Super Street Fighter II - Console Speed Setting

Okay, so I’m going to start out by explaining why I’m doing this. I work at a game development studio. Some of the employees and myself collect older games/systems and occasionally bring games in to play on really long days, or when we get together to plays stuff in the office, or just for office parties. In addition to the games we have to play here, we bring old consoles. I am a huge fan of the Sega Genesis and have put a lot of effort into sharing my love for the system with my co-workers, and they have introduced me to some interesting games as well on other systems. Recently, I have been putting together a collection of games that I take to these types of gatherings and have tossed some fighting games in there. Generally I just take the Genesis version of Street Fighter II Special Championship Edition, which we all love to play. (I freaking love hyper fighting.) Recently I’ve wanted to bring in some Super Street Fighter II, but am reluctant because it is slow as hell which might turn off some players. (myself included) I was thinking that if we just play it with speed settings turned up we would be fine. We’d get the speed, and the extra characters and have a good ol’ time, but the game has 4 speed settings. Does anyone here know what the default speed setting was for the competitive scene when the game was popular? it’s got to be 3 or 4 (there’s 4 settings, 1 and 2 are champ edition slow, but none of them feel like ST)

IIRC, arcade SSF2 speed is the same as CE and it is the only speed setting available.

He is referring to SNES SSF and what was the competitive setting. IDK in the US but here in my country te 10 or so that played, used only ONE star.
