Hey Everybody,

Like the thread title says, Bill put in the order and just got the confirmation from Capcom today that the update will be arriving in 2 months! The arrival is set for Mid-to-Late March, and will be at Acme Bowl in Southcenter, WA, right between the South End and the North End next to the Southcenter Mall, ideally making it accessible to a maximum number of players.

Perhaps just as importantly, Bill has also asked that we as a community collaborate and come up with a consensus on the type of controls, button layout, stick height and all the other specifications to make the cab precisely how we would like for an amazing Street Fighter setup! Once we decide, he will put in an order for parts, and his company will modify the cab a week before the update arrives to make sure it is perfect for the launch day. :tup::party:

Community Collaboration Schedule:

So to help make sure everyone gets to voice their opinion and we get the best cab possible, I divided the decision making process into three stages so that everyone can participate over the next few weeks and we can come to a community decision. I will be creating a separate thread for each one as we get to it, so people will have clear references to look back to. The three stages are:

First Stage- Brainstorming: Tuesday to Thursday (01/11 - 01/20)
This thread will host a brainstorming session where people can post up their ideas about what they would like to see and what they feel is important in having the best cabinet for the NW. The one rule of brainstorming and for this thread is: No Criticism. Just ideas. As many of them as you can give with no limits. If you have ideas beyond the controls and the cab itself, you are free and encouraged to post them here.

Second Stage- Ranking of Ideas: Friday to Tuesday (01/21 - 01/25)
After going over everyone’s ideas, we will create a giant list and people will select their top eight choices, ranking them from 1-8 in matter of importance. The top 3 choices of everyone’s list will state their preference for control layout, button/stick type, and orientation on the cabinet to make sure we get everyone’s opinion on those topics.

Third Stage- Combining and Refining Ideas: Wednesday to Saturday (01/26 - 02/05)
Once everyone has listed there top 8 ideas and criteria, we will combine them together and count the number of times each comes up to get an idea of what is important to the community. Out of the list, we will start to combine similar ideas and refine vague ideas to reduce the number of suggestions, and come up with a final selection of the most important requirements to send to Bill.

List sent to Bill - Sunday (February 6th)
The parts list and control layout will be sent to Bill for ordering so he can have them shipped on time his techs can begin planning to modify the cab. Submitting at this time will also allow for Bill to give us feedback on our suggestions.

Threads will be closed on there listed deadlines, and we will move onto the next section. If we stay to long on one subject or go back and open them up again, we will not get anywhere. So be sure to participate in each section during the time it’s open and get your opinion stated. :tup:

The most important rule throughout this entire process is:

Everyone is allowed to participate and voice their opinion at all stages of the discussion. Whether you live in Washington or Oregon, just joined SRK or are a long time veteran, everyone is free and encouraged to participate as much as possible throughout the process. In the last stage, the design specs and ideas that gets decided on will be reviewed and will need to be supported by the community, so no matter who you are or what your opinion, feel free to state it; but please, stay on topic, and stay constructive.

The Cabinet:

The cabinet that will be modified is the double-cabinet currently at Acme Bowl, in Tukwila, WA. It is a dual cabinet, with two seperate screen and control panels placed side by side, linked together for competitive play. The modifications will be for both cabinets to ensure that each side is identical to the other. You can view a picture of it by clicking below, or visiting Acme Bowl to see it yourself.

Also if there is wondering about stick layout etc. Since I’ve seen a mass majority of the community navigate towards the TE’s and the Vewlix (front 6) layout, perhaps that might be the best option?

I have never seen the cab so all my suggestions are blind at this moment.

Let me just preface this by saying thank you Bill! Holy shit. This is bomb. Also, I honestly liked the same setup you had at Narrows but that I wish the buttons were closer to the stick and that’s it.

And whatever gate there was on the old SFIV cabinet. Was that square gate? I can’t really remember but it was fine to me.

I think any pseudo TE style setup will get massacred and we’ll be calling Masterman Vending every two to three hours. We are in America after all. Imagine how many randoms are gonna be playing on this cabinet also.

When I say TE style, I mean just look at the way everything is set as far as measurements go.

Either that or the layout of the HRAP 1 (back 6) but thats me being greedy since thats the setup I play on haha

Well this is good news! As far as layout goes, American or Japanese is fine by me but don’t make it angled sideways. I played on this one gross CvS1 machine that had angled controls, and it just confused me.

I should’ve clarified what I meant, like, a pure Japanese setup, I think would get destroyed.

Not to take the topic off of AE, but can we make suggestions as to other fighting games that could be placed at Acme? Like ones that we’ve seen at other locations like Narrows (such as MvC2 or 3rd Strike)?? It would be dope to see Marvel there while we wait for AE! Woo woo woo!

The spacing on the buttons and sticks should be aligned with the new standard. Ball or bat top I don’t care.

Vewlix six button layout, with the start button well away from the controls, and clean sanwas or Happ is fine. But the attack buttons are way too far from the stick, if they were closer it’d be fine.

How much closer do you want it? Like… right now they’re an inch, maybe 1.75" away.

Yeah the “old” lay out would have been fine had they put the the stick and buttons closer together. I had to bend down and arch my back at the same time to play on that. Hella awkward positioning. Not trying to work my lower abs during a match.

I suggest Happ/Industria Lorenzo Competition sticks with Happ competition buttons. Arched buttons (jap layout) would be cool. IMO dust and dead skin cells collect easier on japanese parts. Happ parts can tough it out longer in shitty environments.

If its gonna be jap parts, it is crucial it be to specs, like the madcatz TE stick. Same spacing. It is much easier to play on a messed up layout with american parts than Japanese. If the japanese components are not layed out perfectly, consider it garbage and unusable.

I don’t care how much it will cost to play but the only thing I want, layout-wise, is a damn BAT TOP on that controller. Ball tops are so WAKA FLOCKA UGLY!

I’m being serious about the bat top guys.

Brent, I love the way the editing is done for this thread. You all are going to have a much better idea of whats going on than I would, so I will post some blind ideas here.

As far as buttons and stick placement go, IMO they need to be the vewlix style. Its whats in right now, and its whats on all of the majority arcade sticks that people use.

That also goes for stick placement and height. For me, bat top or ball top doesn’t matter to me, I can use both. (If they made bubbletop battops…oh big business!)

As far as the wiring and everything of the cabs, make it as easy as possible, especially for buttons and what not. If you have seen the VLX Premium and how it opens and everything, make the cabs like that, use QD’s and wiring harnesses and make it easily accessible. Another option is to pick up a couple of these from LL

And then maybe keep two on hand that are only used for tournaments. That would be pretty beast IMO

The Cab itself.
So you ALL knew I was going to bring this up, but if there was a port or something that made it easy to hook up a stream machine, please do. It’ll make things a hell of a lot easier, and I can stream off anything really. HDMI, DVI or VGA as long as theres an additional sound port.
