TE Stick replacement Screws?

M4 x .7 x 12mm Button Head Socket Screws - Red Anodized Qty. 25

should this fit in the top panel for the TE sticks? they seem way too long…

Cool. I just had a big order from mcmastercarr come in too. They have pretty much everything and the shipping is always fair; my last order was $58 and shipping via ups was only $4.60. Good company. They carry a lot of rubber feet too and also standoffs.

The pic is probably just a stock pic; JDM specified 12mm and he’s pretty much never wrong.

yea lol, im thinking “12mm is 1.2cm… that cannot be 1.2cm” when looking at the pictures.

and is there another place to get black aluminum m4 screws? The only place I found that had the aluminum ones were fastener-express but they don’t have the M4 x 12mm in black :expressionless:

would the ones from mcmaster be able to resist rust? That is the main problem i had with my stock TE screws… they rusted on me.

edit: they are stainless I guess they should be okay, although im sure the ones in the TE stock were stainless too… meh

Thanks for that link.

@butteroj, I’ll have to check out that link. thx XD

I think it’s the black coating on the TE screws that rust, so if you really want to be sure you can get plain stainless. (McMaster describes black oxide as offering “mild rust resistance”…) Unless you have gray art on your stick it’s probably going to look weird though.
On the other hand, McMaster sells their screws in packs of 50, so you can just keep replacing them if they start to rust.

lol that seems kind of… pointless though. Damnit. I might have to go that route tho.

Is it really humid where you guys play?
I’m just asking because I have black oxide coated screws from mcfeely’s and haven’t had any rust issues.

no, altho could it be moisture from skin?

Could be.
In the mcfeely’s description for the black oxide coating for their screws:
“Black Oxide is a very popular plating because it has a very uniform black color (perfect for exposed screw heads on ?High-Tech? styled products), and it provides just enough corrosion protection to prevent rusting of imported fasteners during their 3-week boat ride. Plated with Black Oxide for purely decorative reasons.”

I guess time will tell with those. I’m using them on my SimpleCases.

I don’t know if other people’s experiences are the same, but on my TE I only have trouble with the lower-left screw (ends up under my joystick-wrist) and the bottom-center screw (under my button-pressing palm). They’re kind of whitening, so I don’t know if it’s rust or just the coating being worn away.

One other option: black nylon. No idea exactly what it looks like, but it definitely won’t rust.
And if you really want to experiment: off-white nylon. Then add vinyl dye to get the color you want.

but is nylon strong enough to hold it in place? can’t it crack?

It would probably be ok so long as you didn’t torque the living hell out of it.

Sorry to bump, but what are the sizes of the stock screws used to keep the JLF in?

I mean not the mounting plate to the JLF. The mounting plate to the case.
