Haha guys, this thread has made my day. Had me laughing out loud literally. Keep em stories coming. IĀ“m not a Hawk player but i feel your pain.
Just had Ryunichan deny me from winning against him a second set. There was no lag.
Heās the #4 ranked Yang player -_-. FML.
And I beat chris huās oni today. yay for good note.
Further gripes. Once you hit A rank, it takes so damned long to get points, good lordā¦
I had a long set with a strong Ken player last weekend, and I got mad salty. I swear, if Hawkās cl.MP was a command normal (like, say, back-MP) Iād shut down that stupid crossup tatsu bullshit so fast. All of Hawkās anti-air options are top to forward instead of forward up, so I find the timing is so hard to get right (both thrust peak and cr.HP). And dp works half the time, but I find depending on the crossup, it can go the wrong way more often than not, or worse just get knocked out of dp. Even when Ken jumps at me with tatsu, dp seems to trade half the time.
My other major issue was chip damage. When both hawk and the ken are basically one hit from death, ken basically wins. He can dp any dive or spire, especially if he controls the distance, and hawkās dp is so useless heās almost free to jump in too. I just could not find a way to get chip damage safely. But if I turtle, ken has so many safe chip options I get screwed.
I did find that neutral jump MK is actually not too bad. Comes out fast, stays out pretty good, covers the area in front of him rather well. Might have to work with that a bit more.
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH VEGA ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH
1 hit away from beating my 1st blanka.
I see the ultra flash for u2 so I go for ex spire on reaction.
Sadly he did random vertical u2 and I eat shit.
Which is really sad bc he was super bad at blanka.
sigh back to the lab
At this point in time, if I meet someone who mains Blanka in person I might immediately strangle them. Because I havenāt ever fought a good one, they all generally seem to rely on gimmicks and bullshit to win, they donāt seem like theyāre good people since 29/30 of them like to taunt and mock their opponents, and having one less Blanka to deal with in the world seems like the ends justify the means. Iām absolutely tired of losing to them, which in turn sets into motion the chain of events of me being in a bad mood, which means I lost more matches due to lack of focus which puts me in a worse mood, and by the end of it Iāve lost 500 PP again. If anyone would care to join me in unifying a rally of Mass Blanka Genocide then please let your voice be heard.
I just lose 1000 PP because I played about 4 blankas, 2 goukens, 2 sagats, a dhalsim, and kenā¦ FML
If all you fight is terrible Blankaās then you shouldnāt lose to them. The match is only unwinnable for hawk when the Blanka understands it, believe it or not. If the blanka is bad then all you have to do is capitalize on a handful of mistakes and let hawkās damage output take care of the rest.
The problem should only exist if youāre A: a beginner T-hawk who canāt deal with random hori ball, or B: youāre playing a good blanka.
Doesnāt take much to understand upball beats out just about everything you can do. That being said I see where youāre coming from, Iāve beat a few Blankas, hell ever a good one or two who didnāt know the matchup all that well. If they donāt know about upball being Hawkās kryptonite the match isnāt that horrible. Itās still an uphill battle though, and still frustrating. I was pretty mad when I typed that out, hence frustration thread.
Things to understand when youāre #1 in leaderboards.
1.) It takes around straight 10 wins to gain 100BP (since you rarely go against a 7000BP + opponent)
2.) If you lose to anyone under 10,000BP, you lose 45pts and 115PP. Those 10 wins or more to complete waste.
3.) People will recognize you and counter-pick you. A lot. People kick you from lobbies. A lot.
4.) Rage-mail. People hate losing against T. Hawk. Mad salt.
Today was one of the worst days for me. I played against at least 15 Dee Jay players, but this one Dee Jay was being a total ass. He turtled on me like crazy and did that stupid pointing and laughing taunt everytime I ate a fireball or got stuffed out of Condor Dive and such. I couldnāt help but get really aggravated and so I was being really careless. When it got to the last round I was supposed to win but he raged quit and then he sent me a MSG saying, " this matchup is 9 - 1 in hawks favor your a pussy for using him against me " and then I sent him a MSG back (He had the word " Cheese " in his GamerTag) saying, " I guess you donāt like Toe Cheese then. I like to pick it from my own toes and spread it on crackers and eat it. Wanna have a sample of mines? Iāll let you have a lick of my toes for free ". I donāt know what the hell I was thinkingā¦lol o_O
lol, deejay is a more annoying version of guile, this matchup is really ridiculous, i miss ST when dj wasnt that hard
theres thing that dont make sense at this game, like the fucking slide beating everything that hawk can do, or his jumping fierce, so lame
day by day im hating sf4 even more.
Deejay is probably the 4th worst matchup.
(my list recap: 1.) Blanka 2.) Gouken 3.) Guile 4.) Deejay 5.) Juri )
The only reason he wins is due to the slide. His EX-upkicks can be safe jumped.
His slide needs to act more like bisonās. Slower startup, lower hitbox, and unsafe on block (kinda like blankas slide). Itās bullshit that it acts as an anti-air.
Do tell. I always get hit by it.

^Good stuff, gotten too used to just using the body press.
I donāt really have any problems against blankaās I mean you just gotta be real patient and rely on condor spire and make sure to really know itās safeā¦
You know what I realized just now? That when I see people post about Hawk and I watch videos of his play it makes me excited about Street Fighter.
I really do like this damn broken in a bad way character.
