Bring the Beat Back is actually what I originally came to this thread to comment on. When I first heard that “Bring the Beat Back!”, and that weird buzzing sound rhythm playing with it, I immediately thought 3s music!
I loved it. Though I personally won’t mind too much to see IT go. My only problem is that, if THAT song goes, the character select theme might go with it, since it is essentially a remix of INDESTRUCTIBLE.
lots of people in this thread need to stop pretending they know anything about mixing and electronic music production lol. the themes have all been mixed fine. some of them are just cheesy as fuck. that’s all. we have to just live with it because they are going to be just as bad in super.
weirdly enough, i think all the new characters have tracks that are the exceptions to the rule. these are very well done. viper/abel/fuerte/rufus all have character defining themes… it’s the majority of the old cast’s themes that sound crappy. bison’s theme is fucking awful. so are guile/zangief/ken/ryu’s themes. where the fuck is honda’s theme? blanka’s theme? dhalsim’s theme? those one’s were the shit. i guess they will redo those themes for super, seeing as it looks like we are getting character specific themes like old school.
i didn’t play much third strike, but they nailed it with SOME of the music in that game. problem is, if they go in the “original theme/backgrounds” direction, everyone starts to bitch about “where is character x’s stage/theme”…so i guess the developers can’t win on that front. instead, they could focus on making the music sound professional. i’m just sure they won’t improve on the sf4 themes, which is a shame.
Dude rap samples jazz all the fucking time you sound pretty uneducated on rap music in general .I advise you to go the rap thread right now in general discussion and find SrkKev or Koop.
SF3 songs fit the games setting and concept it was the changing of the guard for sf3 same way hip hop over took jazz but kept some pieces of the genre like how sf3 keep ryu , ken , and chun li. As thugs slash protectors of their small town Yun and Yang music was reminscent of the old hong kong action flicks. Urien’s crazy erratic personality was reflected through his music. Ken’s smooth style and personality was reflected by the use of saxophones in his theme. Sean’s rough and tumble hodge podge fighting style is reflects it in his fighting style. So if you get down to the characters the soundtrack complements them perfectly.
I’m afraid SSF4 music will be as bland and uninspired as SF4 music is. I don’t know how they manage to make these themes sound so cheesy, but it’s an amazing feat since most of them were good in the first place.
If they want to have good music in SSF4 they need to focus on what SF2 and SFA series did well.
Usually the music was base on the nationality of the character, in some cases it was to express the “emotion” or “personality” of the character. Something that is really lacking in SF4 and SF3 music.
SSF4 Juri music seems to be on the right track, but the rest of the characters are just using a remix ver of their old songs, which is kinda boring IMO.
Agreed. The each SF2 stage music embodied the country you were in. At least it felt like that to me. India felt like India, Brazil like Brazil, etc. At least in conjunction to the pictures I’ve seen and the things I had read about the countries at the time of me playing SF2 as a kid.
The above is wishful thinking. My prayer is that they will at least think upbeat, upbeat, UPBEAT. We’re fighting for god sakes! Please see Tekken 6’s sound track.
blanka’s sf2 theme was really well done. only god knows how it didn’t make it into sf4.
what really annoys me is that here we are in 2009…soon to be 2010, yet the music in sf4 sounds less professional and more rushed than the original sf2 themes on my snes…even though all they had to do was remix them. hd remix did a much better job.
like i said in my previous post, the weird thing is that all the original music they did make for sf4 is well done. rufus/viper/abel/fuerte all have music that makes you think of their personality straight away. even seth’s music works for seth. it’s like one team made the original stuff, whilst the b team was put on remixing the original themes.
Lets stop all this country themed music music because it really is a crutch for the song producer to lean on , Music should be by character design and so should levels , country should be the last thing thought about when giving them music.
How about we step away from sf2s shadow and concept and want a mindblowing soundtrack. I mean most people where shocked by sf3 and mvc2s soundtracks because they were so abruptly different and sound from their predecessors. I just saying we would get a more rememberable sound if we go by personality and fighting style instead of say nationality.
