Team Control

DAVID: This is the scrubby Elena/Remy you were playing earlier today. Thanks for all the free rounds

Squeamish: What’s your bread & butter with Elena? I know it’s cross-up something, low something, Lynx Tail. What are the “somethings” and how do you do crouch attack to shoryuken motion so easily? (Especially hard for me on the zz sticks.)

what’s up Abel. i remember you for sure. i just wasn’t sure if you remember me. anyway, let me know where you guys are gonna be Friday. i wanna challenge (get owned by) your team. oh, and it’s Roman. take care. late.

Yo, Marcus…Elena’s cross-up is better than most in 3s, but it still sucks, and I go for it way too often, so I wouldn’t consider any b+b for elena to start with a cross-up. But, anyway, her cross up is jumping medium kick. Really, I would consider her b&b to start with jumping roundhouse…it hits twice and is hard to parry.

I combo everything off of crouching medium punch(either a super, ex spin scythe, or reverse dragonpunch + lk…is that the lynx tail?). I’ve seen you do the same combos nicely, so maybe I’m thinking of the wrong ones. Her c.mp is her most damaging move that is cancellable. If you want to know some more interesting/flashy combos for Elena, ask Eliot(Closet Remy)…he knows all that triple ex shit.

As far as comboing into dragon punches, I have, like, no coordination, so I do it the ghetto way. Basically, if I were Elena:

  1. back.
  2. down + medium punch.
  3. down-back + light kick.

Once you get the timing down it is way easier than trying to do the entire dp motion from a crouch after hitting w/ a normal. Plus, 3s seems to give a lot of leeway concerning how fast you have to do a special/super motion, so you can really just lazily do this technique and it will still work(not so much in CvS2). In fact, you’re probably more likely to finish the combo if you do it slowly, so that you don’t hit lk before the c.mp hits. I do the same thing for half circles or deadly rave type motions.

Chris

i would’ve posted earlier but i kept on getting those “database error messages.”

anyway, i’m very surprised with what i saw today. not only were there 4x more 3s players than when i was there as a student 2 quarters ago but the diversity of characters chosen. every single character was used today!!!

marcus, i’m impressed with that remy of yours. i hope you didn’t get frustrated playing my turtle remy kuz that’s my stye. turtle, buffer, repeat. your elena took a page out of eliot’s book with that finish you gave me. should’ve known eliot was showing you some copyrighted material. though i don’t play elena i can tell you how the japs play her. basically they get in your face and do overheads/low attacks/karathrows. cross ups are almost never used. they rarely jump and when they do it’s to whack the opponent out of the air with a 2 hit attack.

i played “hugo guy” and “urien guy” today. both very impressibe. i’m pretty sure marvin could take them out with both feet tied behind his back. intrestingly, “hugo guy” also plays 12. i’ve never played a 12 user and lets just say 12 vs 12 was a fucking nut job. not bad with 12 at all. the guy’s pretty good considering he played this game in PURDUE U. oh yeah, he’s doing research in the same deartment i used to work in (molecular biology and biochemestry) but sadly not with the same professor. eliot, he uses the same 3 moves regardless if you’re parrying them so just look for patterns. he’s also very susceptible to the dashing throw but is very good at parrying crap in the air. watch out for the “wake up super” (hugo) - which by the way will also work as an anti air and the “wait till you jump in super” (12).

thanks for the footages abel… too bad there wasn’t any crowd interaction. i was sooo looking forward to “OIII…OIIIII…OIIIIIII!” tokido didn’t play. nuki, if my japanese is correct, would be that rushdown chun in the first match but eventually lost. K.O and ryo-chin lost… all my favorites lost. but good combos and set ups though. better than before. one 12 player… no oro player. :frowning:

In case you forgot, my elena sucks. She used to be kinda good but chris is a million times better. Billions, even.

I realize he does the same three moves, but the reason is that they have incredible priority. I’ve gotten to parrying down a lot and mixing it up in the air so he has a more difficult time being an expert air-to-air combat soldier. Now I’m about 75% up on the guy, but it seems my remy is a bit disadvantaged (more like 66% there).

Roman, do challenge us, because you’re not the one who’s gonna get owned.

Team Control Banner #2 is here!

Hope y’all likes!

