…Anyway, I’m surprised that no one seems to have posted the Direct Feed Walkthrough in this thread despite the fact that it confirms at least two things for T. Hawk:
[]Hawk Dive (Aerial PPP) is his Armor Breaker.
[]Condor Spire (RDP + P) will be able to crossover at least some crouching characters.
The second thing seems like it should be especially important.
FUUUCK, a blocked Hawk Dive was punished by reversal Sobat Kicks! That means it’s guaranteed punishable by reversal Scissors and Horizontal Ball, maybe even by Abel’s and Vega’s Ultras :wasted: (though I don’t know why you’d use Hawk Dive against any of those characters). However, it does look like T. Hawk bounces too far away to be punished by a reversal DP and that’s what really matters (though I bet Tiger Knee and Hurricane Kick would connect). Bleh. This is not good.
On the bright side though, it’s starting to look like Condor Spire is (relatively) safe on block :wgrin:. At one point, the T. Hawk player threw out a cr. jab after a blocked Condor Spire and he got CHed by Deejay’s Sobat Kicks, so obviously that means you’re at enough of an advantage to throw out a DP. Looks like we have a mix up tool.
Damn, you appear to be correct. Even worse is that it looked like it might have been able to be punished by a Light Sobat Kick when it got blocked again; that Light Sobat Kick was not a reversal.
Balancing with good news again, it looks like Hawk Dive cleanly beats out Dee Jay’s upkicks (whatever his anti-air kicks are called). It’s difficult to tell considering it only happened once, which means that it may be a fluke. However, here’s hoping that Hawk Dive actually has some priority (for once?).
Beyond that, I was trying to see how quickly Condor Spire left the ground and to see if it consistently went over low attacks. However, that video didn’t provided any evidence that I could readily see…
It should go over lows considering the horrible attack from SFA3 that it’s replacing. I hope it go over all lows, though.
glares at Chun-Li
That said, I actually wouldn’t have minded if they kept the SFA3 attack but upped the damage and then gave it a bit more distance. However, that may be just because it’s an overhead.
Well if SSFIV keeps the voice options of SFIV, then you can option select who you want in English and Japanese, don’t see why you people have to get used to it when you can just change it.
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it go straight over crouching characters, so unless something weird is going on, it should go over lows. Don’t worry about Chun Li’s sweep, even if it is a sweep with a freakishly high hitbox, it doesn’t come out fast enough to beat stuff like that reliably (assuming Condor spire has a decent chunk of active frames.)
Actually, thinking about that, do we think Condor spire is going to have enough active frames to work like cannon Drill/Tiger Knee/Slide in that it will be safe(ish) if spaced correctly/perfectly?
That’s not really a serious problem; EX Condor Spire is fast on start up, has great horizontal range and it puts your opponent in a juggle state/knocks down. If it goes through fireballs like Zangief’s EX Green Hand, then it’ll be a great tool.
Don’t forget that Zangief’s normal Green Hand is unsafe on hit, while T. Hawk’s Condor Spire is potentially safe on block (from what I can tell from in-game footage anyway, I could be wrong). We might even have it better than Gief in the end.
Im really hoping hawk doesnt suck its just im so use to him gettin the shaft that I expect no logic or reasoning/thinking being put into his move properties (ie dive not knocking down in hdr)
Ok I am really hyped for T hawk , I will just use his japanese voice but to my question.
Remember when S-kill talked about the move that you use with T hawk to get up close , that trick with the backwards SRK motion I was wondering how the range of the move workes , I am guessing that you use the light one to get in when you are pretty close and the mid one when you are not that close but what about the heavy one i was hoping it goes as far has maybe Hondast light headbutt or Barlogs light dash punch please share your opinion on this move and how you want it to work
In early builds of HDR, T. Hawk’s dive knocked down and was safe on block. According to Sirlin’s blog, this made him too easy, so they removed it. I guess Capcom feels they got Hawk Dive right in vanilla ST :looney:.
T.hawk should have both versions of the dive in reality. One that knocks down but is unsafe and one that doesnt knock down but is safe. But thats another discussion that I’ve gone through ad nauseum with way too many retards who dont even play hawk so we wont go there.
Cant wait for super though. I dont even enjoy playing regular 4 knowing that I’m going to be playing hawk soon enough
Yeah I’m the same way. Been playing Cammy, hoping her playstyle is similar to Juri’s.
Also trying to learn Zangief because I reeeeeeaaaaallllly want to be good with T.Hawk and that seems to be the closest in playstyle. I seriously can’t wait to actually play the real characters though. Feel like I’m going crazy waiting for the game!:looney:
I’d say Hawk is closer to Honda than Gief. Especially now with that Condor spire. He’s prolly gonna be better than Honda even, unless he has terrible combo options which could very well happen. S-Kill said Hawk is all about setting up that 360 and he certainly will have an easier time getting in that Gief. So the more I think about it, the more it sounds like Hawk won’t have any combos outside of jump-ins, jabs and counter hits.
I want to do a “triangle combo” with THawk, meaning hit you with all three Condor attacks. First the horizontal, then EX uppercut cancelled into the dive.
In fact, that should be his 2nd Ultra, call it the Great Condor Storm or something like that.
