Man, dude’s taking forever to upload my matches was looking forward to getting even a small critique, any help I can get before the tournament is good.
This weekend is the weekend I learn a taunt combo (and the more advanced drive loops). Even if it takes hours of practice.
But it felt like I was reaching across the room to hit taunt. I have a couple ?s if anyone has time.
When someone talks about a “drive loop” does that refer to something like 2D~9 j.C 9D~9 j.C 9D~9 yada yada…or does it mean a true loop like 6A (one) (2D~B taunt 214D) repeat brackets?
Do you guys find it hard to so 236BB 236BBBB on smaller characters? Not even Carl, but like Jin and Noel as well. I think its techable in longer combos, but it may just be me.
Has anyone doticed that your fourth drive in the air cannot be a 9D? It changes to 6D. It stops me from doing 236CC 2D~9 j.C 9D~9(x3) 236BB j.C 9D (won’t come out) 236BB 236BBBB.
There’s two drive loops: There’s the horizontal one (usually started from 3c) and the vertical one (the one generally started from taunt combos). The actual loop is j. c --> 6d~6/9d~9 x n.
Against smaller character (Jni, Noel, Carl, Rachel, Tao), you can use 236bbbb for more consistency.
Well when you did that combo, you ran out of drives. The combo should look like this:
236cc --> 2d~9 --> **j. c --> 9d~9 --> 236bb --> j. c --> 9d~9 --> 236bbbb
**
The ender in bold is easier if you do it off of anything that has a spaced 5c --> 2d~9 in the combo.
And for bonus, I transcribed one of the combos from the combo video. This combo is pretty easy to execute, and works extremely well vs. Noel, Jin, and Rachel.
(5b/2b) 3c --> 5d~6 --> j. 2d~b --> 5b --> 2d~9 --> (j. c --> 9d~9)x2 --> 236bbbb
Okay this is pissing me off, and I haven’t figured out the properties of Tao’s stupid pounce super where she claws your shit up. This move is a throw, cannot be teched because its a super, will grab you out of midair, will find you no matter where you are on the screen. I use Noel and will post this in the Noel thread as well, but when the bitch does the pounce what can you do? The only way I’ve been able to do it is with an anticipation double jump that gets you too high to be grabbed, but the cat has meter all the time. I am so stumped. Any help from the Tao crowd is appreciated.
It’s very simple. You’ll figure it out. VERY simple. I’m just gonna say that it has 2 weaknesses: just pay attention to the situations under which it misses. Hope you’re not too busy spamming D to do that. I won’t do any more than that. This super has saved my ass so many times against good Noel players that I would be committing suicide by just giving it away.
…It’s just like he said, you ran out of drives. You can’t do drives in the air infinitely. If you could, you could run away in the match forever, which would be incredibly dumb.
Do you mean 6A? If so, it’s 5B, 6A(1hit), jc, j.2D~B, into the rest.
Counter-acting this super pisses me off more then most things in the game so far. If you still can’t figure it out after a couple days, I’ll say something, but it really is easy.
Without the counter-action, that move would be too good. If you block stringed into it, all they could do is go back in time and pick Jin/Ragna so they could SRK out of it.
I think I worded that wrong. I meant “counter-act” as “something to counter it so it doesn’t happen”, not “using the counter-action move”. I suppose that could work too, though I haven’t seen it done before. But no, it’s much simpler then that.
First a few words on how awesome the grab super is. I’m sure everyone’s realized its strength, but I love how it can counter IADs towards you as well. Its arc is just enough that any IAD will be caught by it and pull them to the ground. Only part that sucks is the top 3 all have easy projectiles that interrupt it.
Secondly: didn’t get any shit done with Tao this weekend. Stupid parties/etc. Don’t they know I need to practice for a srsbsness online tournament? GEEZ
Thanks for the words on the drive loop enders, I’ve definitely been having trouble making those connect, so I’ll keep that in mind.
If you have extremely good reactions, pounce n punt is godlike. It you can react with it vs slow moves or moves with lot of recovery on whiff (for example half of Tager’s shit), then you get free damage.
Just be careful since it can be ducked and super jumped iirc. And if you miss, you are probably going to lose a load of life. Someone should make a list on what you can punish on whiff with this ha.
