Oh you know I never mentioned it but amazingly the Pensacola area has a way way superior scene. Their players very clearly put in WORK. And it’s not just combos and such they’re also overflowing with knowledge. According to Paul they frequently run 8+ hour sessions and (this is the REAL important part) their players are glad to sit there and take an 8 hour beating.
It’s unfortunate but I’m pretty sure Marvel 3 is going to be dead when I leave. Nobody else is close to Mike’s level so he’s just going to beat you guys in to submission :(.

Ron: Sounds like they’ve got different tastes than us, man. I can’t speak for everyone, but I find it significantly harder to put in the amount of work I did for SF4 into Marvel. I’d wager to say that, until a few months ago, I put more work into MK than I did into Marvel. I’ve been wondering why that is, but needless to say, there could be a reason. Its hard to half-ass Marvel, and most of us do for whatever reasons.
Yea Marvel is a fun game, but theirs not a whole lot that makes me want to have a passion for the game. Ill play it anyday but giving it more time then say SFIV/P4A/TTT2. Probably will never happen. Ill put part of the blame for not being able to play the characters i wanted to play w/ capn am. Was kindve a turn off to be forced to pick other characters due to synergy.
As far as putting in 8 hours a day into games and getting comp… i was all for pushing for that in 2008 and it still hasnt happened. This scene and peoples schedules just dont allow for it.

I mean i work 40 hours a week as well as doing other hobbies etc and can still dedicate at least 3-5 hours a day to games if needed.
That stuff was posted on dustloop and while some of it is correct the dude who posted it said that everything might not be absolutely correct/speculation. yeah the talent is here in our scene always has been its just priority and time restrains are definitely different than most others. I cant speak for others but for myself in that I have a solid 3 to 4 hours where i can play with anyone in anything everyday but i havent gotten up with anyone at all because the hours i have are in the day during the afternoon. While everyone else is insistent at playing something at night. No fault of anyone its just the way things are/ have been.
Just my opinion but our time restrains have reflected itself in the games we excel at. Games that dont require much time to master or maintain skill in we have a greater consistency in as a community while games that need more of a dedication like a marvel or kof we just cant apply ourselves to be as good as we can should be. Also not having a consistent time and place to play has hurt some i for one would love to do/have a friday night weeklies. Since i think most of us would have that time leading into the weekend free most of the time and knowing how long sessions last wouldnt kill those of us who have to go to work in the morning during the week. Any way discuss.

I wouldn’t mind a regular Friday night casuals, especially if it let’s me play with some of the people who can’t make it to Tuesdays at Drew’s.
I have to agree with Ron, especially since casual’s numbers have been dwindling as of late. Haven’t seen James/Terrence/Ron/Matt in a few weeks and having new players drop out after one week sucks more than a Copenhagen Whore. It also doesn’t help that like Half of the community regulars don’t have a car. I don’t, Mike G doesn’t, Chris doesn’t, Ron doesn’t, Terrence doesn’t. Adamn and Jarv live on the other side of town. I know Starks is just like me when he wants to put in work in the game, but the consistent comp here is somewhat lacking. I’m honest when im saying that I want to put in more WORK especially since I’m over my 6 month long slump after the last storm in Jax. I can already feel the people ready to call me out for this post and you can if you feel like, but I meant every word that I just typed.
Speaking of Friday Night weeklies, I’ll be hosting tonight starting from 7 on, come on by, bring setups and train up for the tourney tomorrow. I can’t host every week because the bars call my name, but i don’t plan to be drinking tonight, so come on through for some games and pick up your shirts.
Also here’s a crazy thought, Dothan is only about an hour and a half away, I wouldn’t mind collaborating with those guys on a weekly basis for a casual session, from what i can tell they have a decent scene and hey why the fuck not. I’ll talk to them at the tourney, one week we go up there, one week they come down here kinda deal. Sounds like it could work.
Call me for some SCV, I still play that game online like ALOT, game is one of my favorite fighting games out and since I’m entering it at Storm I could use all the practice I can get. Hell if we can get this game lively enough maybe even Mike G will pick up the sticks more!

No your fine. I was talking to ron last night over AIM about what needs to happen. Well have to show you an alternate way to get those games on your hard drive. I just checked my comp and my new mobo doesnt have IDE spots anymore. Its all SATA nowadays.
My friend and I have been watching every new video of the jpn beta thats been put on youtube. When it comes out ill definitely be using it as an excuse to temporarily drop Diablo III. Not having alot of fun with that game. Not that its bad but i like having alot of shit to do(starcraft has spoiled me) and i hate just clicking a bunch like this shit is a LoL fest. :\ Plus i love sci-fi and i love PSO. Were probably gonna be about 15-20 deep in this one Drew might even start a clan with my boy and his friends from Boca/Miami/Ft. Laud.
Also worth mentioning that this wont be out till 2013 but it will be a Free to Play title. Which of course is where most of these non main stream games are going towards…but im almost sure theyll have a ton of ways to get money out of you with gear/DLC/expansions to the story etc.

Also ive been playing the Mechwarrior Online Closed Beta for months now and its legit turning out to be a very very damn good game like how Mw2-mw4 was. It will also be free to play.
its taken about 2 years but I think me and mike have built a nice local scene. we literally damn near trained all of our good players from square 1 up aside from a few like sherm\david. However, sherm\david have had a chance to learn off our other students we help train so our training methods have become indirect.
I couldn’t tell you how bad full schedule was when we first got him lol. He was probably average @ best but now he’s a true killer.
tally crew is welcome to come out for training sessions any weekend as long as you guys give me a few days heads up. Old tally knows that they’re always welcome in pkola!! I can literally help every single player you have as long as they’re willing to get better themselves. I can’t teach someone that doesn’t want to play to begin with >.<
also, iron dan and full schedule will be attending the tournament this weekend in tally!!
