Takeshi Shudo, creator of Pokemon anime, dead at age 61

At 4:03 AM JST on October 29th, Shudō has been pronounced dead at the age of 61.

MSN Japan reports that Takeshi Shudō, former head writer of the Pokémon anime, collapsed at Nara railway station’s smoking area around 6:00am on Thursday, October 28th. Upon being discovered by a passerby, he was rushed to the hospital and is undergoing surgery. It was soon determined at the hospital’s emergency care center that Shudō had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage in his head.

Shudō was a key part of the initial stages of the anime’s original series. He wrote the first episode, which aired over ten years ago, and was a scriptwriter for the first three movies and the Mewtwo Returns TV special. His most recent Pokémon work was in 2003, writing the screenplay for the 244th episode of the anime, Yadon’s Comprehension! Satoshi’s Comprehension! (Enlighten Up!).

In Japan, Shudō is best known as the creator of the classic manga and anime series, Magical Princess Minky Momo. His other credits include Martian Successor Nadesico and Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

I suppose. I just lost my grandmother 5 or so hours ago, so forgive me for not caring about the creator of a franchise I find irritating as the fuck. No hostility intended, I just really dislike Pokemon. Nearly half the parents on the planet it takes place in need a good long looking-at by the Department Of Children And Families. Little kids all by themselves roaming strange towns…the kidnap, rape, and murder rate must be mind-boggling…but the Pokemon League Officials keep that shit under wraps, and sends forged correspondence letters and doctored videos back to the kids’ parents. That’s just for the tamers that are famous if the ever vanish. There must be millions of Satori wanna-be’s that just…disappear.

Actors, politicians, authors. Those matter to me. A guy who ‘created’ a cartoon based on an already popular video game does not.

I hear ya man. I hate pokemon with the passion of 1000 single hosewives watching an Ike turner interview, but I have no hatred towards the man himself. I don’t think he intentionally brought such an evil to our world, and I offer my condolences to his family as well as you and yours for your grandmother. Not a good weekend.

Pokemon was the shit. Don’t know how old some of you geezers are, but when the show came out I was 10 and it was an awesome anime(Before he started sucking in the later seasons of course).
