As for FF tourning the games to tourney mode, I don’t see why not especially if we pay for our own games I mean thats guaranteed income for the games. All they gotta do is put it on tourney mode which means you have to pay to play all your games. I think Samoans knows the manager there so that wouldn’t be that much of a problem if he talked to them. Well I’ll catch you all there today at about 400:D

Okay Blunt members, heres the deal. Would anyone be down for a tourney thurs. night at about seven at FF? Pureelite, erikbuild, and I were playing CvS2 on tourney mode today and everything seemed pretty good with the sticks/buttons. I’m thinking that signups would start at about 630 or 645. Sooo would anyone be down to have a little tourney on thurs. night? Just brainstorming a little to see if there will be a decent turnout, I figure at least seven or eight people would be a pretty good turnout for a tourney on such short notice. Who knows, peeps from HB’s may even come down and it may be a little bigger. As for the entrance fee, I’m just thinking that we could either make it like two or three dollars. Winner probably would take all or we could give money for the top three places. If not, then the entrance fee could be a little higher, but probably not more than five bucks. The only problem is that we need to pay to play our own games so this could cause a problem, even though it only costs a quarter on tourney mode. We could probably remedy this by using a couple of bucks from the entrance fees for the games. Now I know that this is on such short notice but I figure that we could probably use this as a test run which could help us indicate if we would be able to run tourneys at FF. Who knows, if it works for CvS2 then maybe we could have it for other games like MvC2, SC2, or even T4:D So post your thoughts/ideas here and if you do know if you can go or not. I figure that the HB peeps read this thread along with their own so they would probably be able to post as to whether or not they are interested in attending. Umm thats pretty much it for now, Oh yeah post any suggestions/comments/ideas about anything. Feedback is greatly appreciated:D OH almost forgot anyone think it should be single/double, 2/3 or 3/5. hahahha psx2000 missed out. Well one suggestion is to have 2 chairs for the peeps playing. I know PureElite got a stool if you guys could get another one that would be cool. I also think with the cvs2 machine where is was last time i seen next the the mvc2 by the big truck game in the corner, it could be hard to keep a big crowd back there. Maybe move to a more roomy place. Other things try post up flyers and talk to people and get them to enter. Sorry i cant make this one but i’m sure people will show. Another thing, isnt this the same night as that venus tourney? That may cause conflict.

I don’t see it as much of a problem. Paying for your games and having a sub-five-dollar entry fee is significantly cheaper then the $10 mininmum for tournaments (atleast I remember the DDR and Pump It Up tournaments were like that) with a 10 people minimum (or was it more?).
For me the format can be anything. I’m thinking most people would rather have atleast a double elimination 2/3 match but there might be a time constraint issue? Also remember that such a format forces the participants to pay for more games. That shouldn’t be a problem for most of us but you know there’ll be those people who always come with less than $2 to their names and want to score a million free games since they know they can’t win the tournament.
Maybe for now we should run either a double elim one game or single elim 2/3. If people don’t know by now, I’ve been itching for a one game single elim. for some time now after reading the SBO journals. It’s quick, dirty, and cuthroat. :evil: And with the machine on tournament mode, it’s totally doable. I guess I’ll save that for a Friday or Saturday night when we’re playing anyway . . .

The thing about this is that one of the workers, Daniel, is pretty cool with a lot of the players at FF. He works thurs night thats why we’re trying to do it then. Erikbuild talked to him and he said he could put it on tourney mode for us. So props to erikbuild for even trying. As a backup plan if he is not able to, then we can just run the tourney with something like 2/3 single elim. That way, the person that wins doesn’t have to change his/her team, only the loser. As for time constraint. If (and this is a big if) everyone shows up on time, it shouldn’t be more than two hours which should not conflict with the venus tourney at 12:D sooo vote on the format 2/3, single/double or whatever:D Quite frankly i must say that ernestw’s idea of cuthroat cvs2 is very appealing to me:D okay gotta get back to work:D