Edit: I made a few changes… uploaded again.

 yeah, i knew it was Roman, but I keep fucking up vowel orders. I’m dyslexic…this one time, I wrote a Christmas Wish list intended for the jolly fat man, but instead, I wrote it to Satan…that didn’t go well.

hope to see you around sometime. lates

Marvin,
The new banner is tight.

let me know where ZZ is and i will be there Friday evening (if any of you peeps are down for some games). maybe my bro. will come too. unless it’s not open Fri. evenings. otherwise i will be at FF. gettin’ owned. you guys should head out there for sometime. CRAZY comp. there.
Abel, that’s funny ‘cause my last annual materialistic wish list to Satan was accidentally mailed to the jolly old fat man. so now i just address it to Lucifer, bearer of light. (y’know he was God’s Numba one man right? expelled from Heaven, now kickin’ it on earth, due to his individualistic free thinking mind. curse him!) 5000

Man… FF is too far for me, but I’ll go one of these days (either by myself or with one of the team who can drive there).

If Lucifer was on Earth, what 3s character would he use?
Hehe… just a thought… :stuck_out_tongue:

I haven’t been to AA (All Amusement in Van Nuys) in ages. I used to go there for CVS2 but FF is all around a better arcade. But more to the point has anyone here been to AA lately who can comment on the comp there (3s, CVS2, GGXX- I think there’s a GGXX machine there but I’m not sure)? How about the comp at UCLA X-scape? I think I should go there more often.

AA has pretty descent comp on 3S, CVS2 and KOF2k2…
I’ve played Gee-o on 3S a few times there and 2 others…
One Alex player and a Urien player. I’m not sure about GGXX since I didn’t see one the last time I was there. I might stop by there on Sat and check the place out…

I’d like to challenge marcus to some guilty gear, but I can’t control the characters properly in the arcade. It’s not just the fact that the punch button is below the kick, but the fact that I cannot comprehend why the hell they would do that in the first place. I mean, unless it’s a trend like the japanese street fighter machines having the row of punch buttons on the bottom and kicks above, but it just makes sense to have your arms higher than your legs, right? The playstation controls make sense, I wonder if the japanese version for ps2 has wierd controls also.

Back to important matters, what finish did marcus give you, david? I’m curious to know what copyrighted material he shamelessly stole from me while I wasn’t looking.

Marcus, I’ll show you some stuff when we’re in the sux zone next, like her mk+coruching hk chain in the corner. They’re in the air long enough to do something, but I have to experiment to see what works (since a spinning beat won’t connect).

If lucifer were to ever pick up street fighter, he certainly would not play ken or yun, because he is a free-thinking individual. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH no implications to anyone who plays those characters but I’m really tired of seeing so many of the same two or three characters being used.

he’d use either oro, 12, necro, charge buffering remy, ibuki, and would be currently practicing chun and makoto.

wiffed ex rhino horn into the super where she lunges at you and says “shall we dance?”

EDIT: zz closes at 11 and start kicking you out at 10:30 on weekdays. on weekends it closes at 5 i think.

so, ZZ is going to be open until 11:00 tonight (Fri.)? is there going to be anyone there? also, what’s the address?
3s is Lucifer’s favorite fighter. he is offended that you would think that he would use, Ken, Chun, or Yun. please, he is a man of style. he can actually use everyone on the board, i am sure, considering he (actually, it) is ruler of the material world.

The reason it’s designed that way is it’s supposed to be in an arc, starting from the weakest to the strongest. It’s not really that hard to get used to, but since you’ll probably never play in a tourny for it, I guess it won’t really matter to you anyways.

Ouch… I’m hurt that my clever joke would be taken so seriously.

The zot zone open till eleven tonight. At least one person’s gonna be there, namely the mysterious hugo user.

If you really want to play against me, we have a ps2 and ggxx at my apartment which is just across the university plaza.

About buttons: We (me, anji’s butterfly, turtle genocide) actually switch the PS2 layout so it plays more like the arcade, i.e. we switch the punch/kick buttons.

Hopefully, after the long weekend my roommate will bring his DC from home so I can finally practice 3S.

Yeah, that’s what I heard abel did to his ps2 controls so he won’t have to switch… though he must have relegated guilty gear to his back burner of games 'cause I never see him play. see, I tried to get used to that control style by walking on my hands and fighting with my feet but it didn’t work so well.

Maybe I’ll come over some time. If team control members decide to have another gettogether we should use your appartment for the orgy.

I still play GGXX, but, with the advent of reloaded, i somehow figured it would go the way of “Champion Edition: Turbo Hyper Fighting Special Combo XX edition.” :bluu:

I just don’t play as much GGXX nowadays 'cause i’m too into 3s, but oh well, still fun to use Slayer and Millia.

Nice games today at ZZ, my dudley is progressing nicely
