Watched the pilot myself. It wasn’t bad. The chick flick stuff gets downplayed quickly and the mood of the show takes a shift once she adapts the costume. I enjoyed it enough to give a second episode a watch.
According to this show Superman has been active for over a decade. At this point Jimmy should be all knowing. He’s been with Superman long enough to act as a mentor. I’m just mad the show is using Toyman to fill Jimmy’s traditional role.
It’s gonna suck for Superman to be a character we won’t fully see or interact with Kara. His overprotective nature over her is one of the things I like about their relationship.
I thought the pilot was ok. Chick flick stuff disappears once Kara decides to be a hero, the story moves in a fast pace and it does a decent job in establishing Kara and her cast. Even though the chick stuff is downplayed it still does all it can to appeal to the female audience it wants to attract. Kara made me facepalm hard when she argued with Cat over the name Supergirl. The action was disjointed and the cliffhanger at the end didn’t have the punch such a reveal should have. It was good enough for me to check out a second episode.
My own personal headcanon is that superman sent her to be raised by his time displaced self from another universe, just to explain why her dad is Lois and Clark Superman.
Finished the pilot. Feels like they tried to cram in bits of character development that could have been better served if they were spaced out in the series. I wonder if they’ll rewrite these for the actual series (as some series are wont to do) instead of just sticking with the pilot as the first episode(s) of the show.
Costume needs some more work. The S feels just wrong without the yellow in between the red bits. Also, not digging the cape she gets in the end. Wish they didn’t add the leggings, seeing Melissa Benoist’s creamy white thighs gave me a fizzy feeling down below (but then again, I got that white fever bad).
Obviously a fake family set up to make her grow up in the most ideal circumstances. I mean, weirder things have happened in the comics.
It was an ok pilot. I’m not a huge Superman guy, never really cared for the mythos. But it was better than what I expected so I guess that counts a little bit. I’ll watch the 2nd episode whenever it airs, but most likely I’ll probably ignore it. Melissa Benoist is super fucking cute, and plays the role well. Fun fact, she had leaked photos during the fappening.
