Tallahassee Thread: tribute to 2 of the greatest players leaving the scene

I still can’t see it, Jay. I mean, I get it, if Sub didn’t have to stay on the ground and if his zoning tools couldn’t be punished on reaction with teleport. Scorp maintains air and ground superiority on almost all fronts. I’d have to watch some match play to look at it further.

EDIT: I’m in Tampa until tomorrow, then I’ve got work, so I can’t do much.

I have to question

I’m questioning a bit of that tier list. Johnny should either switch places with Sonya or join her on the A-tier. Sonya is turning out to be a superior JC now that people are discovering more with her. Also how is Kitana on A-tier while Sub is on S-tier…I mean the fan combos being 45%+ non breaker-able and her d+1 alone make her god-mode in this game. And Noob should be B-tier until the patch. He has at least a good 5 matchups that are horribad (basically anyone with a teleport) His normals are slow as cancer, and he has “nothing” to get out of pressure at this point. After the patch he’ll have armor on upknee which should solve that and a d+1 thats actually a usable poke…cuz right now its garbage take it from me. Did you get that list from TYM?

kitana should be higher but kitana players will never admit how beast she is at the game.

yeah special to special yes scorp can punish i said that. But in that match up sub’s will generally close the gap spamming d4 dashes. Once inside sub has guard/pressure string which he can use to build meter and dictate the pace of the match. While he is closing the gap with either dash blocking or d4 dashes scorpion has nothing to stop his forward momentum pressure until he has meter without taking a risk which sub can easily react to while using both of those tools. Scorp straight up has shitty gaurdstrings or pressure tools. He is really the only character in the game that has to fully commit to his mix ups’ and they are punishable. He has one safe string and it doesnt allow him to continue his pressure or hit confirm into his specials.

if you dont believe me which u guys dont listen to the players and watch some high lvl scorps play against some high lvl subs you will see how to the match goes. You cant base your judgement on ur own game experience. Because honestly none of us are at that lvl in the game where we consistently utilize every tool and exploit every aspect of the characters. Basically were still all pretty much scrubs in that game. In most everything else were at competitive levels but in mk not yet.
I broke it down to you from what i saw and generally what tom brady and reo says on stream when commentating the match. But at this point in time slip is considered as the best scorp on the planet since he is the only to have won any tourneys with him and he himself says its five five.

Also don’t listen to top players because they’re biased and always think their character is worse at everything!

well generally thats true me and adon was talking about that earlier and i mentioned that about the kitana thing but when game directors top and testers and top level players are discussing and breaking down the mechanics of a match its important to listen to there feedback especially if you can follow along in a live match. Valley stream monsters is really good especially before major tourneys because they just spend hours ironing out matches and trying to form new strats. This hold very true when tom brady is breaking down matches down to the frame advantage at various points. Since this asshole is the only one with reliable frame data on the game. And since his switch over to kung lao he has been very candite about sub zero’s functionality and match ups. Reo on the other hand is just great with everyone and has very valuable match up knowledge.

In general groups who use top tiers are very bias but most top players have no problem admitting if something is cheap or broken. What i see is if a good player wins with cheap stuff then they have a problem admitting that its a character or a tactic rather than them winning. But great players usually know that they are great and will always give themselve every chance to win. they will actually tell u to use it too i.e justin wong vs tokido… even though that didnt work out for him.

sry for the double post but grats to chris.

And Arkansas has some good marvel players they are really giving jwong and marn a run for there money. Someone earlier even bodied marn with a reverse ocv with haggar. its been fun to watch. I cant find the stream of u guys tourney however.

http://www.twitch.tv/iplaywinner/ - Mike J just got beat by Flash

shakes fist in the air FLASH METROOOOOOOOOOID

4-2 in AE (tied for 5th) and 3-2 in MK.

I was one of the only players who performed well against Flash and lost to a Balrog mirror, which was also very close each time. Really happy with my performance today.

Good seeing you guys from Tally today even though I didn’t play any games with ant of you guys.

Appreciate that Thanh. Good seeing you too. Glad you guys could make it.

Jay: you do this alot, bro, but its like Ive said before - its not that Im not listening. Ive got nothing but respect, but naturally Im going to give more weight to my experiences until proven otherwise, but because a) I’m not an idiot, and b) Im not stubborn, once I see examples of how something is done, then my stances will change.

Shoutouts to the TLH crew on the stream, making the trip to Tampa! I’m definitely down to tag along whenever there’s an extra seat (once I learn some more T.Hawk tools from Chris A). Tallahassee is gonna start bringing that cash back to our Capital economy fellas!

Hey guys let me know if you’re heading down to Tampa again. . . tip from Mike G says that Tampa Lanes has Initial D Arcade Stage 3? FFFFFF I need to play!

Good matches too Mike in Marvel man. You have a great team. I see where I went wrong when we played. And thanks for those tips too. I want to get some more games with you again. Hopefully at CEO Roosters.

Edit: Good stuff Mike.

@ Jarv. They have two initial D stage 3. Gameworks in Ybor has 2 Stage 4’s and a stage 3 in one of those motion simulator things.

I’m not going to Rooster’s :frowning: this trip drained my account lol.

Steve: learn to block. If you can’t learn that, then we can’t really go any further. Everything that T.Hawk can do revolves around him being a wall so that they have to come to you, but being a wall means learning how to deal with pressure when it arises. Ill do some more research and put him in the field more, as well as getting up with Jay to develop some technology.

Im happy to see all the new people getting better, talking about strats and leveling up the game. brings a tear to my eye to see all the old people passing the torch(and some folks still holding on to it  ).

I get to bring Rogster back for a spell. I’ve got to get my poking distances back in order. I was whiffing a few too many pokes against Flash and he was getting a s.mp punish with no trouble. Sorry y’all :frowning: King of Downback has returned.

who and where are the mk sessions going down i want to start grinding in that game. Or do i have to start something myself…
