T6: The Canadian Fighting Game Championships

i saw tao’s makoto, looked pretty weak …guess i saw the wrong match…jeez. jap sticks for the win.

Umm…it wasn’t Tao either.

There are more chinese dudes than Tao in Canada.

Honestly, it was just some random chinese guy. At least, he’s random to me. I don’t think he even knew who he beat. He was probably like “why is everyone cheering?”

Who are you BTW?

His name was Henry, IIRC.

I saw him on T5 weekend, racking up a 30 win streak with Makoto. I honestly think he had no idea of what was going on… probably didn’t even know about empire.

All of MTL has been eliminated in 3s, arcadekid prolly finish the highest as he just got peaced out by Jwong. There are 12 players left.

Vesna went 2 and out… wtf…

Is Tao still in there?

Go go Downtown!

Henry is notorious for having a “I don’t care about this game.” look on his face when playing. I pointed JustinW & crew out to him earlier and he knew who they were. He probably just didn’t care enough to turn it into a big thing.

Either way, way to go Henry

what about them in cvs2?keep us update.thanks

lol watson, ur posts were god tier.

none of the tournaments finished. So they are all going to continue.
Tao is in still in marvel losers. Not sure about 3s or cvs2

Canada defeats Empire in Tekken 5.
It’s 15-11 so far.

For the record, Justin lost to Henry (actually, I think his name might be Henry Cen) and then almost lost to Secret Weapon in losers.

I love you Watson.

Bye.

Highlights: The rules of the Tekken 5 match was not explained to the entire Empire team, which was the (EMPIRE’S) fault. Because the rules were told to both Triforce and Ricky and they did not relay them to the rest of the team, thus Ricky, Justin and Santhrax all picked Feng. Canada quickly adapted to the similar fighting styles of the three. For the Empire it all went down hill from there.

Yes, when I saw that some “random makoto” knocked jwong out, I knew it had to be Henry. Although my experience with 3s is limited ( less than 6 months ), I did get to play Henry a few times in downtown Toronto (at an arcade at dundas/yonge) and was solidly schooled in classic karakusa tactics. It’s true, he does look bored while he plays, but in my couple of spoken exchanges with him, he was very polite and friendly. He is rated by many of the best players in Toronto that I’ve met/played as one of the top – if not the top – makotos. This just goes to prove it too.

Well done Henry!

Canada takes T5!

Alright guys, I’m going to post the full results, as well as character usage here. First and foremost, though, I just want to say that the whole event was absolutely insane. For me, anyways, these have been some of the most intense matches of the tournament. I want to thank all the Empire players who came out and gave their best in this; shit was awesome.

Team Canada captain, AVEX lost a coin toss to Empire captain Ricky Ortiz, and Ricky opted to have Canadian players play iron man (5 straight games) in the round robin tournament.

Teams were as follows:

Team Canada

AVEX (Feng)
LD Dave (Steve)
Shyft (Wang)
Potatobrain (Yoshimitsu)
Trevor (Steve)

Empire Arcadia

Ricky Ortiz (Feng)
Sanford Kelly (Feng)
Justin Wong (Feng)
Naomi (Anna)
Uber Jae (Christie) / Blood Red (Lei) <— I’ll explain that in a minute.

The matches went as follows:

Shyft Iron Man

Lost 2/3 to Ricky
Lost 1/3 to Justin
Won 3/2 over Sanford
Won 3/0 over Naomi
Lost 2/1 to Uber Jae

Empire 3, Canada 2

Potatobrain Iron Man

Won 3/0 over Ricky
Lost 3/0 to Justin
Won 3/1 over Sanford
Won 3/1 over Naomi
Won 3/2 over Uber Jae

Canada 6, Empire 4

AVEX Iron Man

Won 3/2 over Ricky
Lost 3/0 to Justin
Lost 3/1 to Sanford
Won 3/1 over Naomi
Lost 3/2 to Uber Jae

Canada 8, Empire 7

LD Dave Iron Man

Lost 3/2 to Ricky
Lost 3/2 to Justin
Won 3/0 over Sanford
Won 3/0 over Naomi
Won 3/1 over Uber Jae

Canada 11, Empire 9

Trevor Iron Man

Won 3/0 over Ricky
Won 3/0 over Justin
Lost 3/2 to Sanford
Won 3/2 over Naomi
Won 3/1 over Blood Red

Canada 15, Empire 10

Right, so we won. The story behind Blood Red is that he was supposed to play, but was nowhere to be found when the tournament was started. After postponing his match for as long as possible, Uber Jae had to take his spot. He showed up way into the tournament, as Trevor was playing his Iron Man. He asked to play the final match he was supposed to have played, and since Canada had already won by that point in time, it was really a moot point anyways, so we let him play.

Uh, ok, I’m not really one to talk a lot of shit… but we fucking reamed you guys. Seriously, you guys tried to take us as a joke, picked third rate characters you barely know how to play, you fuckers slept on us, and we snuck our dark horse LD Dave in, and he ripped on you guys something savage. After the last 2 days results, I guess you guys didn’t really take us too seriously anymore, but we showed you what we were made of.

Haha, all told though, they were great matches. I wish the singles and team tournies had been able to go our way, but I think we really held it down where it counted.

THAT’S ONE FOR CANADA, BITCH!

(Cue’s “Oh, Canada”…)

Oh… I hear Marvel teams are up next…

LOL

and someone tell me if Tao is still representin’?

Way to go trevor, montreal is proud of you…

Good shit in T5, Canada. And this is after Hamstars bitching.

all we need is a repeat of CVS2… and a 3S take over… and it’s over… Empire can go home… and Canada can walk away in victory…

GO TEAM CANADA.
