I wanna see how they stupidly came up with te tuna
I would imagine Coach said it meant “Warriors of the Sun” or “People of the Wind” or something in some ancient language.
“
For a time, the goddess Hina lived as the wife of Te Tuna, the god of eels. But she grew tired of him and decided to seek love elsewhere. Telling Tuna that she was going to get him some delicious food, Hina left him and went onto land.
Hina went from place to place, seeking a lover. But all the men she met were afraid to take Tuna’s wife, fearing the eel-god’s vengeance. Finally she met Maui, whose mother Taranga urged him to take the goddess as his wife.
When the people round about learned that Maui had taken Hina as his wife, they went to tell Tuna. At first, Tuna didn’t care, but the people annoyed him about it so much that he eventually vowed to win back his wife from Maui.
Along with four companions, Tuna rushed toward Maui’s home, carried by a huge wave. But Maui’s power turned back the wave and left Tuna and his companions beached on the reefs. Maui killed three of Tuna’s companions, while one escaped with a broken leg. Tuna himself Maui spared.
Tuna actually lived in peace in Maui’s home for some time. But one day, Tuna challenged Maui to a duel. Each would take a turn leaping into the others’ body and trying to kill him. If Tuna killed Maui, then Tuna would take his wife back. Tuna’s turn came first: he made himself small and entered Maui’s body. When he came back out, Maui was intact. Now it was Maui’s turn: Maui made himself small and entered Tuna’s body, tearing it apart. Maui cut off Tuna’s head and, at his mother’s suggestion, buried it in a corner of his house.
In time, a shoot sprouted from Tuna’s buried head and grew into a coconut tree. That was how humankind acquired coconuts.[4]”
Holy shit, I thought you just made that up.
Wow.
A pretty good pre-merge turned into a pretty boring post-merge thats now turning into a pretty unpredictable final episode. All the remaining cast have glaring weaknesses and have to rely on who is sitting next to them more than ever.
Coach- People think he has a strong chance, and he did play a decent game but he really fucked himself by getting rid of Cochran Edna and Brandon. Now he has this trend of getting rid of the people who were super loyal to him, which counters his whole philosophy. Personally I think the jury will also see right through his nerfed Boston Rob tactics.
Albert- They did the typical “throw the black man under the bus” routine the last episode, but his early concern of Savaii jury votes could pay off if he makes it to the end especially if he sells himself on sucking coach’s dick the least out of the remaining Upolu. If Ozzy is in the final three, he has no chance though.
Sophie - She was Albert’s less vocal pallet swap up until two episodes ago. In the game she still may come off as a blind Coach follower and as a viewer I hate her sense of entitlement, but she understands good timing and probably has a strong final argument up her sleeve (probably the person you want in the finals the least).
Rick- He’s done the typical “survivor fan who is on the island watching the game instead of playing the game”, probably has the least chance of winning, but Fabio pretty much won the game a couple seasons ago doing the same “shut the fuck up and play stupid” strategy.
**Ozzy- **If he makes it to the finals he got all of Savaii votes on lock, a Sophie/Albert or Coach/Sophie combination will pretty much guarantee a win because they would split Upolu votes. The biggest problem he will face is how can he do an appropriate character/strategy assassination if he hasn’t been in the game for half the season?
**Brandon- **although a strategic fail, he has kept it real which does go a long way for the traditionally salty as fuck jury members.
but yeah, personally im rooting for Albert or Ozzy.
That episode was amazing and strangely enough, Brandon didn’t cry. Personally, I’m rooting for Sophie the most, and have since episode 1. Following that, Albert, then Rick (just because it would be hilarious). I don’t want Coach to win really since he’s been shown as a hypocritical Jesus freak (though amusingly enough the 2 things seem to always go together) and I REALLY don’t want Ozzy to win because in no way can I ever support the thought of somebody who’s been voted out TWICE in a game where the objective is to NOT get voted out on the way to the end, winning.
I have a feeling Brandon beats Ozzy, I don’t know how my prediction of Coach Brandon Sophie will happen now.
I really want Brandon to win, hopefully he beats Ozzy…Would like to see the confrontation between Coach & Brandon…I think what Brandon did gave him the best chance to win the $100,000 popular votes…Not only that, if does beat Ozzy & somehow get to the final he should have a better chance now against Coach…
Throughout the season i thought it was going to be Coach, Edna, & Cockran…Dont know why Coach decided to do it this way…This would have been his best chance to win it…I think that ugly chick has the best chance now because of all the recent betrayals Coach did…
Kinda weird on Coach/Edna/Cochran prediction. For the past…dunno 5 or 6 episodes, I’ve had the gut feeling the end might be Sophie/Albert/Coach, but I could always be wrong.
