SWEEEEEEET. Andrea was awesome. I just hope that they keep an open mind with asking a lot of RI cast members back. RI sucked but it has some great potential returning players in Mike/Starita/Francesca. Andrea is a solid choice from that season though, even if she did fall prey to the “I think I’m in the F3 with Rob” trap that everyone else fell into
Yeah, I agree. I was always a fan of Andrea (and the Zapatera 6 for that matter since they took out Russell and his little harem), and it didn’t hurt she’s pretty hot. It would kind of be funny to have Matt, Erik R, and Brandon on one tribe though. It’ll probably have some people who were blindsided (with and without Idols), jumped when they shouldn’t have, got cocky, etc. Though gotta admit I wouldn’t be surprised if Cochran got a spot Kenny would normally get, which would kind of suck. The Survivor boards are gonna be filled to hell with cast speculation between now and the end of February. Hell, they already are, lol. Also apparently someone flat out asked Probst about a “Back to Basics” season, and he responded saying “you’d be bored” which well, A. would be the producers faults for putting so many twists in and B. mean he doesn’t trust their own casting abilities.

-Angie: If Billy is being considered, Angie’s chances are good. She’s a great and really memorable early boot who was popular with hardcore fans, casuals, and the producers.
-Francesca: Probst said that she was out way too early and he’d love to have her back.
-Corinne: Was supposed to be on HvV, but she couldn’t do it because of work. She had already given up one job because of Gabon and couldn’t get the time off again/would have to quit a second job for Survivor.
-Kenny or Cochran: Cochran being the more obvious choice, but Kenny would probably make it if Cochran couldn’t.
-Sherea or Aaron: Everyone pretty much agreed that the China twist sucked and these two were the victims. One will probably get a shot.
-Russell S. or Mike: Mike being the more obvious choice, with Russell being the alternate in case Mike couldn’t make it.
-Christine or Stacey: Rumored to have been considered.
-Jim, Marty, or David: All fit the same archetype, with Jim being the most popular.
-Ace: Popular and memorable early boot.
-Ian: Memorable for his quit but the producers don’t consider it a quit.
-Erik R. or Brandon: Both memorable for giving up immunity. Brandon would probably get the slot first.
-Natalie: Was actually flown out to HvV before being cut in favor of Danielle.
-Shane: Was considered for HvV but was cut for Russell.
-Brenda: Popular, memorable for not scrambling.
-Peih-Gee: Popular, memorable.
-John K: Decently popular, screwed by the Fat Five.
-Laura: Memorable villain.
-Holly: Popular.
-Dawn: Popular.
-Michelle: Screwed by the crappy sub-tribe Fiji twist + popular.
-Mikey B: Rumored to have been considered.
-Matt: Very popular with casuals.
-Sierra: Popular with casuals.
-Shambo: Popular with casuals.
Yeah, it’s a long list, but those are the names that I’d look out for the most in terms of possible returning players. I didn’t include players who have already returned or anyone who has been at the FTC because I’d like to hope that they wouldn’t be cast on a season like this. The only one who possibly deserves a spot that has already returned is Tyson, just to redeem himself for his HvV performance.
As for a back to basics season…I actually agree that it would be boring. You have to remember exactly what this would entail: 16 Survivors, no swaps, no double TCs, no idols, no random out-there twists like visiting the other tribe for a day or whatever. I know people hate idols, but they actually aren’t inherently bad: at their roots, they give losing tribes a chance to save themselves and can prevent Pagongings from happening. It’s just that Samoa & HvV went WAY overboard with idols. But actually, Nicaragua/RI/SP have been good seasons in terms of idols almost saving people but not being an overbearing factor. So yeah, I think that a 100% twist-free season wouldn’t be that interesting. Twists were introduced to prevent each season from being a basic Pagonging.

[details=Spoiler] Actually the person asked that the only twist BE a swap. And just because a tribe is down in numbers doesn’t mean they’re gonna get Pagonged. I mean, the first season that comes to mind is Tocantins. Yes there were Idols but they had ZERO impact on anything, the season had no swap, and the tribe that went into the F9 down 3-6, wound up having all 3 of them in the Final 4 through nothing but their own good gameplay. And plus, there have been plenty of times where the winner has come from the minority tribe at merge, and plenty of them did NOT involve the HII. Like, you have people like Vecepia, Jenna (technically), Chris, Danni off the top of my head as non-Idol ones and the Marquesas overthrow is considered timeless and a turning point in the series in terms of strategy. That and some of their biggest characters ever came from seasons that were pretty standard, like Boston Rob, Colby, Hatch, Jerri, Ethan, Tom W, Stephenie, Sue H, Kathy V. And if you add it to include “no HIIs” and stuff, you get people like Jenna M, Rob C, Ami, Twila, Sandra, and Rupert. That’s a pretty impressive list.
Also, personally I figure they could just have Kenny on over Ace if it came down to it, making it so they could have both

