Taito's 'Chaos Breaker': new 2d fighter!

ive played it quite a bit and really like it. the controls in terms of the timing and reaction speed on input is tight but the blurry sprites (which sorta look like killer instinct sprites) seems to have sorta loosely defined hit boxes making it seem a little rough. great fun though and the characters and moves are cool imo.

interesting systems with item use (50+ items), assist attacks, a soul calibur style weapon knockback and more stuff.

Thanks Beelze, sounds like it’s teh hotness. Official site (http://www.taito.co.jp/gm/chaosbreaker/index.html) also has gameplay footage under “Downloads” (third video from the top). Just we just have to pray that this gets picked up by SOMEONE.

going by those vids, it looks very interesting!

yeah ive got my fingers crossed for a home version, ps2 would be great.

there are quite a few moves that arent listed on the website which is cool.

my favourite characters are this guy, this guy and this guy.

the orc has a cool fb move where he rolls then slashes out of it depending on the button (mid slash pokes something like half a screen after he rolls and can be comboed. he has some nice comboes like a j.MS->s.MS->hcb+KICK->dp+S(juggle).

the big guy has a reversal which does big damage, a 360 throw sorta like astaroth where after spinning you and tossing you up he jumps up and slaps you down with his axe, a super 720 and an iori style throw that leaves you facing the wrong way for a split second.

the dwarf uses a musket, has a clip down the bottom on near his super bar which shows how many bullets he has in his gun (no bullets and he cant shoot). he has a throw sack of gunpowder aa style move (tosses it up at a high angle), a two foot slide kick move (comboes on light into a c.MS and covers most of the screen), a shoot move which can also be done in the air and a reload move (dd+any button, HS reloads more bullets than LS whereas K fakes).

mid boss is a manticore and the ai gets brutal about 5th battle.

apart from the graphics (which would have been so much better handdrawn imo) the game is great (fun).

Just got to watch the vid. for it on snk-capcom.com. Very cool stuff. The animation looked pretty good in the video, I just wish it had been direct feed. Here’s to hoping someone picks it up for a home release soon.

Nobody play that huge blue orc, that dude is mine!

So, questions about the vid. Looks like this game has a parry, is that true? Also, do you have to switch characters every round?

What’s the button set-up like? Etc etc.

Finally took the time to look shit up for the game…OMFG looks so hot.

yes… yes… looks good.

I was to say something like quite the opposite…

-A/B/C = weak/med/heavy slash. D is kick

-f+D or b+D for throw.

-safe fall is done by pressing any attack button just before you land.

-3 characters one dies next comes in opponent gets health boost ala kof (98,2k2 etc).

-deflect might be done ala parry though its not as effective it would seem (thank god) giving only a small window to retaliate in (its more like extended block stun, nothing like the version in samsho for example). i havent tried to really use it though, not sure of how to do it as the cab doesnt list how to do it nor does the official site.

-assist attacks are various combos of buttons to call your 2 off screen partners.

-use item is C+D some are attacks, some give health, there are invisibility cloaks, wands and heaps of other d&d type stuff.

Looks like a red earth type what are the VS battles like, fair?

I was just cleaning out folders on my HD awhile back and found some vids of this. Has anything transpired in the past year? Are there any cabinets of this still in JP, let alone the US?

Last thing I remember about this game before it disappeared into … well, nothingness, was the skeleton+horse dude having a pretty retarded infinite.

It’s true. Horses are the secret to true rushdown power. It’s like Magneto, but twice as good, since, you know. Twice as many legs.

This logically equates to twice as fast. Also. Hexi-jump? I think so.

I like the guy with the horse

Just thought about this game again because I’d come accross this channel:
http://www.youtube.com/sasakivritra
and also remembered that this came out in 2004, so is ‘Mamable’. It turns out that the system it runs on, the Taito TypeX, is just basicaly a WinXP running PC with a radeon gfx card… So how does the emulation thing work with this? Will mame not support it since they can’t write code for it, since it doesn’t need it… If someone just dumped the roms, could you play it on a XP PC?

Always surprised at the low level of exposure for this game in the west… Did it even get released to western arcades? Its basicaly Warcraft the VS fighter, it looked to me at the time as if it’d been made primarily for western audience…

I guess there are some special bios in the type-x which would have to be dumped.

Yeah, this game was so forgotten when it was released, even Japan doesnt give a shit about it… maybe it was that horse infinite because is by far the most stupid broke thing in a fighting game EVER.

And it also join the sad list of “games that will never get console ports” with names like Rumblefish 2 and Martial Masters.

Yeah, Martial Masters could have been PGM’s biggest ever game given the right exposure… Thier side scrolling games are are fairly popular in the west (as 2d side scrolling games go these days) purely on thier own merit. If PGM had a small ‘Capcom USA’ type presence in the west, with a little bit of an advretising budget, I recon they could’ve been a contender…

hahahaha, what a hilariously misleading title. I was looking at the screenshots and wondering why people were hyped about the graphics… I honestly thought it was a new game until I looked it up in youtube and saw videos from 4 years ago. (Im sure Im not the only one who has never heard of this game).
