Whether or not P2 is worth the money I can’t really say. I haven’t beat it, but I am enjoying it a ton. It is very much the same game, though. So…you’d have to really enjoy puzzles and the writing. Haven’t played co-op yet, I expect it to be great.

MK is pretty easy. I think the only thing that I am not a fan of atm is how little time you have to confirm aerial attacks into target combos. Neutral jump punch is a bit too good, too, but at least that’s universal. Air to air the ground bounce into however much damage your execution can get you? Meh.
L.O.L into overheads that ground bounce in a normal state. Personally, that should be a counterhit property only, but -shrug-
The excessive amounts of blood are a bit of a distraction for spacing normals properly (in training mode, at least) but that may be my fault for taking a SF approach to it.
Timing is also slightly awkward. Special cancelling target combos has to be done reasonably fast within the combo, unlike MvC3 and SF4. I’m pretty confident of Mike Js ability to do buttons + DF button for a fireball combo ender and he got it all of twice last night.
Using Sonya right now cus I’m in a dive kicking mood and Kabal is… Really effin easy.
Also, the super negative edging in the air, push a button then doing the motion lead to a LOT of blocked dive kicks and teleports. Can’t jump in with kicks on Ermac and make them safe wiyh air fireballs
Is there something aside from the story and co-op? IE: An extra challenge mode or puzzle mode, preferably NOT a time-trial of the main game?
RE: MK: You guys just suck, combos are easy in that game! But for real, that Stryker trailer that just got posted up on the front page makes me want to play that dude. Him and Ermac, since Chief Thunder Andy decided he’s the embodiment of Nightwolf.
Eh, it’s day one and I was playing four characters so I can’t be butthurt about it. It’s just a new system that isn’t scrub friendly. If I want to get these buttons + fireball combos, I will need to practice.

The one problem I’m seeing with Sonya right now is that fact that it seems relatively difficult to hit confirm dive kicks into damage because they come out really effin fast. You have to essentially option select a target combo with it: if it hits, time to go for the magic and if not, well, you’re floating up in the air with recovery anyways so -shrug-. Just sounds like I’m mashing buttons, which is a complete negative in my book.
The apparent lack of crossups also effs up her air to ground efficacy up close (considering she has some SWEET ass crossups with dive kick/rainbow kick). I’m hoping the guide was wrong, but I’ll ask the MK pros in O-town this weekend. Also noting, blocking her dive kick makes her bounce up. I’m HOPING that it puts you in enough block stun so that I can’t be punished severely, but if not, the main staple of her game is going to go down the drain REAL fast. That and her juggle launcher starts with a high and her overheads, IIRC, aren’t that boss (read: no freebie combos)
Or just quite and play something you like!
It just occured to me that I probably should have came out last night since I had planned in playing in Marvel on Saturday. Oops. Mike G, you feel like helping me level up a little bit before the weekend?
Aren’t crossups in MK negated by the fact that there is a block button??
(Oh I quickly realized you meant the lack of crossups in the game, not the lack of crossups that Sonya has)
Im pretty sure the game decides whether you get crossed up or not based on when you hit the block button. if you hit the block button the moment before you get crossed up, and you get crossed up you should still get hit. Or at least thats how it felt from the demo.
Sweet ill hit you up. cant wait to get this stick modded. Definitely need the ps2 back, and im starting to be a fan of only having one stick again.

In any case, this talk of tennis reminds me why I play games - my running looks like a kid who has one short leg and a normal one - I’m bobbing all over the place.
I will, however, third that bitching about anything never allows for progress. I’ve experienced that outside of gaming as well as in. Mental barriers and excuses are the worst thing to have if one wants to get better, and just provide cushioning for your ass.

Holy crap, VS is a ton of fun. Been on GGPO playing it much of the day and winning a few here and there.
you can get crossed up in mk but there are not many things input into the system to directly take advantage of cross defenses or attacks. Like no one really has a cross up jump in although some attacks can cross up in certain situations.
i havent planned on playing ah3 but anything can change my mind as of late.

So for the folks who have MK9 hows that online going for you?
i was actually thinking about mvc3 and when it comes to tiers i think a few of the more popular characters will fall in rank and usage the more people become comfortable with using snap in’s to disturb team synergy.
Especially characters who work best with assist that are not that strong on point. For instance i think mag will fall a bit because without a quality assist his bad match ups are really fucking hard. Or even a lot of the tron abuse that goes on to improve so many people pressure. Like how even iron man can rushdown with her but with out her he is ass. I was just thinking but even saying that i dont think it will be easy to getting those first hits to break up those teams and then landing those hits on the assist characters building enough meter and so forth. But i do feel at some point the game has to evolve to that point.
Just some of my random thought i mean if everyone is already making a point to do it to phoenix teams but no one thinks about it any other time. I think killing off a good or great assist can be just as important to a match as killing off phoenix before the five. But what do i know im just a scrub at this. peace bitches.
Or even using snapbacks to reorder teams to break up the order of dhc combos especially dhc glitch combos.
