EDDIE LEE!!!

Other tournament highlights, and an important announcement (long!):

Maryland came down to represent, including David ā€œSparatikā€ Fennell, Pete, Eric Lee and Isaac. All of these guys are pretty good, Isaac is beastly in MvC2.

I beat Eric Lee in ST by a kind of fluke; I mess around first game and lose, then we go back and forth til its 2-1 Eric. He thinks he’s won, but he forgot to read the rules that its best of 5, not 3. Then I proceed to beat him 2 straight :frowning: Sorry Eric, you’re pretty good but you got beaten by the rules haha.

Infinite wins the Triple Threat MvC2 grudge match between himself, DSP and Shawn Morgan. He beat me 5-3 and Shawn 5-3 I believe. Both Shawn and I had some issues dashing and superjumping on the cabinet, but to be honest I’m used to it on the Break’s frankenstein-like MvC2 marquee. Shawn didn’t take losing his $25 too well though, and left immediately after the match.

Oh, and Shawn and I played just for the hell of it to see if one of us could beat the other 5 straight for $15. Didn’t happen.

MvC2 team tournament:

  1. Empire team (Justin/Desmond/Matrix)
  2. Team Hungry/Serious? (Josh Wigfall/Sanford/Eddie Lee)
  3. Team OneHitKillas (Infinite/Isaac (yes from MD), Brandon ā€œDemon Hyoā€ from Philly)
  4. Team DSP (DSP, Mike ā€œPungzaā€ Pungsajarit, and Germaine from Philly)

Funny story, I had planned on entering the team tournament myself; that is, pay for three entries and have an entire team composed of me. After losing the triple threat (which I still have issues with) I wanted to prove myself in something. But Phi didn’t allow it to ā€œprevent drama and controversy.ā€ I guess it makes sense but come on now, you KNOW when you mention the name DSP, you’re talking about drama and controversy in some form.

So anyway, the makeshift team of me, Pungza and Germaine was formed. Maybe the real name of the team should have been ā€œteam leftoversā€ because we all needed teammates and were free agents. But it turned out pretty fucking well.

Germaine beat a considerable amount of players. I ran through Josh Wong’s team (Josh/Pete/Eric Lee) all by myself. Then PUNGZA RUNS THROUGH TEAM PHILLY (Rick Mears/Spory/Julian Robison) all by HIMself in an amazing upset victory.

On top of all this, I went on to OCV Josh Wigfall in another upset, but then both Mike and I lost to Sanford in good games.

I’d just like to say that this was one of the best tournies I’ve been to in a while, beating the past few Break tournies and CTF events. Lots of fun, lots of people you don’t see everyday (namely MD), and lots of comp, upsets, and entertaining matches.

Two things have come out of all this. I have come to two decisions that are of a lot of importance to the MvC2 community. One I will announce now, another later.

The first: I challenge Josh Wigfall to a grudge match. First to 10 wins for $50, just like the one with Infinite a month ago. I have lost to this guy in countless tournaments BY PIXELS OF HEALTH or by stupid flukes of missed moves, and I’ve had my fill. I proved to myself that I can beat this guy tonight, and rather than hear people say ā€œit was only one game, it doesn’t mean anything,ā€ I’d rather challenge Josh to a set to prove that I’m good enough, and not just a fluke.

I mean no disrespect to Josh. He knows that I respect him as a player and I recognize his skill. But Josh was on Team EC last year at Evolution, ranked in the top five on this coast. I’ve never done well in tournaments in 2 out of 3, but I believe that I can beat ANYONE in a set if I want it enough, and I work hard enough to overcome the odds. Hell, I LIKE it when the odds are stacked in my favor. So, I’m challenging Josh to play me for money so that 1. I know he’ll be there and accept, and 2. I can prove to myself and to everyone else, once and for all, that I’m good enough to be considered a ā€œtop player.ā€ Even if I don’t win, I hope to put up enough of a fight to prove myself to you guys.

After all, it’s all about going up on the big screen and representing your entire coast at the biggest event of the year. If I have to go through every top player on the East Coast to prove that I’m good enough to be up there, then so be it. I’m sick of people standing in my way, and naysaying. So if you’re in the way, you’d better step up to the challenge or step OUT of the way, before you get stomped on.

The second announcement will come soon.

Sounds like it was fun.

If anybody recorded some footage, I’d be more than happy to throw it up on video-mirror for you, just let me know.

How can you hate a guy like this? Lone Rebel until they die. That wasn’t a sarcastic remark either. I am actually giving him a compliment. Until then.

Who won CVS2?

Sorry that i couldn’t make it to this tourney, i had the worst hangover after partying too hard the night before. Congrats to the top finishers.
