Even after over a year of play, I still enjoy this game (can’t wait for the home port of 6br), and have it for psp. Is there anything besides the stages that are not in the psp version that make it worth a purchase for ps3? I have a standard def 32-inch tv, so I doubt the higher def would even be noticed (or would it?)…
I think a PS3 purchase is ideal if you really enjoy Tekken and would want to play it on a console instead of struggling with the shitty controls of the PSP. But the online isn’t that great even on great connections and on mine it’s practically unplayable most of the time.
I still play DR on PSP when I’m chilling in bed. Plus I use that to decide how to customise my characters on the PS3 version since it uses the arcade style of “you don’t see it until you play it”.
But on a slim the controls are just fine…
Ah that’s a tad different then. I still have the first model PSP.
Still, if you don’t mind the $10-15 for DR on your PS3 for a good 10 months then go for it. Especially if you know peeps that would play and you can invite them to play etc.
If not, see if you can ask someone you know who has it for their PS3 and if they’d be willing to give a share (if they have any spare) and let you download it to your PS3 through their account name.
I think the first model psp was very forgiving in terms of Tekken. Then again, might have been just my psp.
Nah, if you got a slim PSP, I’d say it’s a waste of money. Unless you really want to play it on arcade stick.
I would have to agree with Snowman, its definitely a worth while purchase If you enjoy it on the PSP. I struggled with the PSP pad for awhile before getting my PS3, it’s a worth while investment…though I’ll be honest…my PS3 has pretty much turned into a $400 dollar Tekken box.
Agreed. I have both but the PS3 version is where it’s at. Isn’t DRO like $15 on PSN?
It is cheaper without online, right? I hear the netcode sucks ass.
I think the PS3 version has some new customizable items that you can unlock. It also has that ghost mode. Not sure if that’s on the psp version, or if there is a mode similar to it.
If you buy just the base game, without the online mode, you don’t get the practice mode! which sucks.
thats crazy.
nothing else to add > >
If you have people to play with in person, then by all means buy the stand-alone offline version for $20. Easier multiplayer (no ad-hoc baloney), better controller/stick options, & more accurate graphics (I play on a SDTV too, & DR is noticeably sharper than PS2 T5).
If not, I’d save your $. The online expansion is still an extra $10, & the netcode is pretty bad imo. Also you can’t download custom Ghost player data, & it lacks all the extra junk (team battle, Tekken Bowling, CG endings for everyone except Lili, Drag, AK). Best thing out of the expansion is the training mode, which PSP has anyways.
EDIT: PS3 version also has a toned-down playable Jinpachi. df+2 godfist ftw
I bought this game as soon as I got my PS3 for X-mas. I downloaded the bundle and I say it is a great buy. I loved Tekken 5 on the PS2, and this is even better! It is great using an arcade stick to play this game than the PSP.
on the psp I glued little pieces of plastic on the inside of d pad and it is responsive as a DS3
