It’s definitely a stage that hasn’t been shown before. My first guess was FE, too, except for the huge stadium in the background, which makes it seem more like Pokemon. Is there a Coliseum type arena in Awakening? I haven’t been able to play it yet.
Yeah, that looks like a Fire Emblem stage, if it is Awakening then the symbol makes sense for Chapter 4 from that game. Although, it could be one of those stages where some of the background crowd stays the same but the arena elements are changing after a period of time.
If it turns out to be a Fire Emblem stage, specifically Awakening, the chances for a certain recently introduced Lord character to be in this game are stupidly high if not a lock.
wait…thinking about it…you guys are probably right that it’s more than likely a Fire Emblem stage because of what Sakurai said with the pic. He said this stage appears in a Puzzle Swap panel. I thought he was talking about a future puzzle swap panel for whatever reason but there is Awakening puzzle panel that you get in puzzle swap that showcases a fight that took place between Chrom and Marth in the game and it actually looks a lot like this stage now. I need one more piece to complete that particular puzzle in order to get the animated version of it to look around in it. So this could almost assuredly mean that Chrom is in.
You guys are pretending 19yos didn’t play snes or genesis. I’d say anyone born after 95 maybe didn’t…I remember going to a house party a while ago and the only systems they had were snes and genesis playing MMX and Sonic 2
(Because someone is likely to believe I’m offering serious commentary on the video: No, I understand that it’s a joke and am having silly fun with the below responses. Aside from the Earthbound dog part, anyway.)
King Leonidas from 300 is already in Smash as of, at least, Brawl. Try Ganondorf’s f-tilt!
King from Tekken would fit right in. After all, Dedede and the Ice Climbers have long since established chain-grabs as part of the franchise!
Ness’ dog (default name King, I believe? Wait I get the ongoing joke here…) would be kinda cool. Obscure as hell, and thus pointless from a hype perspective, but he’d be neat all the same.
Tommy from GTA would be hilarious just for the scandalized news broadcasts. “Next on fox: Nintendo peddling GRAND THEFT AUTO!”
As for the rest of the ideas? Well… Macho Madness, Sky’s the Limit!!!1111one
They also mentioned a sabertooth tiger; I have a funny random story about that particular creature. One day while I was driving, a friend and I came across a martial arts school whose outside wall was decorated in stereotypical Asian themes. However… the painter they hired had a very questionable grasp of the source material. I didn’t even notice this at first, but my friend did. He started laughing, and the conversation went like this:
“What’s so funny?”
“Have you seen what’s on the wall over there?”
“No, because I’m focusing on the road. Why?”
“They’ve got, like, a dragon and a tiger fighting one another! The hell’s up with that?”
“Well, ‘dragon and tiger’ is a common part of certain martial arts ‘culture.’ Depending on who you ask, the dragon represents the value of true mastery… or they represent different schools of fighting such as the dragon’s wise and patient approach versus the tiger’s raw speed, anger, and ferocity. It’s kind of a long story and the details vary depending on who you ask, but art of dragon versus tiger is a legit thing.”
“Okay. I’m willing to believe that, but dragon versus sabertooth tiger!?”
“What?!”
“Look over there!”
So I slow down, look at the wall, and sure enough! The artist had painted an incredibly detailed image of a dragon versus a sabertooth tiger! “What the!? Oh come on! That’s not even close to being correct! Who the hell… I mean…”, and then we just started laughing.
Most of my friends first systems were SNESs and Sega Genesis’s. Parents was too cheap to drop money for a ps1 and a n64 so they gave us their old systems and said hold that
My first system was a Genesis. Never owned an SNES or any old Nintendo console for that matter. Only Sega and Playstation consoles. I remember having MM8 (I think) on PS1. That was my first introduction to Mega Man and I loved it.
I also think Custom Robo could use some better representation in Smash and could probably go a ways in helping revitalize the franchise in the West. I posted like this on miiverse last night but I think if they included a Ray MK model as a playable character then that would be pretty interesting.
I’ve always liked how current-day Nintendo can put out some really detailed character designs like Pit’s. Definitely looking forward to playing him in Smash 4. Just wish we had a bit more news to discuss… seems like the initial excitement has, understandably, died down by now.
As much as I love custom robo arena(was playing the GC version last night) having a robo char would not makemuch sense and would probably make more people bitch than it would make happy. Im all for some robo arena trophies though.
I still want to play as Ray 01, as extremely unlikely as that is. >__>
Nah I agree though. I would like to see another “dark horse” as it were, like say Isaac or Ray, but it’s highly unlikely and probably not the best route to go anyway.
Are we really going to dispute a robot in a game where plumbers, mercenaries, racers, animals, dinosaurs, civilians, pink puffballs, wizards, princesses, and evil turtles have all come together for nothing else but the sole purpose of kicking each others asses? ROB should count already as a bot anyway.
