Heres my 2 cents on PSABR. I played the game and got bored with it just like everyone else the games faults were not in its character design and hell even the items weren’t THAT bad. The core design of the game is what killed the fact that it was all meter and super based really boned the game. It also got the NRS studios treatment in that there were a bunch of kneejerk patches early on before anyone got good with more than 1 or 2 characters then the support just flatout topped then they released a couple dlc characters way after the game was dead.
Supers was my main issue with the game because some characters were good but had horrible supers Take Kratos for example he was the character people bitched and moaned heavily about up till about patch 4 when he got the nerfbat. He had great tools as a conventional fighting game character but super 1 was terrible an the only setup for it was lvl 2 charged head which was another terrible move level 2 was decent but it only had a 2 character (3 n FFA) kill potential and his level 2 super bar was in the class of second longest level 2 superbars in the game so now if your smart your forced to use the level which again was one of the longest level 3 bars n the game. You can get 5 kills max if they are dummies while characters like parappa can get 4 off of one level 2 etc same goes for fat princess who also had a decent level 1 that had easy ways to 2kills. all in all it took depth out of the game because when the whole game is revolved around 3 moves that really matter your 3 levels of bar everything else devolves.
That tiara makes Marth look about as faggy as DmC Dante. Luigi just wants to know what a bitch smells like since he never got it in with Peach or Rosalina.
Okay, so after a brief stint with my posts refusing to go up it seems things are fixed. Apologies if any double posts or things discussing the same topic at two separate times, in slightly different words, suddenly appear. It is not intentional.
Back on topic: I suspect Sakurai knows some of these posts will be ‘internet comedy mined’ like that. I’m cool with this.
Right now I’m curious if they’re gonna reveal some crazy stages at some point here. It’s nice to see all of these “balanced” stages, but I need my Spear Pillar/Big Blue too D:
We already have the Pilotwings stage and the Mario Galaxy stage, plus the 3DS version has that Mario 3D Land inspired stage with the spikes shooting up from the ground and the Nintendogs stage and Metroid: Other M stage have some interesting hazards, as well.
I just want some of the Brawl stages to return, such as Halberd, Mario Kart, and the aforementioned Spear Pillar. I really want to see a new Pokemon stage, like a vertical-scrolling Dragonspiral Tower featuring Zekrom and Reshiram stage hazards with a transforming Kyurem at the top…
Yeah, that’s Marth. Even at that low resolution, the color distribution and hairstyle make it fairly easy to tell.
For those who might have missed Brawl’s take on Fire Emblem, the FE stage there involved terrain you could destroy. Hit a statue enough times and its associated platforms would go away. The stage also ‘changed form’ several times, between fighting atop a castle wall, to an indoor coliseum-like area, and finally a volcano’s interior (which was a relatively flat stage with few features). I liked the idea behind it; characters having advantages at certain times in the match is a fun thing. Hopefully the stage we see above has some of those elements too!
Perfect pokemon stage if it doesn’t matter which gen, I’d pick Sky Pillar and a semi-race to the top where Rayquaza is. Or a Cerulean cave stage where Mewtwo is chasing/attacking and maybe mega evolves.
I actually think Castle Siege would have been competitively viable (as much as Brawl could be) if not for the walk off edges in the second part of the stage. Still one of my favorites.
This would be a pretty great idea except for the part where I want Mewtwo to be playable.
Pic of the day. Here’s the new edition of the Ray Gun. The Smash Bros. mark appears backward because it acts like a stamp. We design the Ray Gun carefully each time to ensure it doesn’t look like a real gun.
“Because it acts like a stamp.” What, does it mark the target for further attacks afterward? Or is it just going to be an annoying visible effect, kind of like leaving a paintball splat (with no further effects) on the target? Obviously this is just wild speculation, but… hey. It’s what we’ve got to discuss at the moment.
The second part is why it should be in tournaments not despite it. 80% of all smash stages in all 3 games should be allowed in tournaments, people need to be strict about which they decide to ban, but as we all know the community isn’t that mature or intelligent and probably never will be unless enough people in and out of it complain which might happen who knows, doesn’t hurt to voice concerns.
What exactly is the issue with walk-off-edges, anyway? Sure, their existence diminishes or negates the ‘recovery’ aspect of play, but what am I missing about this that makes it such a catastrophic problem?
Idle topic leap… forgive me if anyone has already brought this up, but since Pokemon was discussed a few pages ago it occurs to me I’d love to see Hawlucha join the roster. Seems like he could have a fun (hilarious?) move list.
