yeah it’s still way early and access to SSFIV was very limited. I don’t recall marn playing grapple characters so maybe he just didn’t have the mindset of one while he was playing. but seth saying t. hawk is too good already doesn’t really do much for me cause he also said in the early days of SFIV that el fuerte was a lot better than people think and he was good and we all know where he ended up.
I’ve never really played T.Hawk but from watching the last demo on the stream tonight I’m willing to bet that the EX move that looks like a horizontal condor dive will be a huge part of his game.
So T.Hawk so far is a Zangief without the BS, which is bad. The only thing he’s got over Zangief is the better throw range (which I hope Seth was kidding about when he said he would tone it down). He’s got a better focus. But between Zangief’s EX fist and Hawk’s air dive, Zangief takes it when moving in cause it’s much safer. Zangief also has better pokes.
But I’ll pick him up first when he comes out just because I owe him a try.
Also, in his current build, if you want to follow up the headbutt with the ex down dive, it takes another bar. So if you want to do ex headbutt into ex dive, that’s half bar. THAT IS HARD to do because unlike Zangief who can lariat to build meter, Hawk doesn’t have that.
i hear in t.hawk’s ending he sues the s.i.n. corp to get back his land.
is this true?
No, He goes back to skateboarding
Gotta love badly animated gifs.
I think the range of T.Hawks ultra was because Juri stretched out her leg so that he grabbed it. His ultra still seems to have better range than Zangiefs though.
Bad priority is very easy for Capcom to fix, though.
Hawk has a shorter jump.
But Condor Spire might be a good whiff move from the other side of the screen, or his 360 whiff might recover well. Or there might not be such a strict altitude requirement for Condor Dive so he can do it right off the ground(Cannon Strike) or right before landing(like air Tatsu).
Dive and Green Hand are completely different. Yeah, they both serve the purpose of getting in on fireballers. But one of them being initiated in the air and not needing EX to knockdown changes everything. Safety depends on the matchup. Blanka is able to punish Green Hand with ultra but it looks unlikely to do the same after blocking dive. It looks like Bison would be able to punish dive with ultra, but he can’t do that for Green Hand.
We don’t know how good any of Hawk’s pokes can be yet so we can’t compare to Gief.
If hawk Has a wake-up game that is even close to the on of gief, I’m maining him XD
i cant believe an ex dive doesn’t break armor…they had better fix that
I guess the only way to do an EX dive is after the EX uppercut, so It could be seen as a unique attack?
The guy (Sanford?) playing did the regular dive, so ex dive might be possible. Thinking the chain would be ex dive -> ex spire -> ex hawk.
the already showed the chain… it goes ex spire> ex hawk > ex dive, so i think that the ex dive may only be situational.
I’d say it’s pretty hard to fix something that doesn’t exist in SF.
I’m not talking about the starting point of the chain. In the vid, you see two chains:
- spire -> hawk -> dive
- hawk -> dive.
If there’s a way to do ex dive in the air, then I think the last chain would be dive -> spire -> hawk or maybe just dive -> hawk.
Hawk looks tight, his EX grab must have some type of property cause it does so little damage. Otherwise I like the range on his ultra, looks like a little more than jab spd o.O
Did it? I haven’t watched the video to confirm but I thought the ex grab did more than his regular grab.
I don’t know about the regular grab, but that EX grab was at like Seth EX SPD level, so it better have some awesome properties.
When you guys saw the video of his Super, did you think it was much cooler than his Ultra? I know I did. Heck, even my 12 year old sister prefers the Super. Well a petition has been started to get Capcom to switch the Super with the Ultra. It just started today and we’ve already got about 150 signatures.
So if you’d rather see T. Hawk’s awesome Face-Bounce instead of the Sit, then head over here.
