TE2 Crossbone - Electrical mods made significantly easier for the Madcatz TE2

Even though I went to that page more than once, I somehow missed that the board could be added to a cart at the bottom. >_< Thanks.

my buddy bought the crossbone for te2 he was wondering if u have to bridge the invert on the TE2 Crossbone???

Depends on if he wants to have the primary system that is connected to the USB OUT be the secondary system that’s installed.

ok thanks phreakzoid

Just got done with my installation. TE2 Xbone using a ps360 with 20pin headers, ribbon cable, using home for the switch. I installed everything like the instructions said, sometimes when I plug into the xbox360 it doesnt do anything, and when it does work, all the inputs are messed up on the stick. Start is jab, select is home and other buttons are messed up as well. When I plug into the pc is recognized as fight stick, and when I hold down home on the stick while plugging in it is recognized as PS360+1.4. When I go into the controller settings number 5 shows like if it was pressed down, all others activate when pressed.

I checked the voltage on the PS360 pcb and it’s 5.16v and is the same at all other VCC connections in there. I checked all pcb’s visually with a magnifying glass for any shorted connections and did not find anything.

Any ideas?

Everything works fine all the time on the xbone.

Pics of the install please, that way I can double check things.

Never mind. I redid the whole installation again, using all new wires, etc, now everything works properly, something was shorted or had a bad connection somewhere.

Thanks for making this product and the support you offer, it really makes for an easy project and a clean installation.

How would I go about getting the lights to turn on when it’s on 360 mode? I see there is a place that says lights on the crossbone and when I short it the lights go on…

Glad you’re up and running, that’s good to hear.

Yep, the LED_ON jumper can be shorted to allow the LEDs to function across both system types. I haven’t documented that yet, but you kinda figured it out already :stuck_out_tongue:

Yo damn! We had that feature all along!? Also, Lemony where’s that tutorial on getting using one cable and legacy support for ps360?

Is this setup supposed to remember that is on XB360 mode? Seems like I have to unplug the stick and replug it back in holding down home every time I shut down my console.

Also sometimes it doesnt quite go into XB360 mode, and I have to hold down home and plug in and out until it works.
When it doesnt detect properly the PS360 led will flash on 1 quick time (as I plug it in holding down home) and then it comes on for 1 second, then goes off and nothing works. When it works properly it flashes on quick as I plug it in, then the light comes on for 1 second, then it flashes a few times and stays solid.

When I check on PC it detects as PS360+ when holding down home (all buttons detected, nothing grounded), and just fightstick when I dont hold home plugging it in.

Thanks for the help. Just trying to get these last few kinks ironed out.

If the console kills power even briefly to the peripherals when it shuts down you’ll have to replug every time, there is no memory on the board to keep things simple. I thought when you power off the system it puts them into standby, but it may just kill the ports briefly to power cycle nicely.

edit: you can use the ‘invert’ jumper to fix this as well, making XB1 your secondary system. This way if you’re playing on PS3/360 and leave it plugged in, a system shut down won’t matter it’ll just boot into PS360+ mode regardless if you don’t hold Home.

*Also sometimes it doesnt quite go into XB360 mode, and I have to hold down home and plug in and out until it works. *

Detection issues like that usually stem from a cable length thing. You could try reducing the USB wire length from the PS360+ to the SYS.2 spots, but it may not help. You can also try holding down home to swap to PS360+ mode while holding MP at the same time to see if forcing 360 mode helps that. The odd button holding for that is why I generally use the ‘invert’ jumper so that forced modes on the PS360+ are easy… and I can swap to XB1 holding Home.

If you don’t use the invert solder jumper that’s normal.

I used the invert method and shortened the D+D- wires to like 4" and it detects much better now. I would say it’s good 90% of the time, other than that I just have to unplug and plug in holding MP and it works right away. Once again thanks for all your help, finally cleared my desk of all these different sticks.

like to see pics of ur setup

Updated the OP with a nifty install video by Lemony Vengeance, take a peek!

nothing fancy…

I’m waiting for a regular game pad crossbone to arrive so I can play killer instinct with my hitbox. since I already have a crossboned TE2 would it be possible to piggy back the hitbox into the TE2 crossbone as a temporary fix?

you could connect all wires and vcc/gnd but i would just wait

Hello guys,

I just installed my TE2 Crossbone but I cannot get it to recognize at all. I get a a flash of red light for a sec when plugging it in. Its the red lights on top where the LED switch. Sometimes its 1 light and sometimes its 2 lights. But it will flash then nothing.

HEre is pics of my installation. Keep in mind this is my first time soldering so that may be the reason why its not working. Hope anyone can help!
