I actually got my fiancee to try Super Turbo the other day. Taught her how to use chun li. Taught her how to spam the kick button… She beat my Zangief… lol.
I actually heard a rumor that Chun was designed to be easy so girls could pick her up and do well.
She will take it much more serious if this stipulation was implemented.
If you are being serious, I wouldn’t disagree because her j. roundhouse to sweep seems faster and more safe than any other characters. Or I could be crazy.
Stay away from techniques and strats in the beginning for awhile and just let her learn the way you did. By having fun and hitting the buttons. Also, don’t be critical of anything she does.
And block a lot less when playing her in matches so that she can get the satisfaction of landing hits and winning every now and again.
lol i thought i was the only one who heard that
my friends used to say stuff like that that back when i was a little kid. like chun is “cheap” (lightning legs lol) because shes the girl char and girls cant play vidyagaems so they need help. good people use ryu ken or guile, only girls and people who suck pick chun.
…
i play chun now, but i dont think i would have picked her back then.
I heard this as well.
When I was little the older kids said that to me at the arcade and told me I was a huge vagina if i picked chun. I secretly still play chun
In complete seriousness though, man…

Cooking is really easy, very rewarding, and a lot of fun. I promise you’ll enjoy it.

I guarantee that your girlfriend will like the game, but she will have a scrubby attitude/outlook for a loooong time.
I want nekkid pics of ur girl playing SF.
Last Saturday me and my girl played some ST.
I finally got a second controller and she was all excited like: “So now we can play together?!”
I asked her if she wanted to play some SF and she said sure. For some reason she really likes Blanka, probably because he’s a monster and he’s hairy. She fucking hates Chun.
We played quite a lot of matches, I mostly refrained from using specials, trying to think back to the way I played when I played SF for the very first time.
Because she picked Blanka (she tried out everyone, but he’s her favorite), I figured I’d teach her electricity, since all you have to do is mash. Later, when she picked Ryu, she accidentally threw a hadoken.
When she asked me how she did that, I explained to her to press down, then forward and punch, so at first she tried tapping down, releasing, tapping forward and then hitting punch. When I told her to perform the movement more smoothly, she immediately got it and started spamming fireballs like crazy, even though she thought using fireballs was “gay”.
After we were done, she said she thought it was fun. I guess I’ll have to learn Blanka, or at least read up on him so she can develop a nice style. For now we’re probably gonna keep mashing though. :wgrin:
Just tell her you’ll get her a designer handbag/shoes if she beats you, I’m sure she’ll play night and day till she achieve this goal, lol
You’re lucky your girlfriend even tries SF (and likes it!), mine mostly plays Zoo Keeper and Brain Age on her DS…but, boy, can she cook! :wgrin::wgrin:
i wish i could get my girlfriend to play street fighter. she HATES playing video games. i think she is just scared of losing in a 1p or 2p game of any kind, even when i try to help her out and make it very simple. besides that she is pretty awesome.
My girlfriend went through the same thing. What I’ve found is that a lot of the time they only get good enough to beat you, and talk about it. Let her win, a lot. I mean a lot, try to get her friends involved in the game for fun. Cosmetics in videogames help with getting a lot of girls to play, so give her a character that she can relate to (Doesn’t neccessaril yhave to have their father killed by a psychotic dictator.) Once you give her time to get good at the game, she’s going to play it and enjoy it because it’s fun, I mean she’ll be bugging you to play it. That’s when you switch things around a bit- Start beating her in the game, but barely. She’ll want to get better, and you’ll both be having a lot more fun.
I tried this experiment with a few of my music-crazed friends and my girlfriend. Within a week few of em were begging to play King of Fighters.
