Special Thanks to Rufus, Papasi and Kuroppi!

Thanks a lot for stepping up to do this. One question…what happens if/when Evo staff throws us out in favor of something else in the ballroom? This happened last year to clear the room for the Bang The Machine screening and it was not fun moving my equipment into the hallway to finish up the tournament. Any contingencies in place for this?

I can bring a supergun (output to either composite or component video) and one ST board, US version. Is the game version is big deal here? The only game play differences I’m aware of are Zangief jumping headbutt instant dizzy (GMC board only) and a shifted speed setting, the latter which can be accounted for. I have two Laugh converters so we’re good here as well.

The time DGV chose should be fairly safe. Nothing special should happen at the BYOC area. (on the down side, I’m concerned whether all the multi-game top players / international guests will be there by then, hopefully yes)

However, we can always give EVO staff a headsup just in case if they have something planned in friday late afternoon.

I know that you brought your cab/supergun to EVO multiple times, do you recall how many TV are provided @ BYOC in the past? Were there a lot of people fighting for those TV for casuals?

Good shit guys !!!:tup: Glad to see my poll wasn’t made for nothing and ended up giving some results !

DGV: any word on if the CigarBob setup will be at Evo? I’m assuming Kuroppi still has it, right?

I only brought my cab in last year and since it was a full cab setup, I completely circumvented any issues with reserving a TV. Considering the official Evo lineup this year, I wouldn’t count on many CRTs to be provided by staff (unless someone knows better than me? I wouldn’t doubt it) but who knows. Still, I would advise to plan on bringing your own stuff with you if possible, which I guess DGV is doing, so that’s good. I don’t have much I can provide if a CRT is required.

At the moment, I’m not certain if I’ll be able to make it to EVO. However, if so, I will definitely plan on bringing the cabinet and we’ll update the information to reflect that. :karate:

Sick. I’m still jealous that you got that rig and I didn’t. Hopefully we’ll get some games on it at Evo. Hope to see you there.

I’ll be there for the “Get kicked out of the ballroom” tourney.

3/5 a typo or is that legit for the whole tourney up to finals?

GGPO Pre-EVO 2011 Super Turbo

This is the real one:

http://challonge.com/superbattleggpoxtournament

grog, i dont think its a typo. st is a fast game. i think 3/5 would ensure that good players wont get random out by average player like me…

will/sesho, please leave it like that and don’t shit on this thread. we’ll go play at both. thx

Hell yes!

Hahahaha -The Bastard- probably said to himself ahhhh shit.
Sesho your silly post won’t change anything you are Forever Banned for trolling and using Turbo on GGPO. No CHEATERS in the tournaments. The Bastard if you troll on this thread another time I will have you ban for the second time, your Sesshomaru account already got banned. I SUGGEST YOU STAY QUIET.

For all the other real ST players you guys are welcome to enter the tournament to prepare or help others prepare for the EVO ST tournament

Peace out

Like I said in the other thread, If I’m going, I’ll be willing to stream, I might even have access to a beefy computer at the event.

Grog: It’s not a typo, 3/5 games:cool:

Bernie: Thanks for offering to help out…it’s much appreciated. I’ll update the original thread to reflect your supergun and 2 Laugh converters. Regarding the US ST board, if you dont’ mind bringing it, we can utilize it as a backup. We’d like to standardize the tourney with the same speed. I’m not sure if Speed 2 on the US board is “exactly” the same as Speed 3 on GMC board (can anyone confirm this?)

The decision to go with early Friday morning/afternoon was to ensure that the tournament would go as planned with no INTERRUPTIONS. Since most people attending Evo will be arriving on Thursday/early Friday for SSF4 pools, we figured Friday afternoon would be an optimal time. Opting for Saturday would mean competing with numerous other side games/pool play, which means fighting for floor space. Plus, early start time means that we don’t have to deal with the evening special events. And for those that care…Daigo is usually always there on Friday afternoon…

Willdestroya/Sesho: I appreciate the enthusiasm and exposure for the tourney, but can you guys take the GGPO fighting elsewhere. I’m all for using GGPO/Supercade/XBL to prep for the tourney, but can we keep the in-fighting away from the thread. Thx

My bro and I are working on acquiring more equipment (tvs, etcs) for the tourney…we’ll update the first post continually.

First of all I’d like to thank you and Papasi for making this possible, I can give you guys a hand to run the brackets that day. Don’t worry i’m not replying to his stupidity, I just don’t want him troll this thread has he usually do in the ggpo chat.

You are more than welcome to play in saturday’s tournament

They are the same (ok there are 1~4 frames (1/60 seconds) differences for the whole 99 seconds in game counter)

Check out sorwah’s research here

He compares JP T3 / US T2 for all 16 stages

So the only difference is gief headbutt instant dizzy

Good to know…thx Pap…I’ll update the thread.

Bernie: US ST board is good to go!

Ok thanks, just wanted it out there so no one tries to go back mid tourney “When did it become 3/5?!?”, thanks guys and looking forward to playing you. DGV that Ryu is mine, Sim’s going to show you the longest yard.

I want to say that last year’s ST tournament was also 3/5 (Ghaleon would know, he ran it), but it was also single elimination. ST probably should be 3/5 anyway due to the speed of matches and, at least for this tournament, how much the entry fee is. Also, it feeds rights into the new (and improved IMO) pay structure. Top 8 talent should be some serious business in large tournaments and not determined by anything random if at all possible. One of the best ways I know how to aid that is to establish longer match sets.

All things considered, I’m definitely looking forward to this event. DGV, I would consider promoting the pay structure and entry fees as much as possible if you aren’t already. Lots of people out there that think they know how to play this game and will likely enter if they think they are getting some money back.
