next get together is probably going to be in two weeks. Probably right after the tourney, if enough people are interested. Maybe sooner, not sure yet. I kind of have a busy schedule ahead of me for this week, so I might just end up going to ZZ. Since the switches and 360s are in, it’s not half bad anymore. I suggest you go about and do the same 
Especially since that’s probably how we’re going to get more people to play, by showing them some tight matches.
By the way, there’s a lot more competition now, considering there are new 3s players, along with some old flavors still in the mix. So, I’m sure if you show up anytime between the hours of 11 and 4, you have a big shot of playing someone ranging from decent to very good. Or, in the case of Eliot, someone japanese.

Anybody have any tips for using Necro in 3s? Chris, I’m looking in your direction since you seem to be the current uci necrophiliac (judging by your character choice in the team control combovid).

-learn to put pressure on people with his spinning dive kick.
- s.jab, back + strong/forward, and down-back + fierce will become your best bets when the situation forces you to poke to get out of a corner.
- Most people pick SA3 because of the stun damage and the long combos involving it. It’s good to some extent, but I say, if you’re really going to get into necro, you should learn SA1 first. The two supers are drastically different, but you learn not to waste the meter, and you get a feel for cancelling into super.
- in the air, things that fend off grounded players are usually j.strong, j.roundhouse, and j.fierce (to some extent). Anything that comes down at an angle is good, but, j.roundhouse is good when your opponent gets parry happy.
- Don’t hit people after you’ve thrown them with the snake fang…the throw doesn’t do damage until they hit the ground, so you’re just letting the ai reduce the damage on any attack you hit with next. Just let 'em fall, watch the wake ups.
- the main spinning clotheslines you’ll end up using are probably jab and strong. Fierce has a crap load of start up + lag.
- the kick overhead (qcb + kick) is better than the punch overhead, since it seemingly comes out of nowhere, and the EX version’s so fast.
- When you’ve got the rest of the things down pretty well, learn to do the stun combos with SA3.

I wanted to make a few comments about today’s games:
- Yes, Eliot, I own you.
I kid. your fucking ryu and elena are still monsters. - Chris’ Alex is pretty damned awesome. If Hiro really can manage to get you and KSK to talk, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT. Dude, you have no idea how much i’d wish Fujiwara or 178 would come over, then have hiro say, “you know what? I’ll introduce you to him so you can talk.” Too good.
- There are a handful of Dudleys now. I think JR started a trend, but I think he put it to death the moment he came up and owned up everyone around him. At least, that’s what I saw while I was playing marvel.
- I can super my way out of the cheap EX fireball xx SA3 victories against Ken users. Rocket Uppercut is as good as I had originally thought it was.
- The more and more I play against it, the more I realize that there are a crap load of weaknesses with Aegis. Marvin has the right idea with not trying to go for Aegis at every opportunity, and instead put the meter to better uses.
- Elena’s s.roundhouse stopping Hammer Frenzy is about as logical as Slam Dance stopping seraphic wing.
- People have broken into the sticks. I don’t mean they’ve tried to steal them, I mean, they’ve gotten used to them. I’m glad we no longer have to contend with sticks that register what we want only half of the time >__<

Dude, I was getting so pissed off today, JR took advantage and gave me the beatdown.
Okay, firstly I messed up my cancel into ex spinning scythe several times, then kept messing up the finishes when I actually did the combo. Argh, SO FRUSTRATING when they have zero life left. Highlight of the day: can’t remember if it was JR or Curtis, but I saw a jump coming so I tried to do ex overhead, and somehow hit a kick button instead of the punch button and did a roundhouse lynx tail. Slow as molasses. My life was flashing before my eyes as she got down to break dance and made their jump approximately 1000% more effective. Then I start wondering why the hell it all happened instead of trying to play smart and get creamed by supers as usual.
Oh, and why elena’s roundhouse stopped hammer mountain: The reason I did it was not because I knew some horrible secret and busted it out just then, I tried to do my own super after he started it, but I guess you can’t input motions and expect them to do anything while he’s still in his super startup animation. Anyways, the REASON is that he was holding down the button, at least I think so…
The only reason Hammer Frenzy can be stopped by a normal is becuase it was delayed.
Anyways, I’m developing new stuff with Urien.

Yeah, that seems to be the case for supers. Whenever the screen is frozen because someone is doing a super, nothing you input will register. That’s why it is hard to counter a suepr with another super…you have to guess when the freeze will end so you can input your super completely in the small window of time that remains.
Oh, and about my Alex…it sucks. My 3s skills have definitely gone down this summer(either that or everyone else has gotten better…probably a combo of both). What I need is to stop playing CvS2 and bet back into shape in 3s.
Who is JR, by the way? The JR I’m thinking of plays Akuma.
Also, Marcus…I’m not very sure how to play Necro. I’ve never really seen anyone play him but me, and I myself am very curious as to how he’s ‘supposed’ to be played. I’ll have to see some of those vids with that one guy who uses Necro…forget his name.
Anyway, I think everything Abel said is right, for the most part. The kick overhead does hit a lot more often than the punch one, but they both have advantages. The punch one can go much further, and it takes you off the ground(good for dodging low attacks, of if your opponent does a super at least you don’t eat the whole thing). The kick one moves Necro back a little bit, which is good for dodging attacks. The EX kick overhead is insane, though, because it moves you back a lot, and then moves you forward a hell of a lot. Also, I think his best ground pokes are his crouching forward and his standing roundhouse. Crouching forward is his longest ranged low attack(isn’t too slow considering its range, too), and his standing roundhouse is good for hitting ppl right as they’re about to jump. The speed/angle on the standing roundhouse isn’t like Dhalsim…it’s very difficult to catch someone out of the air with it unless they’re like full screen distance.
I don’t know…I don’t think Necro is a very good character. His long-ranged normals have almost no priority, and really aren’t very good at poking. Curtis can always hit my foot/arm with a standing strong from full screen away. While Necro has some interesting stuff up close, he obviously isn’t a very good close-ranged character. So I don’t know…I really don’t know how to play him.
JR is the asian guy with glasses that uses the khaki color Dudley. He’s the one that has a considerably different playing style when it comes to using Dudley, considering he’s an “import” from Family Fun. His nick on srk is IronFist.
Two exceptions: Elena’s vanilla sweep, if timed right, makes her lay flat as the super comes out, which basically moves her out of the hit frames of the first hit from hammer frenzy. The other is ibuki’s slide, which, if done far enough away as the super starts, will hit hugo before his hand hits her.
edit: UNLESS, of course, he was delaying it both times I successfully stopped it with those normals. Thing is, I’ve never had him execute it more than once on each of those, and I was close enough so that he’d have no reason to delay it. We’ll have to test this.
