There are a few significant Islamic dates around the time Aisha was born that rule out the possibility that she was any younger than 14 when she was married to Mohammed. Considering the legal age in the UK is 16, and the relative life expectancy and age of mental and physical maturity back in those days, that’s not all that young at all.

Hence there is not the least doubt that Aisha was at least nine or ten years of age at the time of betrothal, and fourteen or fifteen years at the time of marriage.?

You see, most of the people who conclude Aisha was 6 at the time are only going by documentation specifically referring to her age, which is of course subject to hundreds of years of mistranslation, misinterpretation, outright misdocumentation etc, whereas my sources actually include evidence from well documented historical dates.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I do not mean to attack Muhammad as a way of attacking Muslims or saying that they are all pedophiles. I’m mostly just interested in this for fun and curiosity. Being raised Christian, I’ve not studied Islam, and it interests me. Couple my interest with a dislike of religion in general, and you get me digging up dirt on prophets and their deities. But don’t get me wrong, Jesus said some wise things, and I’m sure I’ll learn that Muhammad did as well. And I’m sure I’ll read just as much to make me hate Yahweh 2.0 as I did with the beta release.
