TO’s often DON’T get a cut anyway. They do it for the scene and the players, ESPECIALLY when the TO isn’t incurring any costs to run the thing. And Gamescape ARE doing plenty of work: sacrificing money (setups and time) and providing a large space for us to play in. Honestly, it doesn’t sound like they’re giving you the shaft at all…it seems like they just wanted a larger fee because we’re taking up a good amount of their resources, and it’s completely understandable. The $2 venue fee was incredibly low.
which i do understand and the money isn’t that big of a deal anyway considering im not living off of400 bucks a month anymore and ill just start winning money off of the pot =P. I guess it was just the way they went about it, had they just told me straight up and not went a beat around the bush kind of way, i wouldn’t be irritated about it. The important thing is we have a consistent venue to keep a scene going for tournies which is good, and ultimately all i care about. Still would rather get a barfights going, putting beer and fighting games together is like heaven for me.
In all honesty, you shouldn’t even bother with MK (Sad Face). We had 5 people show, one guy drove all the way from crestview to play and was kind of bummed at the turnout… If BB would bring in 6 or more people you’re already ahead. You might want to include Smash as well since last time there was about 7 or 8 people…
It makes sense that they charge a 5$ entry fee, we’re using their equipment, their electricity, and occupying space from normal customers that would pay full price. Not to mention they have to put up with all of us. Drew, if you want some help running things I don’t mind doing what I can. As long as you run the Smaller games (ST, BB,SSBB) during the larger ones (AE, MVC) everything should go smoothly. Have one person run the little tourneys and one run the larger one. My only criticism with the tourney’s I have seen up here is some people complain about who they get stuck with first or second round(Myself included, Thanks again Logan). Whoever is running the show needs to tell people to deal with it. I know the event coordinators do their best, but at times it’s impossible to split everyone up.The last Smash Tourney blew my mind with the amount of complaining before the games even started… The same goes for Street Fighter as well (Don’t want to single out just Smash).

5 is plenty of people. Round robin pools are the junk. Shit, with more setups, you Marvel boys could have done pools rather than brackets, cus tbh, folks need more incentive to play rather than just for the “competitive spirit” and more match play can do that. 10 bucks for a couple of matches is a complete waste.
In other news, might pop in tonight to show off these hot E. Ryu combos and get some 1v1s with folks with my Akuma. Making it a personal mission. Blow up every Akuma who I play, so gonna take some time to learn this overpowered fucker.
