Its subjectiveness is subjective. Ideally IMO a hitbox should hit in the direction the sprites movement occurs and should cover only the area the sprite takes up. How subjective is that? Now someone (f)lame me with “every game has weird hitting moves…blah blah blah…so and so hits on both side from full screen and backwards”
…but should it? Does that make sense?
Also, I think Mike was talking more about the ability to link 3 lights into each other…it is real lame. 2 made you commit to the next level in the magic series or not and I liked it better that way, personally. The “button layout” is fine so I don’t know why that would be annoying him.
Yeah, that’s what I meant, I just couldn’t find the right words for it. The button layout itself is fine, I just don’t like gatling attacks. Nothing is more annoying than getting hit with three to four crouching (or standing anti-air jabs from Magneto) light attacks before someone actually wakes up and realizes I’ve walked into something. My fault for getting hit? Sure, and I deserve to eat a combo, but I would feel a lot better if they actually had to have some sort of dexterity or good reactions to get one off.
As far as hitboxes, many of them just make little to no sense. Wesker 2B (hits from behind sometimes, but it still has a massive forward hitbox), Spencer’s BIONIC AAARRRM (the shit hits almost full normal jump height, it’s like an instant single-hit of Jin’s Bloodia Punch), many of Ammy’s moves and throws/throwable boxes, Hulk’s standing C, etc etc etc. So much of that is misleading and downright broken.
I know Chris Austin and I saw Taskmaster j.C definitely hit behind the motherfucker :S

In other news, I may have finally overcome my reluctance. I beat said Fei Long player 10-0 (he won only one round) when I decided to actually be smart and jab and I had to throw like there was no tomorrow to make sure I won the first set against Matthew.

Mags ability to just mash d.L’s and have them link into each other then combo with very little margin for error or commitment. Then Ron is arguing that its not relevant because the other broke characters don’t have it…?
You know im still trying to understand why people are vehemently defending this game. Are Ron Logan and Mike J still gonna play it even though Andy and Mike G are saying its a bad game? Yes. Marvel has some silly shit in it, so does super, so does bb, so does ST, so does CVS2 and the list goes on and on and on. Marvel just happens to have more silly shit in it then you’re average fighter. Im not sure who Ron is trying to convince, Andy or himself.
Nobody is trying to convince anyone of a damn thing. I just like to bitch about the game, others like to defend it (or just call out the people bitching on inaccuracies), but we all realize that nobody is going to change how they think about the game on a fundamental level.
