Thats a good question and I’d like to know the answer to that too. And how is the parking situation there?
The area is actually not bad for food, its alot of those private owned food joints (indian/jamaican/philipino) and a couple of convinience stores to if you just want a quick snakc or so. I believe there was a popeyes areound that area to i havent drove there for a while now but alot of multicultural stuff goin on.
hey herb
put me down for basara x man
end of the week. This saturday!
UGH… look bro if you don’t know then please don’t inform the players with wrong information. The first post makes is very clear you can register right up to the time the tournament starts. Please get your facts straight and if you don’t know then ask.
I sense anger in this post =p
So forest, your going to have to take the greyhound. I’d do that in a heart beat. I’m taking me and my girl friend from EDMONTON to Toronto on the bus, you can do it to bro
UGH… Look “bro”. I’m not informing people of wrong info. Russell and I who have been in charge and ran every Tekken tourney for the last few years have decided due to the lack of interest for T5:DR, if we dont see enough entries by the end off the week we will not run the tourney. Now before you say “if you don’t run it someone else will”, let me tell you that no, no one else is willing to run the brackets and bring equipment to play the damn game. So as far as we are concerned this tourney will not happen unless we see a jump in players. If someone else is willing to step up to the plate and run and supply everything needed for this tourney then by all means go ahead. Till that happen please pre-reg by Saturday! It takes a lot of organizing, time and energy that we rather not do if only 10 people are confirmed to show.
Oh and next time make sure you read an entire post before acting like an ass!
You’re on.
I’m aware of who you and Russell are. As for the latter point, I think you mean “Russell wants to bail on it already and I suggested only yesterday (06/30) that we’d give it a week more.”
I never made any mention of other people stepping up. I do think it’s pretty close minded to believe that no one will bother to step up when you’ve only set your personally enforced deadline not even 24 hours ago and haven’t had time to even see how it’ll pan out before you’re already denouncing any possibilities.
As for pre-registration, the Tekken community has had some of the slowest pre-registration the last two years and in both years they held the distinction of being second most heavily entered game (only behind 3S both years). If that’s any indication, it looks like that scene has a strong walk up crowd and thus the pre-registration is not the strongest indicator of their participation. Chopping a week off the registration process (without actually talking to DarkDragon about it) when you’re both showing up regardless for VF5 (and in Russell’s case other games) makes no sense. If you were Smash players that played one game exclusively it’d be worth argueing. But you’re not… and this isn’t.
You really have no idea who you’re argueing with.
I suppose I might bus down to TO, but I am still undecided because of the fact that I do not know if I can find a cheap motel 6 and commute to York U. every day for the tourney, since I will be there on my OWN. I want to go to this tourney, but if I don’t get a ride and I take the bus instead, that means that I will have to bus while I an in TO as well. I also have no driver’s lisence, so renting a car is out.
If I pre register and later decide to back out and not to attnd after all, is that an option? Because I am still undecided on my attendance because of the hotel issue and the commuting to York U issue.
Does this mean I am off the hook for pre registration and I can show up regardless and the Tekken DR will be on regardless of the amount of pre registrees?
Dude, this isn’t being held at YorkU at all, not even close.
I’m going to pre register right now for everything except VF and Tekken but I dont know if im coming still. Still looking at arrangements.
It’s great that you know how to randomly check TC to see what’s going on lately, but the truth is tekken is dying for us. The last two years we never worried about attendance because we already knew who was coming. We had someone from Korea and people from the states that came to the event both years. Also there was an excitement for the tourney long before it would take place. But this year we have had most of the tekken community show no interest. Not only in the tourney but for the game itself. Russell and I have talked about this on more than one occasion outside of a forum.
If you knew how the TC community is you would know that it is close to impossible to get anybody to run a tourney let a lone supply the equipment for one other than Russell, myself and maybe a few other people. So regardless of what you may think, I’m telling you what I know to have been proven true in the past.
I never ruled out that there might be someone outside of TC to do everything that Russell and I have done in the past. But I do rule out the rest of the TC community. I welcome anybody here to take over. In fact I hope someone does because as of now I am not going to bother with it. I guess time will only tell if what I am saying correct or what you believe to be true is correct. In any event good luck to who ever decides to take over.
And No I don’t give a shit who I am arguing with.
Nagata, why do you dual account post anyway? I don’t remember if you mentioned why.
this is worse than the xvsf hype of previous years.
get hype! it’s t9 babee
I don’t even know anymore. I created Angelic Diablo when I wanted to retire a couple of years ago. Of course I’m a hopeless addict so I dual account.
I actually wanted to argue the point with Mista Tee under my Nagata account but by the time I posted I realized I was under my other account and just ran with it. I knew I’d get a more condesending response back if he thought Angelic Diablo was just some random idiot he’s never heard of instead of me and that’s way more fun to respond to.
Regardless if it was you or not I would have responded the same way. Fact is fact. what you know and what I know regarding the tekken community is vastly different.
Tekken sucks?
Nagata: We are not bailing out on organizing a tournament. I would gladly do it but with the attendance record we have so far, it just does not look good. I don’t want to organize a tournament that will consist of only 10 players. We already know that the attendance will be low because of the communities response so far. I agree that we got a couple of walk-overs last year but that’s because we called out players last minute to join to fill the brackets, also grabbing a few 2D players that somewhat played Tekken. Those pre-registrations from the past years also had atleast 20-30 people sign up. This time the number is just not good. I also don’t want to base a tournament on an assumption that people will just show up. It’s not proper tournament etiquette. I gave them a warning that i need a good number or else I will not do it. That’s when we gave an option that if somebody still wants to do it even though the number is small then go right ahead. To be honest, there is more interest in a TTT tournament. When Tekken 6 comes out on console on november, i’m pretty sure we will get a good number for T10. Please understand that the community is not as strong as before at the moment.
