This game has been out for a little over 2 weeks. Give it some growing room, and perhaps wait for the local tournament to really prove what you’re boasting. We may have some dark horses galloping through the shadows lurking around here. Just waiting to trample.
Also, you mostly use MSS, which isn’t too much different (maybe a little more tame) from how they were in MvC2. I, on the other hand, am using characters who have never made an appearance in a crossover title or other sort of fighter, they’re completely new in general, and it takes a lot of work to get the synergy right. Plus the fact that I am completely new to the MvC concept.
Finally, thanks for blowing me up when we did play, as it teaches me more about what to improve. And thanks for keeping me off of that “Best of” list, as I will always be fighting you and whoever else for first.
I don’t know, Theo… :wonder:
Yes. Online basically just teaches me how to beat boring BS tactics in a swamp. And also lose to those same tactics.
However, I have been semi-avoiding this game. Played it maybe once in the past 5 days. Just haven’t been too concerned to get in it lately.
SSF4 is dead yo you need to get with the times, plus that bores the living hell out of me so I’m glad that I have something else to focus on (eventhough its EZ mode and has a shitload of stupid shit)
lawl
Dude mvc3 is not marvel. Sf4 is alot better game but they both suck. They need to release games that people actually need to be good to win
hopefully a good turnout this Sunday,
I don’t know, if there was no stupid shit (like in any fighting game with the whole guessing aspect) then that kind of defeats the purpose of competition. Lookit Third strike. I personally don’t like the game, but at high level, you have to always be on your game even if you have a 90% lead (this is only counting players who pick top tier). Comeback factors are important, otherwise there’d be more games based solely on counter picks.
In regard to that video, it’d be nice to know what level of X factor that was since I doubt that’s possible with a level 1, and at most you could only have a level 2.
And this is the top rating comment from that video:
*You have major problems with this game if you can’t 100% anyone with any character after using x-factor and 2 meters.
And jokes on you when you’ll get chipped to death after your opponent activates lvl3 x-factor and you’ll have nothing to counter? it with because you’ve already spent yours.
Don’t get me wrong. Sentinel is overpowered, but I’m pretty tired of seeing scrubs go apeshit each time video like this shows up.*
True enough, but the full screen 100% ability is a little annoying to think about. Prolly won’t see it used outside of killing the 2nd or last character, or when catching an assist also.
well, so much for the “planned out session”, in the end it was just me and Chris playing 150+ games AGAIN… dude seriously our scene is absolute ass, we already have a very small scene but even with that it seems hella scattered and no one has any true interest in playing or taking the game seriously.
with online not being a viable option and no one local interested its gonna be me vs Chris x 10000 which is helpful ad all but we need matchup Exp and me playing against MSS for countless hours wont exactly help me know how to fight the other characters.
TL;DR step your game up EUG and lets get some actual sessions started.
Seth. Meng. Having guessing in a game does not qualify as stupid shit. X factored sentinel being able to kill 2 characters with one super, does.
If I wanted to get all philosophical then guessing = yomi, which is a gift and a skill. Learning when to listen and when to attack, is also part yomi (gift and guess) and part educated guess. Guessing does not qualify for stupid shit (read:stupid mechanic of a game).
I dont even know if 3s is a good example either. I once heard from a few smart top tier 3s players that blocking is always better. U cany get hit low, can see overheads, wont get hit by a meaty wakeup attack, and can tech throws.
Regarding the x factor part, I dont know which one it is, but I wouldn 't be against thinking its a level 1. It’s Sent. He already does ridic damage. But I dont know. And the most you can have is level 2? I dont think that’s true either. I’ve heard ppl say level three xfactor plenty of times. Just what I’ve heard though.
Also. I’m op. I’m applying for a masters program next week.
Good first tourney y’all! Wish Amir could have made it but i’m sure i’ll get to play him at the next one.
Vitaliy, you could play Amir before then. He seems to like to session.

AYYY! Shoutouts to Amir who is currently at Final Round!
Ha, i’m chillin man, its all good. didnt expect to be playing last night since it was late… just trying to put myself out there.
take my number and let me know if you or anybody else wants to play. i’m down to play only one person if need be… my boy and i used to have 100 game marathons of sf4 and ssf4. i just like to play.
-dime
koo man. u play both marvel 3 and super right?
well, i cant really call myself a marvel “player” HAHA. i just press buttons.
in sf4 though, ive been playing that since evo 2k8 and at the arcades with socals finest… but i was never a threat to beat any of those guys consistently. and im rusty as hell now.
but yeah, i play both games. always looking to improve my game, but at this point in time i know pretty much all there is to know about what it takes to play at the highest level. in my case i will never be a high level player, so playing for fun and to just kick it with like minded folks is what i play for.
