Super Turbo revival in Southern California at Super Arcade

I’m willing to help get it made if we get some donations together to help pay for the printing for the poster board. I think name plates with velcro tape or maybe even magnets so the names are interchangeable would do the trick. We had one of these at my old arcade and it was always cool to see your name or tag up there. Any ideas you guy or gals have let me know and I’ll look into it.

That or a white board w/markers.

white board and markers, i’m down, tell me how much to put in.

That would work too  But I may still look into a white board with come custom art for a more polished look =P

That is actually something Eddy brought up his first night at WNF. It’s a good idea, but we have to make sure people won’t come up and randomly change things. Maybe we can do a nicely designed poster instead of a white board?

I don’t think it’ll be much of a problem, I doubt anyone in the ST crew would just change the rankings for the hell of it.

But to prevent that, I’ll just take a picture of the board every week to make sure that no one tampers with it. It would be pretty sweet to have a customized white board.

If we did this what should the text on it be? I’m looking at custom White boards right now =D

Also what graphics do you guys prefer?

Give me some thoughts and I’ll see what I can come up with

hey guys, some of you seen me goofin off in GGPO; been meaning to show up to one of these things–i have class wednesday night unfortunately, but i think ill come down saturday to see who can serve my ass in some ST— just let me know what time!!

Yeah, Inland Center Mall and Roger’s house was our main training grounds and those are the guys. They tried to make a small comeback when SF4 came out. We were all at EVO a couple of years back. They might want to get back into the scene maybe if they knew about the ST revival. “Aric” is actually his name. People always make the mistake of spelling it “Eric” just like on the board. He only lived a subdivision away from me when we used to live in San Bernardino.

My nickname is Eddy. I have a brother named Tony that also played SF2. Yeah! I went to Lazar Blast, but iirc, that place closed down early like after the WW days. Oh snap! Is this Squiggy? There were 2 good brothers from back in the days that I remember from Lazar Blast whose names were Squiggy and Chan. They went MIA after WW though, and I never saw them around after WW. I remembered we played a tourney back then on WW and Squiggy won 1st, Justin winning 2nd, and me winning 3rd. Squiggy won with Zangief using the tick 360 grabs over and over again. If you got caught once, you were dead lol. Squiggy and I used to tag-team, switching off each round at World’s Finest.

Yeah, Watson was 2nd best in those days. Watching Tomo and Watson battle was epic. Some of the matches came down to the wire. As for Charles, he did some funky things back then lol. I have a story about Charles during an snes tournament I won, but I’ll hold off on that story for another day.

I was going to work on a board for WNF. I previously asked MuffinMan for the WNF rankings from this season. A board like that is good. It might motivate players to come more regularly, and it would be great to see your name on a board in a picture many years from now. The way it would work is that you would be placed higher the more you attended and of course how well you did. I was going to have my brother Tony work out a system like that since he’s a math genius. I think you would be the best person to construct the board since you are good with tools and construction and I know it would turn out legit.

Thanks MuffinMan! I’ll try to use N.Sim, but I know I won’t be any good with him anytime soon. I don’t practice ST much outside the tourneys. I do plan on getting on GGPO and buying a stick.

See everyone tonight!

OHSHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT HOLY SHIT HAHAHAHAHA

Yo man you beat me to it. Youre thinking of squeeky ( like a mouse ) not squiggy lol. yea I knew squeeky and chan. they lived right across the street fromlazar blast in that apartment complex. holy shit man. Im the mexican kid that used to slick his hair back. i used to play with all them crips ( ice man and mondo aka gorilla titys lol ) I used to kick it with
bugs and that short black guy that was a cross handed player that drove an escort and was studying to be a paralegal. what about willy the arcade operater lol. that dude was sporting long hair b4 every other black dude started sporting long hair lol.

You remember kaos lol. always asking for rounds and had no money lol. I hope this isnt you cause that would be awkward lol.

yo who are you ? who did youplay and what you look like. I remeber 2 mexican dudes that were always together. oneplayed gief (the older guy ) and the younger played shotos. Or the long haired indian dude that kicked it with that tall skinny black dude in the gold color car.

yo hit me on msn or aim so we can chat.all my services are djfrijoles.

I love it when ST brings back reunions from childhood. Brings a tear to my eye.

Just another reason why we should pay a coyote and get frijoles up here for some games.

I’ll be there tonight can’t wait for OG ST story time
Oh and djfrijoles I grew up and played SFII in the IE I wonder if we ever meet?
P.S. I didn’t rage quit on you the other night but I did break my stick mid match and couldn’t continue so it was more of a rage hulk smash then quit (you owe me a stick) =P

I rarely go on Saturdays, but I’ll be there tonight and Sunday, if you want to come then. Saturday night gets a few people, but unless we gather up some people for casuals or a small tournament, only a few regulars show up to play ST. John, an ice-blue Blanka player, is there every Saturday night past 9pm, so you can get some games in with him.

Or play Watson if he’s not too busy.

dont you make sticks lol ?

I played at Tyler mall castlepark pharoes lost kingom inland center mall movie thearters laundry mats circle k’s 7-11s korean vhs video rental stores camelot an arcade in redlands an arcade in yucaipa an arcade in santa ana ontario mills ( this one sucked ) fiesta village bowling alleys and a pizza parlor up the hill on kendall dr.

good chance we might have met.

I make em and I smash em it’s called product testing
Riverside Plaza, Tyler mall, Castlepark, 7-11s and Camelot where my local spots and of course the pizza parlors and liquor stores in the area as well. I was the tall white guy that played Guile and had a Guile haircut  Damn small world, SF was every where in those days. Why did you get deported again?

Lol Voltech! I remember you from back in the days! One time Roger drove me to somewhere in Riverside, Tyler mall iirc, and we say a tall guy with a Guile haircut. I remember I was playing Sagat that day.

djfrijoles, I’ve only been to Lazar Blast a couple of times since it was all the way on the other side of town, and I was too young to drive back then. I’m the Filipino guy that pwn’d everyone at Inland Center mall on SF and Samurai Showdown 2. I played pretty much everyone in Street Fighter at one point or another, but I probably played Ryu the most. At Inland Center, there was a Mexican Street Fighter crew with 4 guys, 1 who had slicked back hair, I forget his name. One of the guys was named Eduardo, because we hung out quite a bit and with my other friend Daniel, who worked at Inland Center’s arcade. Those guys were really cool and we hung out a few times, one time we all went clubbing.

I played at most of those places that you guys mentioned. To those reading this, LA players were better than us because they had much more players in those days and better arcades like Super Arcade, Pac-man, etc. You could kind of compare it to Japan to US, but IE did have players like us that loved the game and we had each other to play, just like Japan is better than us, but we still love the game regardless. djfrijoles, you are missing out on the ST revival here in SoCal right now. I know you would have liked it. Why are you in Mexico? lol.

Here is a picture of DJFRIJOLES, right before he left.

Hopefully a tournament tonight wnf is kind of a rough day to expect to get a good practice session in

I just wanna say this thread really gives me hope that we haven’t completely abandoned our history and we are trying to keep it going. Much love to all the Super Turbo players that continue to play this wonderful game. Super Turbo represents the best and summarizes what made this community.
