I would just like to say dj is the mostest handsome man I have ever ever seen. He is also a beast. I think he is better than daigo. I printed his elephant thong pic in hopes of it being a scratch and sniff. I also have it as my desktop pic.
papasi please refrain from lifting false accusations of my hero or I will ban you from supercade.
So I’ve got a weird problem with Supercade. It’s all installed, and I can log in, but for some reason I can’t find the damdai file in my hard drive to put roms in.
You don’t have to find the damdai file to put roms in, that’s all. Just launch a game and the client itself will ask you where it must search the rom on your computer. So basically, all you have to do is to previously make your own rom folder anywhere (while desktop is easiest choice i think) with the correct rom files in it (check in the client the “xxx.zip” name of the rom, google it, dl it).
Good stuff papasi. I’ll definitely have to try that out myself.
On a related note, there’s been discussion on the FBA forums about an incompatibility between FBA and the Win7 Desktop Windows Manager service that appears to be the root cause of a lot of frame skip issues. I think delatroy originally brought this up in another thread a few months back when the problem was first discovered:
In December one of the developers mentioned that a new rev with the fix was just around the corner. Not sure what the status of it is at this point, but it would be nice to have this fix integrated with Supercade in the future.
And I just wanted to give props to damdai for sticking with this project for so long and working constantly on improving it. A couple years ago when I first tried out 2DF, I wondered why someone would bother devoting time and resources to developing something like this when GGPO already existed and had such a large user base. In retrospect it definitely makes sense with GGPO progress stagnating.
I’ve made 3 different combinations of the exception. Still get the same message.
I brought it up last year. It was fairly obvious that Win7 2d performance was totally different. Once 2d drivers finally got better, it still was the same. Looked at FBA forums, and found out it was FBA. The lack of Vsync with triple buffering really makes GGPO unbearable. Even then, the possible micro stutter would still ruin it. A configured Mame feels exactly like XP, and just a cleaner experience.
I think with the same two players, GGPO runs a bit better when it’s a connection between high pings, basically the same if its a low pings one. Other than that I prefer Supercade, it’s smoother since GGPO sounds a bit too laggy compared to the past
you know you done fuxed up when marsgatti has to check you, hes a pretty genuine guy overall.
i’m gonna give supercade a shot simply because the input lag is way too noticeable for me on ggpo to ever play there (windows XP with 2gb of ram and i dont even use my computer for anything other than web, excel and microsoft word lol). it’s worse than classic/HDR on my 32 inch TV.
I actually liked Supercade a little better than GGPO since it seemed to run much smoother for me on my setup. The only problem was aside from like 2 other people nobody was there lol If more people come over to supercade I’ll be there too. Also GGPO is Spamerffic and that gets annoying.
Supercade is great if you wanna play HF, which everyone here should In all seriousness, I like what damdai has done with it so far.
I haven’t even tried ST on there yet, so I can’t comment on it in particular. I’d probably still play ST on GGPO unless it’s against someone who lives near/in the midwest. I will say after playing ST on an actual arcade board a couple times recently, it’s hard even to compromise playing online now. Online just destroys real footsie games where offline you can actually punish missed pokes on reaction (for instance, punishing ryu’s cr forward whiff with a fierce rekka combo feels awesome). Anyway, getting off topic
Punishing a wiffed cr.rh is pretty easy on GGPO or Supercade too I guess. A lot of people complain about online tactics via XBL/PSN, such as empty jumping to a crouching attack to exploit the input lag for guarding direction… that really doesn’t happen on GGPO. Though it did on Kaillera and that was the most irritating shit ever lol.
getting an error logging into supercade for the first time. just installed it with the net4 framework and rebooted pc. then went to the supercade forum and no answer was given.
It’s asking me for email address and password. I did that and still error.
You can still log in and play on GGPO with ports blocked, you just won’t be able to connect to everyone.
The difference is GGPO won’t tell you if the port is blocked or not.
Also if both player’s ports aren’t blocked, they still might not be able to connect to each other.
