|| Taokaka || >:3 Edition

Keep this in mind her taunt combos are not easy not easy at all.

well i was working on this last night… not that combo specifically but something similar…i have a question did you do j.2d~b and as soon as you touch the ground, and do you try to go for 5c… because sometimes you have to delay it just a little … like for example … 4bc -> 236c -> 5b(here you have to delay, like once their bodied hits the ground you can’t hit it if it’s bounching you will whiff it completely) then you go into 5c 2d~6 and continue from there.

I was also trying out her 6a(2hit) j.a -> j.c ->236b -> j.2d~b-> taunt i could not find the timing for the taunt … like it’s either i am too early or too early lol…i tried delaying but if i did hit the taunt i couldn’t follow up…so i guess on this one iam in the same boat lol

I have a question. While I do understand the difficulty of trying to pull off a taunt combo, I think I’m getting used to it. As of now, I use the following.

6A > j5D~b > Taunt/5C > 236AA/236CC > Follow-up

However, I’ve seen some Tao players use j2d~b and connect as if it were no problem. To actually connect it, do I have to jump forward a bit to connect it, or am I just not fast enough to pull it off from just jumping up normally?

What’s dead angle?

It’s not called Dead Angle in this game, but it does the same thing. Hit 6+A+B on block and you automatically throw out a counter, costs 50% tension.

Like Rachel throws out a 6B, but Taokaka’s 6B is kind of slow so I don’t know what move she uses.

Taokaka throws out a 2D for some reason…

Oh that’s just an alpha counter you fools.

Poor Taokaka thread moved to the second page… I don’t even play Tao, but its sad to see something like this…

BUMP

I’ve found that j.C that connects as you’re about to land is a great way to screw with drive spamming noels. Follow up with whatever you can depending on distance (3C or 5B or another 5C). Use those 3 jumps you have to confuse her as to when you’re going to land.

So, I main Litchi and I’m getting frustrated with her overly complicated, character specific combos. Think I’m going to try Taokaka.

Yeah, what a shame, Tao is a great character.
I’ve actually been playing a ton of Tao in secret, and I gotta say, she’s a load of fun.
Her combo’s look difficult, but once you get the rhythm down, there not as hard as they seem. Her high/low mix-ups are sick, and any little poke can lead to an extensive combo. Her taunt rocks, her grab super catches scrubs off guard, and best of all she’s great against Nu

Definitely going to be maining Taokaka when I pick this up next week.

Just a question. Do most of Tao’s combos usually start while crouching. I played for the first time today and I was mainly messing around in practice mode, but most of my stuff came out from 2a > randomness.

Not really. Tao combo’s can come from quite literally anywhere. j.c, 2A, 6A, 6C, 5B, 3B, 3C all start her BnB combo’s. It’s all about getting inside, mixing up, and landing that one poke to start her 20 hit combo’s

Haha, yeah I picked up tao as my secondary awhile ago because she has simple enough combos that are very satisfying and a good amount of depth if I feel like going further with her. Sometimes you just gotta back away from litchi for a bit as she can take up so much time. But I always come back hungry.:china:

2a is a nasty addiction. Its so fast that I can see why you like it but BB’s damage scaling (see; proration) makes it useless.

5b is way better.

I need rehab to break this habit.

it’s okay, we’re here to help…
We’re here to help

Anyone want to play my Tao online? People online are fuckin’ monsters, especially with that robot chick.

i like to finish off my drive loops with an air throw rather than Cat Spirit Two. it does more damage, you can only do it after a drive though not the j.c. the only risk is they can tech it but you can do this and mix it up so they dont see it coming every time and tech it.

Is there a general flow to fighting against Rachel?

When I fight decent ones, I’m usually getting damaged beyond belief or my guard crushed while trying to block against corner onslaught/“spinny” moves. 20 seconds into the match I’m usually half dead.

I usually just try dancing around until I have an opening but Tao doesn’t seem to hurt her much. The only combo i can consistently land on her is 2a > 5b > 2b > 6a > j.a > j.c(repeat). My attempts at starting a drive loop combo with 6c or 3c usually get owned, but thats probably just me not knowing when it’s save to get close.

With Rachel, it seems like the best idea really is to just dance around and not get hit by dumb shit. 6b? C.S. 2? I dunno, just ideas.

I like that, because I somehow learned a little mixup, people actually say good things about my Tao. It makes my ego thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis big…though I still suck.