I must be the only one pulling for Ozzy then. I mean, the guy has yet to win Survivor. Isn’t the guy more than deserving?
I dunno, out of those left, I really feel the only one who really deserves to win is maybe Brandon, but that’s more or less based on the fact that he gave up his necklace, but also if he beats Ozzy on redemption island. That’s the only way I see someone else winning.
The only reason I watched this season was that I heard Ozzy was back and skipped to the latest episode, I hope he pulls it out, he’s such a powerful competitor and deserves the win.
Ozzy is so fucking godlike in challenges, but I also think he is one of the dumbest dudes on this planet. When he talks it looks like his head is about to explode because he can’t form words.
As someone who really dislike Brandon early on I’m kind of pulling for that dude.
Yeah, sure he can do well in challenges, but the guy’s as dumb as a bag of rocks. I mean, he choked his first time and would’ve been voted out if he didn’t go on a giant Immunity run. The second time he was so arrogant that he went around saying he had the HII and not only got voted out without using it, but he never ONCE brought the HII to ANY of the Tribal Councils he went to because “I’m a good competitor, they won’t vote me out”. This season he VOLUNTEERED to get voted out in a move that if it didn’t work would’ve been in contention for dumbest move of the season (second only to what Brandon did). Besides, I’ve always felt that challenges have little to do with how deserving someone is of a win or how good someone is at Survivor. Okay, Immunity stops you from being voted out (or in this case RI stops you from going) but…if you don’t form any bonds, then you won’t be getting votes.
And besides…does anybody here think Matt would’ve been deserving of winning last season?
Welp I’m done with this show
That was awesome, well done, Sophie. She totally deserved that.
Something just felt unsettling about the end. Unless they edited it wrong I really don’t see how Sophie is more deserving than Albert, but whatevs. The reunion was also a rare miss. At least Rick’s super saltiness was straight LOL, dude didnt want to vote for anyone.
I was really hoping for an “Anybody But Sophie” end, but I guess in the end she pulled through.
Also, Coach is a fucking pussy that flip-flops as he sees fit.
My overall “How much I like them” tier list for the season:
Top:
Jim – One of my favorite Survivor players ever. A great and entertaining strategist all around…Hopefully he’ll be back for All-Stars.
Stacey – Blam! She was hilarious and I wish she had lasted longer.
Dawn – Another “sweet lady” archetype that I fell in love with. She just seemed so…genuine.
Christine – So close to being the returnee. =\ Still, she was sassy and entertaining and I loved her.
Sophie – I didn’t think much of her for a while, then she became an awesome strategic force filled with sass. I was so meh on her, but then she became this awesome, cold, calculating, game machine like 3 episodes from the end and I loved her. Better late than ever.
High:
Ozzy – I hated him at first because I thought he was the same douche from before, but he definitely proved me wrong and was much more likable this time around.
Papa Bear – Seemed like a nice guy, but he was doomed from the start because of his age. Shame.
Rick – Hilarious…….when he spoke. Which was never.
Edna – Loved her at first, forgot about her in the middle, and loved her again at the end.
Mid:
Keith – Hot, but boring.
Elyse – Fun player, but tremendously underedited and ultimately forgettable.
Whitney – Awesome for the little bit that she actually spoke. But that wasn’t very often. She was like a less hilarious version of Rick.
Low:
Mikayla – So much potential, but she truly sucked at the game. Like, one of the worst players ever. She was clearly on the outside of the alliance but never did anything about it…and deserved her boot. I liked her until her boot, then I realized that she was downright worthless. Oh well.
Albert – Liked at first, but he became pretty lame by the end.
Semhar – Boring, forgettable, and completely deserved her own boot. Whatever.
Bottom:
Brandon – Absolutely insane. I have no idea what his problem is, but he’s definitely psychotic.
Cochran – Such a weasel. Seeing him get what was coming to him was amazing.
Coach – Cannot stand him at all. One of my least favorite players ever.
I’m totally excited for next season, since the twist sounds awesome, and the season after that has already been spoiled kind of.
Spoiler
It’s a second chance season! I hope Angie makes it back. Oh, and Sarita. And Ace. And Misty. And Stacey. And Christine. And a lot of others.
That’d be cool if the S25 twist was true but, well…that’s kind of been speculated for YEARS in the community.
Well, the person who said it was the person who spoiled next season’s twist (accurately, I might add) about the one world thing, and also apparently spoiled this season’s boot order (I never look at boot spoilers so I can’t verify this). He also said that the S25 twist was initially going to be for 24 but they backed out at the last minute; he even had a bit of info on what was planned for it.
