Seriously, what’s wrong with them? Dixie was fun to use in DKC2/3, and Krystal is on of the best characters in SFAssualt’s DM. And I think they look cool. So that’s why I want them in Smash Rev. Why don’t you?
Give Ganondorf a completely new movelist. Instead of a C. Falcon clone, we should get the evil wizard that he is in the Zelda games. Give him some fireballs, shields, and make him use his sword.
Add Hector, Isaac, Lyn, Ephraim, and Garet, giving them completely different play styles and movesets. Change Marth and Roy’s playstyles.
Well obviously to each man his own. I don’t want to come across as some arrogant ass asserting his opinion on the matter as fact. But there are two things that are generally regarded as things Rare should just not attempt to do:
Write their own stories.
Design their own characters.
Unfortunately, much to the chargrin of cynics everywhere Rare chooses to do these things anyway. I consider Rare’s character designs abominations of artistry and imagination. Banjo Kazooie, the Conker series, Diddy Kong Racing, Jet Force Gemini (ugh), all spit in the faces of childrens’ Trapper Keeper doodles everywhere. I’ll put Krystal on that list also.
Kay I’ll admit, Dixie really isn’t bad and I love Diddy and Cranky but I honestly have a feeling that Nintendo had a hand in designing the DKC cast as they’re really the only characters I’ve seen come out of Rare’s stable that don’t blow harder than Monica Lewinski (too hackneyed?).
One thing worth mentioning though, is that I feel Hal and Nintendo cam work a number on any of Rare’s characters and give them the personality they deserve. So there really isn’t all that much to be skeptical about.
I’m not coming off like that, am I? My bad if so. I was only stating my opinion.
Honestly, I do have to agree with most of your points. IMO, Banjo-Kazooie were really lame, ditto those new guys in Diddy Racing and Conker. Never even played a demo of JFG though. But I still like Diddy, Dixie, Cranky, and Krystal. And I really think that Krystal could be made pretty distinct from Fox and Falco by giving her back her staff and building some attacks around that for Smash.
Ganondorf - Needs a bloody sword, get rid of ALL of his moves he copied from Captain Falcon, especially that Warlock punch that by the time he pulls it off, his opponent can go into the kitchen, make a sandwich, get a soda, and be back just to jab him in the head.
Dr. Mario - While moves contact differently, should still either GO or get a different moveset.
Falco - Needs a different moveset instead of being a bit slower, suckier and jumps a bit higher than Fox.
Pichu - Sucks, euthenize the little bugger.
Mewtwo - Needs a better roll (for those who aren’t willing to learn wavedash), needs more hard hitting moves, needs more practical B moves.
Young Link and Link - Jesus christ can’t we just have the new Link from the new Zelda who looks a bit older than the first and younger than the second and just keep one? Two Links are just stupid.
Roy - Some different moves, different ->B combos from Marth, something more agressive to replace his crappy counter attack.
Samus - I don’t really remember Samus having a Flame Thrower in any of the games, I could be wrong, but why the hell does she have one anyway, its not even that good >_>
Fox - Water down that mofo’s Up+A, friggin seriously, a kill at 50% by some noob who presses up on the yellow stick is instant death on low ceiling levels, on high ceiling 80-90%.
Captain Falcon - One hit invincibility on Falcon Punch
Kirby - That taunt fucking pisses me off, have whoever uses that taunt over and over and over again make the gamecube send an electrical current through the controller to fry the mutherfucker’s hands off.
