I’m going to build a hit box that resembles a piano and was thinking of what to use. I was originally going to use the switches off the buttons but then I saw the ones around the stick (v-01-305-a) and thought they might work better. I don’t have much knowledge of electronics but I enjoy building things. Is there any real difference in performance?
Links or pictures may help. For help with this kind of project it helps to visualize.
Lucky I have a idea what you are talking about.

This is the Sanwa 68 microswitch for there push buttons
Other style of buttons uses a different model of switch but they look the same
I am assuming you mean the microswitches from a Sanwa JLF joystick.
This is your omron microswitch out of the Sanwa JLF
Which is the same kind of switch as
https://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/89-thickbox_default/75-gram-cherry-microswitch.jpg
Cherry brand switches often used in Happ and IL Joysticks and Push Buttons
There also the Cherry MX switches used for keyboards

So you want to make a Hit Box that looks like this

Picture electronic piano
Sounds like quite the project.
Thanks a lot for the info.
I wonder if you can just get a broken electronic keyboard and wire it up as a proof of concept
Maybe make a hybrid Hitbox/Piano keyboard set up/
I wouldn’t go straight for the final project in one shot, I make a prototype first.
Learn off your mistakes and successes and then if you feel confidant go for your final build or improve your prototype.
Keep in mind this might be the best way to go development wise but it cost more.
