Super Street fighter 4 AE possbile locations in Norcal?( Pacific north )

HUZAH! sfsu getting it is music to my ears man. i’m looking at moving into the city in january and have been heavily leaning towards the area around SFSU due to the lower rent there, an AE arcade is just icing on the cake.

I believe if you have 4 cabinets (2 h2h setups), they charge you significantly less for the hd’s. That being said, I don’t think this even applies for imports and I don’t think anybody has more than 1 setup even.

any ae close to stockton? or should i say real close of some sort. other then MGL

anyone know WHEN sfsu will get AE?

I am amazed davis havent got it…

A lot of places havent gotten it, Yet.

Cause Davis won’t be getting it.

There is some misinformation in this thread. Allow me to educate.

  1. The upgrade kits are $6000 per kit (HDD+Dongle only); you need two kits for two-player gameplay.

  2. As I recall, a full kit (pcb+hdd+dongle times two, for 2p gameplay) runs around $20,000.

  3. Yes, those are United States dollars.

  4. I know all of this for a fact as I know someone who bought two upgrade kits and I very much follow the arcade scene. Not to mention that I myself got quotes to buy several kits on the behalf of others.

  5. Type-X2 is PC hardware, but it isn’t a standard PC. It’s hardware built by Taito that runs an embedded version of WinXP and will only support specific hardware. You can’t just use a standard PC and boot TX2 software (without first defeating the lockout mechanisms and coding a loader… see: BBCS). Even then, for it to work in an arcade cabinet, you would need a JVS I/O interface…or hack that as well.

Most operators will not purchase SSF4AE as they likely will not see a ROI (especially if the rumour Henry Cen started about AE content as DLC in June is true). If not because of concern over ROI, most arcades simply can’t afford the cost involved.

Hope that helps some of you guys better understand what the deal is.

THank you for clearing it all up. Maybe Arcade owners can still buy it with the Rumor of more Unlocked characters then? Like there was a rumored 6 characters and we only have 2, Maybe in 2 months ( or 1 ) they will give us a code to unlock Like Urien and Alex ( just examples ). You think that would hype it enough for a AE owner to make more of a profit?

Isn’t there a non-link match mode so if you have 2 units you can have a total of four players?

I don’t think the rumour of more unlockables will do anything to ease the burden of the cost for operators. It’s just too much of an investment given the possible return.

Two pcbs are required for two-player play; there is no way to have versus play on a single pcb. It was possible on certain Vanilla HDDs, which were all copies (read: pirated) of a HDD released by Capcom to contest winners or some such nonsense.

Basically, unless you live near a big arcade or somewhere where the scene is strong (Denjin, FFA, aUFO, Gameworks etc), I wouldn’t expect to see SSF4 anytime soon.

No offense, but q-zar is ganky when it comes to fighting games. I really don’t see them putting the cash towards AE or even wanting that sort of foot traffic through their place (Q-Zar business is priority…which it should be). The arcade games there are very much a “side thing”. Unlike, say, MGL or SVGL where they are a side thing BUUUUUT have a tad more of a footprint.

I only stop in there once in a while for Spiderman Pinball, of all things. I don’t think I’ve even been in there for a year now. :stuck_out_tongue: Last time I was there, they had one MvC2 machine and IIRC a Tekken…and maybe a MK of some kind. Blah.

This is all aside route operators that run the area are hurting like crazy.

Concord (and 925 in general…which wasn’t 925 back when SF2 hit but you know what I mean) use to be a “good”* spot with a ton of arcades. My old ass could tell you all about them days (both versions of Playland, Starcade, Q-Zar, Aladdin’s Castle/CyberStation, Great Entertainer, every 7-11/liquor store on every block in the mid 90’s, etc. Just in Concord alone…). You’re likely born too late if you’re hoping Concord gets a public scene going again. Better to hit up someone’s home session or travel to MGL/SVGL. Sad, but yeah. That’s how it is. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah Ive been traveling to MGL and South bay to play at arcades. Concord just seems dead. Ive even tried like my Local ANtioch Golf N games but it seems like most arcades are pretty clueless even when explain everything to them.

I remember Aladdin’s Castle! Or at least one of them (if it’s not the one you’re talking about), it was at Northgate Mall, no more arcade there anymore though. Pretty much we have Starbase in San Rafael and that’s about it. There’s some Scandia’s the one in Rohnert Park just got SF4 Vanilla it seems, but they don’t have the Third Strike cab anymore. Also, 90% of their cabs are improperly calibrated and some of them have broken sticks.

reno nv has it at the atlantis casino ssf4 arcade edition with e.ryu oni akuma!

they should put ssf4 ae at scandia in cordelia that would be great we have a nice fight scene going on in the 707

Yeah I totally flipped out today. I went to the Atlantis to celebrate my girl’s bday and noticed they had AE. Not to mention the card reader messed up and gave me and the lady $96 in game credit haha

I’ll be there every week now! :china:

I beat the game with Oni and the animated ending was pretty dope.
