Team Control

even though i haven’t played the game since the day after our meeting i’m thinking up new moves for oro. something like playing mind games with the other person by making them believe i’ll do a command throw but instead give them 40 lashes. also, i might start chipping with tengu stones more often than before rather than wating for the big strike since oro regains his meter with ease. also, it appears dashing charge buffering with oro isn’t good since it didn’t work out against you guys that effectively so i’m going to drop that.

what about necro users? do they jump a lot like me? i’m going to have to fix necro’s springs.

anthony, you do not want to provoke anybody to unleash the power of 12… trust me.

Necro users = me + chris. I jump a lot, chris sticks to the ground, yet both are effective in their own demented ways.

Camelot was fun tonight, I enjoyed watching Anthony beat Paulee’s Ken, and get thrown around like a rag doll by the makoto user. Friggin’ marvin was punking whatever was left on the other 3s machine with his diabolical urien and hugo O_o.
And, as for me, I beat paul’s yun, so i was satisfied. Learned to see a LOT of openings that I didn’t notice that he had before, but i have to get faster and throw in a few uppercut xx supers

there was also a lot of jailbait

edit: eliot…you’re not serious about what we said tonight, right? O_o about the team and all.

wow abel, you’re really into 3s. too bad you were brainwashed by that crapness vs snk2 game during my uci undergrad years. guys, count me in this camelot/wherever exactly 1 week and 24 hours from now.

about eliot, he says things when he loses a bunch. ah the good ol’ days… we used to make him say “i’m going to save money by quitting 3s and picking up knitting…”

before knowing option select i was confused. i have japanese ibuki footage and almost all of the ibuki users would do a crouching jab upclose in throwing range. only ibuki. i was thinking that a crouching jab can be parried hi or low so perhaps the japs knew something i didn’t about the priority of the jab… then i see chris poking upclose with crouching jab… so i was like what’s going on here. it turns out that the japs were donig option select and well… chris was just poking… or maybe doing optin select.

LOL…I’m just trying to simulate the crapness vs SNK 2 strategy of run + c.lp, run + c/.p, repeat infinitely. Just about everything I try to do in 3s is based on what I learnt from playing CvS2. So, yeah…just poking.

hehe. see, cvs2 wasn’t always gay. Pre-c.fierce sagat and RC electricity blanka, the game was all about who could hit hard and make openings, almost like KOF. I thought that was alright, but, it had a few kinks to what worked what didn’t, almost as if CVS2 was just CVS2: beta test version. When RCs rolled around, and people started using the aforementioned sagat/blanka squads, i turned my attention to the humble machine near SC2.

And Chris, I know exactly what you mean about the c.lp stuff in CVS2. Oh man, you figure if it works on one capcom game, it ought to work on the other, otherwise why would shit like jab, dash, throw (JDT, baby!) work on CVS2? O_o

Yeah I know, but I have a hard time setting ppl up for the unblockable or maybe it’s just that I’m always trying to do advanced unblockables. But Tyrant slaughter seems to really fit my playing style with Urien.

Good games at camelot last evening. Lemme know when you guys hittig the arcades again so I can improve!

I have a little errata for your set of commandments:

2)When the going gets rough, the more we sweep.

too true.

we all must be present at one of these up and coming tournaments!

by the way, anthony and marvin, good show making all the ZotZone regulars your new mortal enemies. Now they’ll think of nothing else but destroying ken and urien players, or have nightmares of overhead xx super, and s.jab, c.short xx tyrant slaughter.

and just for the hell of it, i include the following

ok, here’s a dilemma. if there are team tourneys then how are we going to divide ourselves up and what characters are we giong to use? i still propose an all tweleve team which gives us a proper team name of 10-11-12.

oh, eliot, i was just kidding when i said, “there can be only one remy player in team control” before i proceeded to dash buffer you down.

who needs camelot golfland when you got zot zone… which has a rating of 4 out of 5!!!

That’s easy, David. We have six members. All we do is put our names in a hat and see which three get grouped together. Then again, if one or two of us can’t make a team tournament, we’ll just have to group together the “best” players we have. Oh well. I guess that would rule me out. :frowning:

Cheers.

Rock, paper, scissors.

10-11-12, that cracks me up, heh.

