TE2 Crossbone - Electrical mods made significantly easier for the Madcatz TE2

So I’ve ran into a wall. I wired up the crossbone and ps360+ for RJ45 like instructed here: forums.shoryuken.com/discussion/comment/9797633/#Comment_9797633. Then I wired up the crossbone usb out and the brook fightboard to the imp similar to the directions here: forums.shoryuken.com/discussion/comment/8903223#Comment_8903223. I got nothing but a quick flash of the red leds again. I then removed usb out data lines for the crossbone from the imp and wired another pair of wires from 5 and 6 of the ps360 to the imp. Now i get the crossbone/xbone pcb working fine. The ps360+'s white led flashes and shows up as ps4 wired gamepad on my pc. Also no switching being done by the imp to the brook fightboard at all. I’m totally stuck and don’t know what to try next.

I know I need to clean up my soldering on the ps360+, but I’ve verified that all pcbs are working when isolated from the imp. So there’s something wrong with how it’s all wired to the imp.

Yeah I agree, your soldering needs work, especially on that brook PCB.

Soldering Tip: apply your solder to the pad/wire you are trying to solder and not the Iron.
Most solder has a resin flux core, this resin eats away at any oxidation on the pads (and allow the solder to stick or wet the surface) and it allows the solder to spread to the whole pad. If necessary buy some flux and apply down some flux before you start soldering.

Your soldering when done should look like a little volcano, not a ball.
Also a bad solder join might work only intermittently or not at all.

Also why many of the GND and VCC points are left alone, you didn’t solder anything to those points.

Thanks for the tips. I’m not using any of those parts of the board, like the led section, so I just left VCC and ground alone over there. I will have just one ground wire piggybacking off the ground on the ps360+. Also the brook board does get recognized fine when I run a USB wire to it by itself. So it’s just the imp puzzle I’m trying to solve and then I’ll go back and clean up.

Remember All boards need to be connected to power and ground

They are. I have ground an VCC of the brook going to the ps360+

And where is the PS360+ getting its voltage from? Its not that clear in the photo what is being lead to where.

Cause I am looking at this, and I see the VCC and GND points are empty. I do not see the outgoing USB cable that well in this photo.

Ps360+ is connected to the crossbone and getting it’s voltage from it via 20pin harness. The is no outgoing usb. I’m using Rj45 from the ps360+ like this TE2 Crossbone - Electrical mods made significantly easier for the Madcatz TE2

Just noticed you may be talking about outgoing USB on the Imp. Those two lines are going back to pins 5/6 on the ps360+ Like pictured here. Xbox One PadHack Thread - Calling the goons "Toodles, Gummowned, Phreak and You" Do it for the Kids

you do not have a wire from VCOL to vcc anywhere else. That is most likely your problem.

That is necessary when using ethernet rather than usb on the imp.

The rj45 is actually coming from the ps360+, not the imp. Anyway, I added the wire and still got the same issue. I’m giving up for now am will try to readdress it sometime between and when SF V drops. At least I finally got the ps360+ and crossbone connected with rj45 like I was supposed to do ages ago.

I went back and rewired everything. Everything works except for switching by the imp. When I plug in. It defaults to my crossbone and I can use the switch button on my crossbone to go to the Brook board. However I can’t use the switch button on my imp to switch to ps360+. It may have something to do with the jumpers on the imp. If I desolder jumper SJA and SJC, it defaults to the ps360+ and then I can’t switch to the crossbone.

What is your switch button on the imp?

and the crossbone

4K on the crossbone. It works that switch works fine. Home on the imp. It doesn’t work. Also tried select on the imp. It didn’t work either

edit: formatting was all jacked
ok so you have :

. USB
PS360+ - Imp - Crossbone - Brook
. Home 4K

Correct?

So when you say it doesn’t switch, you mean that side isn’t recognized or it never switches?

Everything is right except I’m running Rj45 from the ps360. It’s just like this post, except replace the pad with the crossbone. Xbox One PadHack Thread - Calling the goons “Toodles, Gummowned, Phreak and You” Do it for the Kids

@Vicko or anyone else. Is there a pin on the crossbone for the Haptic or lock button could you point out where? I was looking to solder it for use with Brooks PCB touchpad function.
