Hey, how’s it going? I’m the community leader here in Las Vegas and a mod on SRK. Couple of quick questions.

You must be new here as these are things that have already been happening in this community. I don’t believe you’ve ever posted in our threads, groups, or even showed up to any events or gatherings. That’s what local players usually do.

Has this been taken up with any other mod here on SRK? Stating these things without prior confirmation by mods or admins is an offense that can get you an infraction or banned.

Nice to meet you Hellfromabove. I apologize as I was unaware that the Las Vegas sf4 ae scene was booming here in Las Vegas. I do know that EVO recently took place, but other than that the only lan i’ve been able to see constantly posted under events is the CATALAN RANCH event every month which I attempted to attend with 2 other street fighter players only to find out the location is an abandoned house with a keybox on the door. Where can I find the proper procedure to setting up a local event? I’ve been a competitor in the first person PC gaming scene for many years. I’ve attended many events for that such as

GGL
WSVG
WCG
CPL

It’s been dead for quite a while so I made an attempt to switch to the fighting game community. I would love to actually meet with you if you are local and willing to discuss some of the current events that you speak of and possibly coordinate another great addition to the community.

If you would like to e-mail directly, I can be reached at (paychriswhite@hotmail.com)

Isn’t a LAN a local area network?

I might be incredibly misinformed here but since when did you need to network consoles to play AE with people in the same room?

very true. It’s a bad habit from PC events. (fixed)

You only want 15 players? Assuming that is the case…

15 x $50 = $750

Prize pool is only $525.

That’s $225 unaccounted for.

Isn’t it obvious? Look at his GT. Pay Chris White.

Room is 30
2 of us are setting up and judging and driving and buying food and drinks
We figured it was fair for us to get free entry and I’m assuming the remaining 90 is enough to feed 15 people
If you feel that’s unfair we can adjust it I’m guessing there is Paypal fees as well when accepting money. Like I said this is to help add more practice and a chance for people who practice all day to get what they deserve and motivate more people to become part of the community… I don’t have to do this if its a
problem for people. If you are interested we can figure out what’s fair and do this… if you would like to help speak up

I’m guessing you’re not aware that one person usually takes first in all the tournaments here. He adapts to beating the best within 30 min of playing them, his execution is flawless, and he was one of the best MvC2, GG#R, etc players in the US, if not the world.

Also, do you guys work at Imperial?

So $50 x 13 = $650 - $525 = 125 - 90 - 30 = $5 left over…but I digress.

The point of the matter is not only are you getting your money back for spotting the place and the food (and yes that is fair), but you are getting a free shot a $300?

So everyone throws it $50, but you two stand to lose nothing? Now*** that*** doesn’t seem fair.

If you want to have payment for the room, fine. 30/2 =15. Boom $2 dollar venue fee. Done. But $50 for a 15 man local tourney? This a high rollers tournament or something? Only the people that have a legit shot at the money would enter, and that alone limits your turnout. Maybe 5 people? And hell, that might even be a reach.

Besides, $30 for a room? What, is the tourney gonna be held in the men’s room?

Just curious how many “events” you’ve ran, because this doesn’t seem very well thought out.

this seems like a scam I cannot trust you, I am the forerunner to the AE guild in vegas all of my players have been informed NOT TO ATTEND this tournament.

payments on paypal
huge cut of pot money
venue fee
"friends" as judges

Too many red flags, I’ll inform an SRK admin to come here.

Ok, so price is too high so far. Maybe we don’t even need prize money. Like I said… I’m here to figure out a way to get more events taking place…

W3s…Will you help me plan a FREE event?

I’d be willing to throw a small free event in an effort to meet some new players and coordinate small prize increments until I can build a trusted event. How do I find your GUILD W3s? How many people are in your GUILD?

If you are a good Judge… than maybe you would like to help?

btw I don’t think $300 is even close to a good enough prize for someone that practices hard every day for events… :\

Here is what i’m going to do. I’m booking a room for oct 15. I’m cutting the number of players down to 10. This event is COMPLETELY FREE and will still start at 7PM. RSVP to paychriswhite@hotmail.com - 7 out of 10 slots are available. I’ll setup some brackets and the rules will still be the same unless participants agree on something different or better. If everything works out good I’ll continue to do this and hopefully it will grow into a larger event with prizes. I’ll also consult the people here on the forums on proper entry fee and prize distribution. Probably something like Saint Connor suggested. $2.00 entry etc with a small prize.

I work for a communications company… we supply radios/walkie talkies to security at imperial palace.

I’m not saying throw prize money out the window altogether. If you want to make the pot somewhat decent, but stil have a good turn out, you can do like $2 venue and $5-$10 game fee for pot split 70/20/10 or 65/25/10 or whatever.

Don’t get it twisted, people want the money. They’ll enter “free” but only if something decent is offered up.

so lets say $5.00 entry for 10 people.

1st place $35.00
2nd place $10.00
3rd place $5.00

if I do $8.00 entry for 10 people

1st place $35.00
2nd place $10.00
3rd place $5.00

all entry fees would be put into a pot at the door.

then the “venue” would be covered as well… it’s up to anybody who wants to attend… so far I have 3 of us that are willing to fork up $8.00
so if 7 more want to do this i’ll put it together. From what i’ve seen so far the Las Vegas sf4 ae scene isnt very large. As it grows and people begin to trust it we can up prize money based on public decision. Thank you guys for your patience and input. It means a lot and I hope we can get this going. I’ll be attending IGL events soon as well and hope to meet some of you there.

I’m in.

awesome - 6 slots left - please let me know the best way to contact you for updates on the event… i will also update any new stuff here on this thread.

Wat.

well it’s whoever wins 4 rounds first.
