KojiKOG takes on Tokido

Am I the only one who’s really not that impressed by KOG/MaMo’s gameplay. I understand these are high level players, but a lot of the damage they took could’ve easily been avoided. Very little of it is pure yomi, it’s more like controlled randomness. Seriously KOG mashed out an ultra after 3 chain jabs lol. Not to mention a ton of really badly placed tomahawk busters. Cost him a full round.
Honestly, the reasons he won against akuma was because Tokido sucked it hardcore. He let KOG neutral jump SPD in a non-wakeup situation and somehow got hit by back to back unsafe splashes.
If you really want to get nit-picky, against akuma, KOG threw out some really really really badly placed s. :hk: which tokido on reaction did cr. :hk: for the hard knockdown.
Ma-Mo made his sakura comebacks on a few lucky mashes. Watch his inputs. He was also chasing people down on a life-lead. There’s absolutely no reason you should be jumping at sakura on a life-lead.
In the Ibuki matchup he landed a few mashed DP’s and Ultra.
@Joe_Lewis I can’t be the only one who see’s this…
I’m in the same boat as you are. Even though these guys are very skilled T.Hawk players, winning matches on the basis that somebody falls for gimmicks and/or doesn’t know the matchup sends a bad message. It’s basically saying, " You should depend on gimmicks and the opponents lack of matchup knowledge to win. " It’s just a bad way to inform people about matchups and teaches them bad habits. Good players will almost never fall for gimmicks and predictable bad habits. They force you to play solid and smart.
Also, KOG really needs to stop mashing so much. I really respect the guy for being loyal to Hawk and repping him, but one of these days a smart player will pick up on his bad mashing habits, keep baiting him out on it, and eat him alive o_O
I don’t think his mashing is that bad though. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a bad habit and he paid for it on a couple of occasions in that match. But it could be a whole lot worse.
this game is mash friendly, everyone mashs in this game, even daigo tokido and all the pros, i dont think mash is a bad thing
I agree that mashing in itself isn’t bad, but when you do it TOO much, that’s when it’s bad.

I believe this is the first video of my T. Hawk to get online. Not my best stuff, I started to lose my cool near the end of the first round, but I was able to collect myself and stay relaxed for the rest. Even after I get hit by the same move three times in a row in the final round. :oops:

Definitely should have used my ultra little sooner, too. That could have been bad.