I’m down with rock, paper, scissors, but maybe we should just decide beforehand who woulsd go. Just have a different, but balanced, team each time. We should have a couple characters at each of our disposals: I can play remy, elena, sean, and possibly ryu. Athony’s alex isn’t bad at all, and marvin could play hugo. David could just play whatever character his opponent is going to play for maximum humiliation.

Well…

Usually in Team Tournaments you’re stuck with just ONE character throughout the entire thing. So we’d have to definitely pick our strengths, Eliot.

Cheers.

ok, i think our best characters are the following:

anthony: yun/ken - but yun’s improving daily
abel: dudley
marvin: urien/ken - but i haven’t seen him use ken lately
chris: alex/Q - i’m leaning towards alex
eliot: remy
me: 12/oro - i honestly think 12’s my better character. it was hard to air dash with mas sticks. eliot can verify this.

are we in agreement? who is going to the tips and tricks tournament?

Let me modify this, considering david’s and abel’s remy are better than mine:

Abel: remy
David: remy
Eliot: …none… elena, maybe?

Your twelEve is better than your oro, I think, and Chris’ alex is pretty damn good, but he needs to stop depending on the opponent’s inability to parry. He won’t be able to fall back on that during tournament matches when the opponent will parry those jump-ins 95% of the time. And marvin plays a mean hugo, I think he should consider that option.

I won’t be going to that tournament, but I will be going to the sucks and blows tournament for down-and-out players looking to take up other, more constructive, activities, such as knitting.

you gotta quit with the put-me-downs, man. The only reason my remy would be any good is because I’ve been using the ‘sonic boom’ people since the days of SF2:CE. I picked up a crap load of stuff for Charlie in SFA2, and been using the same strategies over and over; some of them carry over to remy in 3s, so, i use them. But honestly, my whole game revolves around pokes into zoning games, so that i could set people up for super. I have no defense, offense, just this pseudo-rush down that’s really nothing more than pushing you to the corner until you try and jump. If you want, the next time you go to ZZ or we have a get together, leave your pride/ego/whatever at the door and we’ll sit down and i’ll show you every single ugly trick i’ve got with sonic booms that doesn’t really involve charge buffering or whathaveyou. Your remy needs polishing, if i give you my “insight” and you put it to use with the charge buffering, you’ll see they go cock in mou…i mean, hand in hand _ where was my mind? Anyway, Dudley’s where I’m at; I just like knowing a little about all the characters so i don’t get stuck in a situation where I’ll think “crap, how the fuck do i play against a ____ user?”

Also, chris, if you’re up for it, the next time i see you, i’ll show you some things that, albeit a little bit on the turtling side, help build meter like a mothersucka with Alex, at the same time, you’re guaranteed a friggin’ wall, unless you go up against parry whores cough anthony cough but, you can still get around it

I’d like to know where you guys like to play. What exactly is this Team Control?

We’re just a bunch of friends who play 3S together. Most of us are either current students from UCI (closet remy, squeamz, flabbergasted) or alumni (david, mutantxp) or other (rustlbade).

As far as where we play, sometimes we have getogethers at someone’s house. Other times we frequent Camelot and Super Arcade. We’re terrible so don’t go on thinking we can hang with Team FF or R.U.N. Not yet at least anyway.

Oh and Eliot you are going with us to the Tips and Tricks. Hell if youre not going to join the tourney then at least be there for the 5 dollars unlimited free play.

Cheers.

I’ll go to tips and tricks, I think that’s just after a midterm of mine.

Abel, it could have been that I was having an off-day, as I sometimes do, where I try things that just don’t work or lose my ability to do things I normally do well. My elena is honestly just as good, I believe.

Believe me, I’ve done a lot of work in the past few weeks shining remy, that urien dude has nothing on my remy.

i think anthony/mutantxp made the name up. if i had my way it would be TEAM 7-12. well, i expected a more elaborate name from an english major.

3 of us play at uci during gaps in the class schedule, 2 of us have the ryu mentality - touring all of s.cali for 3s comp, and me - i’ll start touring too once may rolls by. hey, maybe we’ll drop by shatto one day.

edit: i hope once i get my mas stick back the joystick doesn’t “mysteriously” fall off… since a certain someone is practicing charge moves on it.
