I’m assuming the two of you that question these things,Stash and Bender have never seen a VHS tape of SF and or marvel? Did you even know that they use to record everything on VHS even EVO.
Everything is handed to you guys,you want to learn a combo boom right there in your face,you dont have to go in training mode to LEARN it its already there sure you have to learn the timing but learning the actual combo is what matters. I remember going to my friends house when the new EVO VHS tapes would come out and watch the matches and than go play mvc2 after trying to figure out how such player did that combo! There wasnt someone there to just be like oh this is how oyu do it or a trial to teach you it. We(as in the OG community) would get 4 VHS tapes a year of combos IF we were lucky,that showed people playing. You see the combo and than you break it down figure it out yourself. Now you new school kids,get a combo assessment video every day for every single game and every single character. breaking it down for you STEP BY STEP. No real skill required.
Do you know how long it took a lot of people to learn how to OTG in Mvc2? Years. How long did it take you guys in mvc3? 2 min? BEC ITS SO SIMPLE.
It takes out the fun in the game,late night with friends eating pizza playing all night trying to learn these combos,now you just go in training mode for 5 min learn it and than go online.
Why are there so many new players in sf and such now a days? Because the game has become SO SIMPLE minded that anyone can play it. If you guys don’t think you need a trial or anything to be good id love to see you play mvc2 and do a otg. Tell me how long it takes you.
Its cool what capcom does but by making it so simple for you children of the corn takes away the roots of these games. Capcom cares about money now a days thats all.
I’m not even good in 3s but i know the basics,why? Because I actually played the game and went into a training mode that didnt teach me how to do the combos.
Also I feel like when the 3s online comes out all you new kids will be like oh yeah man iv been doing this combo since 03!!! …when you just learned it in trail mode 2 days ago lol.

I was going to type up a long thing about how dead the fighting game community would be right now if games still stuck to that same design philosophy of “go to the arcade and play, anything else doesn’t matter”, but I figured it’s not worth the time when it’ll just get trolled anyway.