The most popular to Probst of the Jim/Marty/David trio seems to be Marty as like when Tyson and Coach were on Tocantins he said he’d love to do another All-Stars to see them play again, Probst said something similar about Marty and Brenda. I REALLY would cross out Sherea, Aaron, and especially John K, lol. As well as Francesca.
The thing about PG is that I think she currently lives out of the country or something and can’t come back or whatever, but I could be wrong. Fun fact about Kenny is that he was essentially the “Natalie B” on the male side of I’d imagine the Villains tribe. No idea who the two for the Heroes were though. While I despise Corinne for being a super fake fame-whore, I guess we might have to put up with her. Shane probably won’t be back after his anti-CBS tirade and Laura (who I LAUGH at the thought of actually being ‘the villain’ when she was actually good compared to Shamu and Russhole) apparently accused CBS of some stuff and tried to sue post-Samoa. Also, apparently CBS has tried to get Mike Skupin for every single All-Star type season that’s come up and have been turned down every time. They tried with All-Stars, with FvF, and with HvV from what I’ve heard. But yeah, spec’s gonna be pretty decent, I think. And I’m pretty sure we’ll be doubting/re-confirming/re-doubting stuff all next season too. [/details]

Those are the ones that really make me question the legitimacy of the list. There are some that I could really see happening, though. I’d say that the hardcore Survivor-obsessed people should probably be closely following these 40 (as in following their Twitters/Facebooks/etc) through March to see if they leave or are obviously using a stand-in to post for them. I’m not going to do it because that’s a bit creepy but whatevz.

Well, there are some cases where there’s no reason why 2 couldn’t be asked back, like say Ashley and Andrea, Kenny and Cochran, or Jason and Erik R. There’s no way they’re getting Greg or Colleen back ever again though. Probst LOATHES Greg since he treated Borneo like a joke (he would jump out of the bushes and scare camera men, voted for Probst at every TC he went to, etc), and Colleen has said since like 2003 that she’s completely done with Survivor.
Just focused on making a balanced season and getting a balanced amount of reps from seasons, a lot of players seem like alternates.
Kenny/Cochran are the same archetype and basically played the same game. Casting both would be really redundant. Jason/Erik R. are both fans who screwed up badly and are dorky; again, casting both is redundant. With Andrea/Ashley, there’s simply no need to cast two late-game players from RI. Ashley was only relevant in the last few episodes anyway, and most casual fans would barely remember her since she was such a non-presence overall in the season. And Gervase is just so…obscure. Like, getting a Borneo rep is fine, but he’s just really not that memorable.
If that list of 40 were real, I’d say that the cast would look something like:

Yeah, I know what you mean. Plus,the guy who posted it was trying to get people to think he was SurvivorsUnite, just without the 2nd ‘s’, lol. I just figured it should be posted since it’s relevant even if it’s most likely bullshit. But that being said, a tribe consisting of Lex, Russell, Brandon, Penner (who I hope is back anyway regardless), Tyson, Shamu, Naonka, Ashley, Christine, Shii Ann would be insane.

Yul is okay, but his win is kind of tainted by
his completely broken idol that coasted him through a lot of the game and gave him a ton of power
, but he’s still a decent winner.
Yul was the fucking man! That was one of my favorite seasons.
Both Yul and Ozzy deserved to win Cook Island. It did come down to 5-4 right? Or something close like that.
Yeah, it was 5-4-0. Granted, half of Ozzy’s votes were from people who’d never met him, but still.
That’s honestly part of why I didn’t like CI, the twists made it really wonky (starting the jury pre-merge is stupid and that idol was overpowered as all hell) and the race thing felt like a huge ratings gimmick. It wasn’t a terrible season, but it’s a really awkward one.
To be fair, that Idol was good up until the same point that Terry’s was the season before. Don’t get me wrong though, I don’t really hate any season, it’s just that Exile Island, Cook Islands, and Fiji were all total bleh periods. Like seasons 12-14 were letdowns after seasons 9,10,11 (Vanuatu, Palau, Guatemala) and were nowhere near as good as 15, 17 (China and Gabon), and depending on how you feel about it, 16 (Micronesia: Fans vs Favourites).
